Nest Wild Poppy Review (Jerome Epinette) 2019 + Meet Me at Coachella Draw

Nest Fragrances is on a scented roll and it continues into 2019. After 2018’s two strong perfume releases(both Nest Wisteria Blue and Cocoa Woods are simply gorgeous). Spearheaded by brand founder and creative director Laura Slatkin, Nest specializes in perfume, lifestyle bodycare and home fragrances. They engage renowned perfumers including Christophe Laudamiel, Jerome Epinette, and CaFleureBon’s perfumer of 2018- Rodrigo Flores-Roux. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to try their first release of the New Year: Nest Wild Poppy, the 13th in the collection, is a fruity-floral gourmand that's perfectly timed for Coachella this April.

Jerome Epinette returns as the perfumer for Nest Wild Poppy, and he’s created a perfume that is like a breath of fresh air in the midst of a gloomy never-ending winter. Young, lively, and flirty, Wild Poppy opens with a veritable fruit basket full of perfectly ripe offerings; juicy pear and apricot with a hint of sweet, acidic raspberry. The fruit basket sits in front of a case of just picked roses and jasmine, both fresh from the garden and sprinkled with morning dew. Both fruit and flower are sun-kissed with luminosity and vibrate with life. There’s a slight tropical vibe as well, as if a guava or cherimoya is part of the mix, and this adds to the overall feeling of carefree happiness. The floral greenness keeps the fruit notes from becoming overly sweet, and the perceived caramel and musk help to ground the whole composition.

Wear Nest Wild Poppy to get a head-start on Spring, or buckle on your fanny pack, drape your vintage jewelry around your neck ,don your peasant top and denim jacket  and head to the California desert. You’ll be happy you brought along Wild Poppy tucked into your fringed bag (the rollerball is perfect to travel with) when Jaden Smith asks you “what Is that perfume”?

Notes: Pear, Raspberry, Apricot, Himalayan Jasmine, Rose De Grasse, (I also pick up notes of Caramel and Musk)

Disclosure: Thank you so much to Nest Fragrances for my bottles of Nest Wild Poppy. The opinions are my own.

What appeals to me most about Nest Wild Poppy is the description of it being “young, lively, and flirty”. I would love to add a little fun into my collection! Based solely on this review and my own research, I think my favorite Nest Perfume would be Midnight Fleur, but I’ve never tried any of them. I’m in the U.S.

I have no desire to go to Coachella, but the notes of Wild Poppy sound great for exploring the desert. The apricot and raspberry sound luscious. I have only sampled Wisteria Blue and it’s a lot of fun to wear.

  • Good read, Robert and Michelyn. I love a bright fragrance in the winter! The blend of fruit notes, juicy and tart, sound great the way Robert describes them. I haven’t tried very many NEST fragrances but I do know I liked Paradise signed by Christophe Laudamiel very much. I live in the US.

  • Thanks for another great review, Robert and Michelyn! This fragrance sounds like a welcome break from dark, strong, resinous scents. I love this part of your description- ‘The fruit basket sits in front of a case of just picked roses and jasmine, both fresh from the garden and sprinkled with morning dew.’ My favorite Nest fragrance would be Midnight Fleur. Thanks for this opportunity. – CA, USA

  • How can one resist the call to ” buckle on your fanny pack, drape your vintage jewelry around your neck ,don your peasant top and denim jacket and head to the California desert.” If Wild Poppy can do that, I’m in. I don’t have a favorite Nest fragrance yet. Thanks to Robert for a enlightening review and for this draw. I’m in the USA

  • I’m wondering if the rose note comes through, or is it more of a background note? Also curious how a less sweet raspberry note plays out with the other fruity notes.
I havent tried anyhthing from the house.

Im in the US. thanks for the draw

  • Valentine Girl says:

Jerome Epinette, is one of my favorite perfumers and his last creation for NEST, Verde, is my top pick of the NEST line and a staple in my spring perfume rotation. I would love to try his latest offering, Wild Poppy, especially since the review mentions the “floral greenness keeps the fruit notes from becoming overly sweet”. I tried to smell it at my nearest Sephora yesterday, but it had not yet arrived to my local Dela-where?? store. Thanks for the opportunity. USA resident.

  • I love NEST poppy because it smells so sweet, light, and fresh yet the scent lasts all day and I get TONS of compliments on it

It smells very luxurious and I love that although it's light, it still lasts all day. That floral scent is just always my go – to and so I'm happy when I got Sephora's sample with my points, I need the bigger bottle now!

    Thanks! USA
