Tilda Swinton Spring Campaign NARS 20015

NARS has been a busy House, with so many launches since 2014 I can barely keep up. For the record, I am a big fan of the Audacious lipsticks,(Nars Jane and Julie are year round staples); they were the best lipstick launch of 2014, and I hope they continue the innovation with new products as well. I have been wearing NARS blushes and foundation for years. I have tried dozens of foundations and blushes and Lovejoy and Barcelona work with my odd golden medium skin (To be fair I spray tan 52 weeks a year, so I have no idea what my real complexion looks like).

The Spring 2015 Color Collection is the second in the series of portraits of Tilda Swinton, she of the alabaster skin and wild beauty. There are seven products in this collection and it is as offbeat a collection as the actresss herself. It is an odd mix of warm and cool tones that are difficult to wear unless you are very fair or look well in orangey toned colors.

In the collection three products worked for me. The St Paul de Vence Eyeshadow Duo, The Valhalla single shadow and Porto Venero eyepaint which I used as an alternative to MAC Painterly as an eyeshadow base. It is a VERY small pot for $25

The Valhalla single was my favorite in the entire collection; a beautiful peachy pink shimmer with intense pigmentation that had no fall out. On my skin, the peach and pink tones were perfectly balanced. Any complexion from fair to deep can wear this shade.  The St Paul de Vence duo looked just fine, if not a tad warm  (even for me). The colors described by Nars are shimmering nectarine and chestnut. On my complexion they were shimmering medium golden peach and medium satin terrracotta. Worn together,  with Valhalla, they created a soft sunrise over the desert effect.

NARS Reckless Blush !!! $30 my photo

My least favorites are the lipglosses and the blush. No matter how many times I tried to swatch they didn't show, thus no photos.  Reckless  stretches the definition of "blush", it is a whitish pink shimmer with very little color payoff, and flaky particles; it is cool toned and best used as a highlighter. You may have different results than me and I know a number of beauty bloggers who have very pale skin, or look quite lovely in this collection.

Verdict  I am saving  my dollars for the new wet/dry blushes that will be on sale very soon on Narcosmetics.com

  • La Swinton is always eye-catching. These new colors boggle me a bit.

I’m a fan of NARS eyeshadow base and the matte eyeshadows. Really looking forward to the wet/dry blushes, too.

  • Roseinrose says:

Valhalla for sure, loved it !!!
Thanks for the info I will definitely try them!

  • Valhalla is about the only thing that looks appealing to me, too, but not enough to bite.

I am as pale as Ms Tilda ( although I’m red-headed) and I don’t like super pale cosmetics on me. I feel as though I’m washed up and don’t need anything else adding to the effect!

However, I adore Janet, from the Audacious line, and it’s probably too bold and dark for me, but I wear it anyway, so I am perhaps not the best one to judge!
