Youtube Video Fragrance Review: Montale Honey Aoud (Pierre Montale)  2015 + A Taste of Honey Draw

Oud may be ubiquitous, but very few Houses do Oud  as well as Montale Paris; Oud was and is important to the brand since its inception in 2001, when it was seldom used in perfumery.    Because it is such a  complex and powerful ingredient,  the skill of a perfumer is important when balancing notes that can overpower each other.

Honey Aoud, notes that contrast… the smoky resinous oud  which is the trademark of Montale combine with silky smooth honey, a wonderful Oriental fragrance that is unisexy.  A great scent for oud a phobes and oud a philes alike. -Michelyn Camen, Editor in Chief

  • An amazing fragrance from Montale. Since I used to own and still own many of their creations, this one doesn’t actually carry Montale dna. When I smelt it first, I sait to my self “this one doesn’t smell like a Montale”. It was in a good way because most of the times, Montale’s Oud comes off too much. Oud here was used way less than usual and there was a very good quality cinnamon note. Now, they called it Honey aoud but it should of been Cinnamon aoud because you really don’t feel the Honey note. There is just a sweetness covered by cinnamon and touch of oud. There is no florals or saffron this time but very nice sweetness with spice and woods. One of the best Montales for sure.

  • I like how Sebastian talked about the balance between the honey/amber and the oud, as well as the other notes (patchouli, leather, etc.). My favorite Montale is Red Aoud, and this sounds entirely different.

  • Great video as always, I can always visualize the notes by your accurate description. This scent sounds unique and intriguing. I would love to win the bottle, but if not I will this one on “to be got” list that continues to grow daily. T

  • I’ll eventually need a full Bottle of this one. I sampled this recently and loved it right away. A very warm, comforting scent that lasts all day. Mmm.

  • Sebastian’s review was very helpful in sparking my interest in this scent…I don’t have any Montale scents and this one sounds very appealing…BTW, I was not able to log-in (although I am registered), due to forgetting my password and getting locked out for a few more days…thanks

  • Sebashtian’s video was really informative as always, the way he appliances the development of this Fragrance made me really interested in this honey, oud scent. I love that the honey really mellows out the oud and it has a interesting Vanilia/Amber dry down.

  • I agree with Sebastian that this is a great oud for non-oud lovers…because that is me, and Honey Aoud won me right over. My small decant will be sprayed and sprayed this fall, and I’d love to win a full bottle so I can keep the sprays coming (just not all at once. It *is* potent!)

My very favorite Montale is Vanille Absolu, but I also own Sandflowers and enjoy a few other of their offerings.

Thanks to you, Europerfumes, and Sebastian for the chance!

  • Sebastian’s video was so detail oriented that I almost felt like I could smell the fragrance through my computer screen. I really am interested in smelling Montale’s Honey Oud. By the way, thank you for the chance to win this fragrance.

  • I love Sebastian’s videos. This sounds like a fragrance I would like. i agree with him that a little more honey might be nice. And, it is long lasting which is a big plus. I have smelled Montale’s Rose Oud. Thank you for this draw. I am in the USA.

  • Oud sounds like something that is mysterious, magical and almost hippy in the best way. Sebastian makes fragrances come alive.

  • Sebastian’s reviews are awsome! I love his youtube channel. The way he talks about fragrance is like I am smelling it right now 🙂
I love Montale perfumes. It is luxury brand for people with royal blood. Applying Montale I feel like I am prince of some kingdom. I have only couple Montale samples. I really want to win because it may open my journey to brand like Montale. It would be great to own my first bottle of Montale 🙂
By the way I love honey lool

  • Coincidentally, I’m wearing Honey Aoud today. I agree that perhaps this is a good scent for those who shy away from oud. I’m glad to see oud paired with something other than rose and honey is an interesting choice. There have been several honey-oud fragrances released recently — Floris Honey Oud, Vilhelm Parfumerie The Oud Affair, and, perhaps, Xerjoff Mamluk are the other ones I know of. I’ve really been into honey this year. Montale Honey Aoud is one of the better ones I’ve come across.

Since I already own a bottle of Honey Aoud, I can be left out of the draw. I do appreciate the generosity of the offer.

  • I saw Sebastian’s video n he gave a brief info about the fragrance.
I do like n have some of montale offerings n how beastly they perform. I’d like to try n win this bottle hopefully to use in the coming winter.

    I’m in Florida.

    Thanks for the giveaway.

  • Bryan Plouffe says:

As always I can imagine myself immersed in the fragrance as Sebastian reviews them. Great review, it looks like something worth looking into!

