Kiss me Kate: Windsor Infidelity and CaFleureBon’s ‘Secret Scent Notes’ To The Future Duchess of Cambridge + Penhaligon’s Amaranthine Draw

Kissing an Heir

There are 41,900,000 results on Google for "Royal Wedding" as of April 24th 2:00 EST . Imagine being so visible that your every move, bad hair day, silly expression is chronicled?

The tabloids are all blathering about how you have already put up with Prince William’s infidelity.Ms. Kate Middleton soon to be  a royal spouse and possibly the Queen of England, will your marriage prove an exception to Windsor family marital infidelity? Speculating is not our style; we have plenty of history of cheating spouse here 'across the pond'. Our most beloved presidents notably Thomas Jefferson, John F. Kennedy, Bill Clinton, just couldn’t keep their pants zipped. Stand by your man is your prerogative; if these allegations are true. Unless there are hidden cameras planted in your honeymoon suite, you will be in the pulic eye even more once you are a Princess. We believe you are up for the challenge after the public wedding is over.

British Pre-Raphaelite Dante Gabriel Rosetti painted Verticordia during the reign of Queen Victoria

CaFleureBon has a secret to share; the captivating power of fragrance is intoxicating and it is what your wafting that might keep your Prince from drifting. Here are a few suggestion for after the wedding, (no one will smell you in that carriage anyway unless you toss scent sachets into the crowds)

Fragrances with Jasmin are a wonderfully scented aphrodisiac. (Jasmine seeds are POISONOUS so be careful if you suspect a Royal plot, there is Tudor blood running through the House of Windsor still). Roses have been used for centuries in love potions and the petals are edible. Musk is also a well known aphrodisiac.

Here are our suggestions (and all are from British Perfumeries); to quote another well known William…William Shakespeare “A strange invisible perfume hits the sense

From Sarah Barton KingThe Pink Room UK- No 1. With notes of bergamot, rose, jasmine, lily of the valley, violet, vanilla, moss, musk this fragrance has all three " do not stray" notes to spellbind your Prince

Clive Christian X or C for Women: Brings sexy back with notes of peach, Sicilian mandarin, bergamot, rhubarb, pineapple, Egyptian jasmine, rose, lily of the valley orris, patchouli, cedarwood, vetiver, vanilla, and musk.

From Ormonde Jayne London: Ta’if is memorable and mesmerizing with notes of pink pepper, saffron, dates, rose, freesia, orange blossom, jasmine, broom, and amber. You can bathe in it, spritz it and even smoothe it on.

From Jo Malone London: White Jasmine and Mint is a bewitching fragrance inspired by a sun-drenched morning in an English country garden, with notes of jasmine, lily, orange flower and rose on the morning breeze. An unexpected twist of soft and sensual wild mint stimulates the senses.

But my personal pheramonal pick is Penhaligon’s London Established in 1870 (when Queen Victoria reigned and whose devoted husband Prince Albert was besotted by his Royal wife the Queen) Amaranthine, aka “Amaranthigh” … the penultimate sexy scent.

Amaranthine’s top notes are green tea, white freesia, banana tree leaf, coriander seed oil, and cardamom absolute; its heart notes are rose, carnation, clove oil (a little spice never hurts), orange blossom ( sensual and seductive), ylang ylang oil ( a 2-fer: calms and is an aphrodisiac), and Egyptian jasmine absolute; and its base is musk, vanilla (calming), sandalwood, condensed milk, and tonka bean absolute. Note: This was Perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour' s first fragrance for Penhaligon’s.

Ms. Middleton, I think you will need an heir and a spare!

Have a wonderful honeymoon (and as Douglas Adam's says "Don't Panic")!

Our draw is sponsored by Penhaligon’s London who had no idea we would be using Amaranthine for this article. (since they are not endorsing any of their fragrances for the Royal couple). Penhaligon’s promised CaFleureBon a draw for 50ml of Amaranthine on our first birthday March 22, 2011. We thought this was a more momentous occasion. Please leave a comment about scent as an aphrodisiac, advice for Kate Middleton and Amaranthine in particular. Draw closes April 29, 2011 5:00 AM EST .

