MORE BERTRAND DUCHAUFOUR: HIDE AND SEEK

Its been a roller coaster these past few days, rumours, conflicting statements. As one reader put it: Where's Waldo? It's been the makings of a Duchaufour Drama?

No, a simple case of Lost in Translation. After several email exchanges we arrive at the truth. In House Perfumer, has a different meaning for him. He wrote to me in English the following

"Michelyn,

I am an in house perfumer without belonging to any brand I am working in a
privileged way with :  l'Artisan Parfumeur
                                     Penhaligon
                                    The Different Company

That's all.

My warm regards.

Bertrand"

As the Editor in Chief of www.cafleurebon.com , I avoid speculation; we abhor it. So now it's clear. In Bertrand's own words from an interview we did in 2009,

"You must be, as blogger leader, very careful of what you're divulging because you are the more efficient guarantor of the quality and veracity of any commentaries concerning fragrances and perfumery"

Michelyn Camen, Editor in Chief

  • Bertrand Duchaufour has created my favorite L'Artisan and my favorite Penhaligon's.  Can't wait to see what he will do at TDC, a company I already like a lot. Thanks, Michelyn, for letting us know.

  • Michelyn, thank you for the information. It's so great when somebody is thorough with what they are doing. Thank you.

  • In India, the assassinated Prime minister Indira Gandhi, was an extremely powerful figure. Law and order today are a shadow of what they were in her time.
She is said to have established herself with ruthlessness and cunning, tho' – maybe that's what it takes to stay in power?
To me,  the will to dominate and wield power over others is a negative "male" trait.  Thankfully, there arent a lot of men out there who do it  🙂

  • Thanks for the clarification from the horse's mouth! The title "in-house perfumer" really is a bit confusing, I guess…

  • Scentabulous says:

All of those who disseminate information should be held to a standard.  I believe you hold that ethic to it's height and beyond, Michelyn.  Thank you.