  • Any Montale scent is powerful and I love any OUD fragrance specially black OUD.
I been following Sebastian for a while now and he is excellent reviewer on YouTube thanks Cafleurebon for the chance to smell good

  • Intense yes indeed. I really love this Montale. It has a beauty that wears very well with me. This year I started to enjoy honey fragrances and when I smelled this one it was love. Sebastian describes it nicely. I do get a good dose on cinnamon on my skin. At any rate a very nice review. I really enjoy Montale Aoud Musk. It may actually be my top three of all times. Thanks for a superb draw. In the USA.

  • Kevin Anthony says:

Another great fragrance review, short and to the point. I like the oud and honey notes. Can’t wait to get my nose on it.

  • I enjoyed Sebastian’s review, strraight forward and simple explanation of the fragrance. Sounds like a pretty straight forward scent all around. I’ve never tried any Montale, would like to win this for the winter coming up and to check out the house.

  • Barbara Pines says:

I usually don’t like anything honey but honey oud sounds terrific still intense and not too sweet
I live in the USA and love black Aoud

  • I have been wanting to try a Montale for the longest time. I love Oud and honey! Together, I can see it being perfect. Hope to try this frag soon

  • Honey Oud sounds great! I didn’t like Oud a few years ago, but Montale knows how to blend it just right where anyone can appreciate the Oud, but not be knocked out by it. Honey Oud sounds awesome. I do like sweet fragrances, so this would be perfect for the sweet/woody notes that I like. Thank you Sebastian and Cafleurebon for this giveaway! What an exciting time!
    Sincerely,
    Paul

  • Anvilandforge says:

Great review Sebastian. I don’t smell a prominent honey note too often, so it’s good to see an established house like Montale release something like this. Hopefully I’ll be able to try it soon.

  • Anvilandforge says:

Great review Sebastian. I don’t see honey as a prominent note too often. It’s good to see an established house like Montale utilize it. Hope to try it soon!

  • Great review Sebastian. I don’t see honey as a prominent note too often. It’s good to see an established house like Montale utilize it. Hope to try it soon!

  • I usually enjoy wearing fragrances with a honey note, and I’m eager to try Honey Aoud. The notes seems to compliment each other, and I know that longevity and projection is beastly with that juice! I’m in the market for another Montale fragrance anyway, so this may be my second Montale purchase.

  • Xavier Reynolds says:

I’m curious in finding out how this honey plays out with the oud in the fragrance. I remember Sebastian mentioning in his review on how it is not in your face. Sadly, a lot of my designer fragrances don’t last. From Columbus, Ohio.

  • Rodney Wallace says:

Another great review by Sebastian. Honey Aoud is just amazing. It’s a juice that’s just perfect for the Fall. I love how Sebastian explained how the honey used isn’t cloying at all. It compliments the Oud perfectly. Thanks for the opportunity.

  • Lovely giveaway! I always enjoy Sebastian’s reviews because of his quiet gentlemanly style, and this was a great example. My favorite Montale scent I’ve tried is Oudmazing. I’d like to win this bottle because it sounds perfect for Autumn and I LOVE AUTUMN! Thanks for the chance to win

  • I enjoyed his comparison with the other Honey Oud scent. My favorite Montale is the only one I have which is Starry Nights and I would like to win so I can explore this house more.

  • I am intrigued because it is a fragrance with contrasting notes, thus, it will be interesting to find how oud has been mixed with honey in this. My favorite Montale perfume is Aoud Lime. I am in the US>.

  • Never tried anything from Montale before but I love Aoud. I have a bottle of Jo Malone Bergamote & Oud and really love that one. I suspect I will like this as well. My impression of Montale is that they make powerful fragrances so this could be perfect for Fall and Winter! Thank you.

  • I was always curious about this scent but didn’t get it based on the “beastly” performance of Montale fragrances. Listening to your review, Sebastian, now I do want it! hahahaha! You have convinced me. 🙂

  • Great review sebastian , need a bottle of this in my collection , thanks to you and to cafleurebon for the giveaway blessings

  • What I like about Sebastian’s review is that he made one! I’ve been eyeing this fragrance lately and that’s just what I needed to confirm my thoughts on it! My favorite Montale so far has to be Aoud Leather. Just a delicious smooth LONG LASTING leather gem! I’d love to have a bottle of this as I’m really digging Montale lately.

  • perfumedladybird says:

I’m a fan of Montale and this sounds right up my alley, just in time for fall. Actually this might be a good way to introduce my fiancé to aoud with out him getting buried in too much of the bitter dryness so often found in aoud scents. Count me in!

  • Hi there
I would love to try this fragrance. It was a very nice review I’m very new to the montale line.
    Las vegas Nevada

  • Thanks Sebastian for another cool review! This fragrance sounds outstanding! I only have one Oud fragrance and would love to add this one to my collection!!

  • Patrick Echevarria says:

Nice review by Sebastian. Don’t have any Montale in my collection yet due to the fact that most that I have sampled are either oud intense to my liking or sweet/gourmandish and syrupy which I dislike as well. As per the review, this one isn’t too oud strong nor sweet so I think this will suit my taste.

