L’Artisan Parfumeur Champs De Fleurs Cologne (Anne Flipo) 2018- New Perfume Review

A fragrance that sings a hymn to the springtime, L’Artisan Parfumeur Champ De Fleurs Cologne is a lovely and bright scent that combines fresh fruits with dewy lily of the valley and jasmine. The result is a silk charmeuse scarf of a fragrance that makes me want to throw my shoes off and run and dance on fresh green lawn.

“While the air is still fresh, and spring has barely opened the first buds, a scent murmurs on the skin. Small lily bells and lacy jasmine, while still developing, breathe in the humidity of the dawn. A fragrance that promises optimism as does the dawn. Never have white flowers been so transparent. This white bouquet, interpreted as a refreshing cologne, is covered with a scintillating dew.” -L’Artisan Parfumeur

Perfumer Anne Flipo of IFF (La Chasse Aux Papillions, Oeillet Savauge for L’Artisan, the L’Homme range for YSL, Invictus for Paco Rabanne, and recently La Vie Est Belle for Lancome (the top selling perfume in France for three years running) is a master of the perfume arts, having created countless successful fragrances. She softens her touch with L’Artisan Parfumeur Champs De Fleurs, a cologne that feels as light as a spring breeze and fits in perfectly with the L’Artisan sensibility.

Opening with a bright blast of pithy grapefruit that’s sweetened with a dab of pear, L’Artisan Parfumeur Champs De Fleurs immediately feels as sunny and bubbly as a glass of Prosecco at the height of summer.

The color of the jus is a pale “Millennial Pink” and sparkles in the semi-faceted bottle. The jasmine shows its face slowly, muted by the warm amber and musk undertones and the clean plank-ish scent of the white cedar.

There’s a touch of a laundry scent, but of the “crisp-white-shirt-hanging-to-dry-in-the-morning-sun” variety so it never feels soapy, but rather clean, fresh, and ultimately inviting. Like so many others, I have long loved many in the L’Artisan Parfumeur collection, and still hold a handful on my “unicorn” search list.

I happen to love summer style colognes and white florals and L’Artisan Parfumeur Champs De Fleurs suits me perfectly. I DO miss the old bottles with the gold caps and color coded labels, but it’s a small price to pay for a new rock-solid well blended scent that I will get a lot of wear from in the warmer months.Notes: Grapefruit, pear, lily of the valley, jasmine, white cedar, musk, amber

Disclosure: The bottle and the opinions are my own.

Thank you Robert for this wonderful article. Champs De Fleurs sounds great.
I’m a big fan of L’Artisan Parfumeur and I miss the old bottles with heavy gold caps too. Caligna, which I own, has a beautiful bottle and box.
    Sometimes things change, though.

  • I haven’t been fond of many LArtisan Parfumeur for awhile although I love chasse aux papillons and I have a bottle of the limited edition iris pallidia. dzing and Traversee au bosophere I like too. Silk charmeuse and running barefoot in the grass sounds beautiful. I miss the older bottles too

Colognes make me happy year round, and I especially adore them as the weather warms in the spring. Champs de Fleurs is one I will look to sniff very soon as I love Annie Flipo’s La Chasse aux Papillons. If this new scent has something in common then I will be in heaven. Hope to try Champs de Baies too. Thank you for this review, very exciting!
