New Fragrance: Bond No. 9 Manhattan “New York City After Dark”

One of the fragrances at the NY Elements Showcase that Managing Editor Mark Behnke thought was noteworthy was Bond No. 9 Manhattan.  My first thought was since the Company is famous for creating fragrant homages to NYC neighborhoods I would be interested in how they would interpret the whole city. As some one who has lived in Manhattan for most of my life, the smell of multi cultural food is everywhere.  Bond No. 9 Manhattan must have had the same idea as according to the notes below Manhattan is a Gourmand.

"Top notes: Mouthwatering nutmeg … worldly saffron, evoking dried flowers … delicate coriander seeds—softened with the addition of luscious, mouthwatering peach.

Heart Notes: Sweet honeycomb, made from the nectar of flowers, mingles with black plum, hinting of chocolate, and a warm and inviting gingerbread accord. Moroccan jasmine, the sole flower at the center of this scent, itself evokes the aura of peaches or ripe bananas.

Lingering drydown: Creamy, velvety-smooth sandalwood; rich, balsamic patchouli; a soft and warm vanilla infusion; and unapologetically sensual, skin-like musk"

Manhattan launches in September. Since the only information was from their facebook page, size, price and perfumer were not listed.

  • Manhattan sounds very interesting to me.
I have not tried many of their scents, but the
one I recently smelled at my local Saks was Lexington Ave.,
which I liked. I would love to smell Manhattan after it launches.

  • I’m sorry, but I cannot get behind Bond No.9 whilst they still have charges of racial discrimination pending. They may be able to carry on releasing new perfumes, but until this is cleared, I think there should be an embargo on their promotion. After all Jean Paul Guerlain stepped down to save the house, and John Galliano was unceremoniously and quite rightly fired for his racism.

  • It’s so true NYC smells like the entire world is cooking depending what part of town you are in
This sounds like a fruit stand an Indian restaurant and magnolia cupcake
    Hope it’s available soon

  • This does sound yummy but after reading another post I’m not jumping to try it:
I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on the subject.
Edited to remove another bloggers post

  • maybe this is not the place to talk about the charges, I hope they are not true. In any case I have some of the Bond fragrances and love them and this one sounds very nice indeed.

  • I agree with Claudia and would like to add, in response to Stephen, that there are troubling aspects to the case, including that one of the plaintiffs was fired for pilfering $25K from the company BEFORE she filed the lawsuit and AFTER having worked there for nine years.

Let’s wait for the outcome rather than jumping to conclusions about guilt. Whatever happened the the court system in this country? Once upon a time, suspects were suspects.