  • Great review Sebastian. I don’t see honey as a prominent note too often. It’s good to see an established house like Montale utilize it. Hope to try it soon!

  • Another wonderful review by Sebastian! He always makes me want to get my nose on the fragrance he is reviewing like it is the oxygen that is required to live. I loved that the Honey and the Oud balanced each other out. When Sebastian talked about the amber/vanilla notes in the dry down I was completely sold. I haven’t met an Oud that I haven’t liked and Honey Oud needs to be in my collection. I live in the US and thanks for the draw! 🙂

  • Hikmat Sher Afridi says:

Thanks for the wonderful review and gorgeous giveaway.
Montale creations are amazing. I still don’t have any Montale fragrance in my collection whereas there are many from Montale on my wishlist including Honey Aoud. I not only like but love long lasting perfumes.
Participating in the draw by giving my relative address residing in NY.

  • Sebastian always does great reviews. I am glad that he said the projection is great. My favorite Montale is Aoud Leather. I would like this Montale Because I like the note of honey!

  • Here’s my comments from Sebastian’s YT vid:
A fragrance review made just for me! Outstanding review Sebastian; thank you for giving this fragrance some much deserved love ❤️! I had a sample of this, (when I was a total newbie), but was afraid to commit due to it’s stinky essence in the opening. I guess that would have been the Oud, plus the candle wax smell from the honey. But after about an hour or two of smelling rather odd, that would give way to this majestic aromatic smell that I had never experienced wearing a fragrance. I thought to myself, “this is what it feels like when a fragrance gives you confidence!” This is the only juice that has done this for me or to me. One of the longest most enjoyable dry-downs I’ve ever experienced, which lasted well into the night from an initial morning application. I never purchased due to the off-putting scent I got in the front part of HA, but since then I’ve worn some for real for real odd smelling fragrances that puts Montale Honey Aoud in prospective. I will try in the contest, but if I don’t win, I will buy because it’s definitely full bottle worthy. Bravo
Good luck to myself…from North Carolina and that for this opportunity

  • OMG!! You had me at Honey, Oud , Flowers, Cinnamon, Vanilla, Amber , Leather and Patchouli!!! I have got to get my nose on this!! This sounds Amazing!!!!!!!! Thanks Sebastian for this great review!!! It’s like every step you describe .. I’m salivating to try it!!! And on top of that great longevity and silage! amazing Amazing Review!!! 🙂

  • Eric Dunthorne says:

Sebastian sent me here. I have Patchouli Leaves that I really enjoy and have tried many other sample. Honey Aoud sounds really good and would really like to have it as my second Montail in my collection. I’m going to try and obtain a sample if I don’t win. Thanks for the giveaway and thanks to Sebastian for leading us here and for the review.

  • I always enjoy Sebastian’s reviews! I was happy to hear him say that this fragrance would work for those that are not particularly fond of oud perfumes. It sounds like there is a nice, gentle balance of notes, along with the oud note. My skin pulls spicy notes, so I’m betting the cinnamon will be very prominent on my skin, which is great!
I don’t own any Montale but I’ve sampled Vanille Absolu and really love it. I would be so eager to smell Honey Oud because it really sounds like a perfect scent for Autumn.

    I live in the U.S.

  • Mathew Joseph says:

Honey an the combination of vanilla an oud sounds great video was great very informative favorite montale is tropical wood an i would love to check it out to sample the frag before purchasing it an to promote montale

  • Sebastian makes this fragrance sound oh so smooth:) I haven’t had a ton of experience of Montale fragrances but the ones I have tried have been somewhat intense. I like the idea of the honey smoothing out the oud and turning into a vanillic amber. Sebastians review makes this sound pretty delicious to me. I don’t feel Ive had enough experience with Montale to have a favorite but would love to win and experience this choice.

Thanks for the great review Sebastian and for the chance Cafleurbon.com:)

  • I am a big fan of Montale’s offerings. I’ve been waiting for this release. I’m glad I got to hear Sebastian’s opinions. Always very interesting.

  • I own several fragrances from this house, they are always very strong but pleasant to the nose. This was a great review. I really enjoyed it.

    Thank you.

  • I’m here because of Looking Feeling Smelling Great. I’m a long-time subscriber to his channel, always nice to hear his opinions on these niche perfumes. Thank you for doing this giveaway.

  • It looks like Montale delivers yet another great fragrance with the amazing note of Oud. A trademark from the house in my opinion. This was a great video Sebastian and Cafleurebon!

  • Montale fragrances are some of my favorites. Honey Aoud sounds like something I would love. Count me in please!

