New Fragrance: Bond No. 9 Queens (2014) “A Scent for NYC’s Largest Borough”

bond 9 queens

I like Queens; it may not have the cool factor of Brooklyn or the elan of Manhattan but what would New York be without Flushing Meadows and The World’s Fair 1964 (which filled me with wonder as a very young child). It is an ever growing and changing place with lots of diversity:  Jackson Heights, Astoria, Douglaston,  Bayside, Forest Hills, Rego Park and Long Island City are some of the areas where I have friends who say they are staying put, thank you very much.  It seems Bond No 9  is of a like mind. Now Queens is getting props with its own scent as of September 2014.

According to WWD, Bond 9 Queens was inspired Catherine of Braganza, the wife of King Charles II of England, for whom the  largest NYC borough  was named, and the fact that it is an up-and-coming area for the younger generation.

International Flavors & Fragrances’ Laurent Le Guernec,( long time perfumer for Bond No 9) and Creative Director Laurice Rahme collaborated on a unisex tuberose.  Notes include bergamot, cardamom, blackberry, tuberose, champaca flower, osmanthus,  sandalwood, benzoin resin, musk and amber. The flacon is a royal purple laser-etched bottle, with a gold rendering of the 1964 World’s Fair Unisphere.

Eau de parfum sprays in two sizes — 50 ml. for $195 and 100 ml. for $270 — will be offered, as will a 200-ml. body lotion, priced at $100.

I hope it is released by September 8 in time for the finals of the US Open at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Michelyn, excited to hear of another new scent by Bond No. 9. I was on a real run wearing their fragrances for a while. I had some collection going (still have them). They are long lasting and their samples are wrapped like fun little candies. Lots of fun to order. Lovely body cremes to layer with as well. It’s a nice line and they pay great homage to NY! (another plus plus). Thanks for the heads up.

  • These notes sound like a perfect tribute to a very diversified borough…. Fantastic bottle as well….

Taking New York fragrances to the world. A unisex tuberose? I’d like to try it. Love the purple bottle.