  • Great review as always, Sebastian! I like that this one isn’t super-sweet. I’d love to win because the mix of honey and cinnamon sounds really nice.
My favorite Montale is Chocolate Greedy.
Thank you for the draw! USA

  • Great review!! I wonder if this stuff smells as good as Intense Cafe, would love to win to find out. I’m in USA too.

  • Hello , as always Sebastian does the best reviews. My favourite oud scent in 24 Gold by ScentStory , and would love to try Montale Honey Aoud. For the ingredient list is just phenomenal. Oud – vanilla – honey – amber – cinnamon … Great ingredients , and I do believe Montale creates quality fragrances. Had the chance to test a sample of Montale’s Velvet Aoud , and boy , it was a nuclear bomb ! 20+h on my skin with monstruos projection , the only problem is that I don’t like Mysore…
If Honey Aoud had the same monstruos performance , it would suit me perfectly this winter.. Count me in , in your generous giveaway. Would love to get my nose on this delightful gourmand fragrance 🙂
    Thank you !

  • Sebastian does a good job of painting with his words. I found myself interested in this scent from his intriguing description alone.

  • Great Review from Sebastian! Favorite Montale is Blue Amber. Honey Oud sounds like a real winner.

  • This sounds like an Oud I’d love to try. I have not owned a Montale before so this would be a first.

  • I always enjoy how Sebastian describes the scents. My wife and I both enjoy Dark Aoud by Montale, so I would enjoy trying this one as well.

  • Sebastian is one of my favorite reviewers! His description of Honey Aoud is quite intriguing, indeed. I like how he contrasts this with another fragrance with a similar name, yet he never bashes the other or even mentions it…he’s always classy and dignified.

  • Also, I forgot to mention that I’d like to win because I’m a fan of the Montale – the scent and strength of many of their fragrances!

  • Edward Gurango says:

Intriguing elements and great projection/sillage–could be just the thing for the coming cooler weather here in SoCal. Sebastian’s reviews are always worth watching.

  • I love how Sebastian walks you through the personality of a fragrance. Also it goes with say that Montale Taj is my favorite even though I can’t get a bottle of it anymore. I am always a sucker for good honey fragrances!!!

  • BostonScentGuy says:

Great review! You had me at honey, cinnamon, and leather. I appreciate that none of these notes dominates, even though I do like a sticky honey note. I am an oud fan, but recognize the market is saturated. I appreciate any oud scent that isn’t oud-rose dominant. Appreciated Sebastian’s disappointment that the honey wasn’t more prominent…yet it still sounds tempting! My favorite Montale is still probably the classic Black Aoud. Thanks for the draw–I’m in the US.

  • I love Sebasastion’s reviews and this one sounds right up my alley. His review makes it sound delicious and inquires about the amazing performance. My favorite Montale is vintage, extra concentrated, European version of Red Aoud. Thank you so much for this giveaway.

  • I enjoy Sebastian’s reviews because I feel we have the same preferences when it comes to fragrances. I also enjoy how most of his reviews are concise and straight to the point. I’m interested in trying this one because I’ve tried other Montales (Tropical Wood, Oudmazing, Starry Night) and have loved all of them. I’m based in the U.S.

  • Thanks for the detail review, Sebastian! The list of notes sounds fascinating and tempting. My favorites are Intense Cafe and Chocolate Greedy. I’d love to win because I have been wanting to explore the line more.

    I live in the U.S.

  • concertslover says:

I agree with Sebastian about the love for contrasting notes, whether it be sense of smell or taste. The smokey Oud versus the sweet honey, vanilla & cinnamon scents seems like it could be a very intoxicating mix. I did notice that there was really no mention of the leather or patchouli after the initial notes scrolling. I am curious if they are present, since those are some of my favorites. I do appreciate the amber/vanilla dry down as well. Thanks for the draw.
    From USA

  • I liked how he said the very contrasting notes have come together and blended great. Oud and honey are both great notes.

Thanks for the contest! I’m in the US

  • Sebastian’s review really made me curious to try this fragrance because of his description of the contrasting notes. I have only tried a honey fragrance that L’occitane used to have and I am trying to imagine it combined with Oud. I want to try this because I love the Montale Oud note in so many of their fragrances. I really like their Cuir d’Arabie.
    I live in the USA.

  • Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful review! I’ve tried Chypre Vanille and I love it. This one sounds so delightful and I adore cinnamon notes.

    Thanks! USA

  • This video review was terrific. Seeing Sebastian’s enthusiasm and hearing inflections makes the review more meaningful. I love ambers, and orientals and I would love to try this unusual sounding scent. We keep bees so the honey angle is intriguing! I live in the US.

  • Alaeddin Gabsi says:

I am thinking between Monatle Honey woud, Oud Isphahan, or Montale Black Oud. I love your presentations. Thank you very much.

  • Ada Jarvis says:

I have heard that Montale collection perfumes are really good. I love perfumes. I would like t try them!