  • Amaranthine is one of my favorites! I get that sexy vibe from it (dirty, naughty!) only sometimes… But the unpredictability is part of the draw. I'd get a huge giggle if I found out Kate wore this on her wedding day – or her honeymoon!

  • I think that Amaranthine would be a lovely fragrance for Kate to wear for her wedding!

  • Jen and charlotte all are scents of seduction because of the aphrodisiac qualities of the raw ingredients No 1 has a huge quantity of them of the four for me I find X very appropriate if only for the irony of the royal crown stopper

  • Amaranthine was the first  scent I bought for myself…and it was the musty, body dry down (to me) that makes it one of my perfect aphrodisiac scent. To me, aphrod. is a scent that smells like another human who has settled in very close to me. The scent of intimacy, not sex, but being that near to another human…For Kate, I would tell her that she is going to have to learn to laugh at things…and that you can never please everyone! Hold onto yourself and those things that make you happiest…

  •  Amaranthine will be a wonderful  kick off for Kate. There is already chemistry between this couple and no matter what is said about infidelity with the Royals, both of these people know about love and love will be their guidence.Don't under estimate them. The Aphrodisiac quality of the fragrance will enhance what they already know about each other and make it all the more playful. The Cardamom absolute, Rose, Clove and orange Blossom will give that sophisticated sensual middle Eastern feeling or behind the veil look that Kate will sometime give us. Ylang Ylang and the Egyptian  Jasmine absolute combo will be the richly seductive heart.  Vanilla ,Musk and Sandalwood can only enhance this leaving no room for anything else!

  • I'll be helping to scent my friend's daughter next year when she marries her English love. It's all too much romance! Amaranthine sounds divine. Condensed milk – yum.

  • Amaranthine is a super sexy fragrance and i think it would suit Kate just fine on her wedding night 🙂 Advice for Kate is, ignore what the tabloids report as most of the time its not true anyway. Live your life to the fullest and enjoy every moment with your future king. Fragrances and food have always played a big part in the art of attraction, i feel there quite a few fragrances that would be very seductive.

  • My husband literally says that perfume is an aphrodisiac, and he sometimes requests Tolu by Ormonde Jayne. So my advice is, wear whatever you prefer most of the time, but if there is something that makes your husband weak in the knees, keep a good supply of it and employ it as needed for those special moments.

  • Nina Z- well Ormonde Jayne Tolu includes notes of orange blossom, clary sage, juniper berry, lily of the valley, orchid, rose, amber, frankincense, tolu balsam and tonka bean

my only question  orchid flowers canot be  extracted so i wonder if they mean the seeds

  • Well, naturally perfume/scent is an aphrodesiac. Otherwise, why bother one ight ask ?  My advice for Kate Middleton would be to continue wearing the same fragrance when she and William "fell in love . I hear it was Dior's Dune. Scent is a powerful aphrodesiac, but is also associated with memory.
I might add some new perfumes to create an asociation with happy occasions like their wedding and honeymoon. I would love to be entered in the drawer.
Good luck to Kate and William !

  • I have not sniffed Amaranthine yet. It sounds lovely (as is Kate). I think she should wear something sexy, confident and beautiful for the wedding. My advice for her is to not believe everything you hear/read and follow your heart.  You have to give yourself 100% for a marriage to work and so does your spouse. If he's going to cheat, he will do it no matter what you do. Be true to yourself.

  • Perfume helps in romantic situations, no doubt. But people don't like the same scents, so I'm not sure that the same fragrance "works" for all. In my case, I find incense and woods quite aphrodisiac. And my boyfriend loves cinnamon and citrus.
My only advice to Kate Middleton is to be herself and not to lose her natural manner. They seem to be really in love with each other, so I hope that they are very happy together.
Amaranthine is a lovely scent. It's really comfortable, sweet but not cloying. I like it very much.
    Thanks for the draw!

  • Anna in Edinburgh says:

I can only wish them luck. In the midst of all the hoopla and uproar, the best aphrodisiac would be to remember why they chose to be together and to hang on to each other as tightly as they can.

  • Years ago a boyfriend told me that men love the scent of vanilla…that it's pretty much a universal aphrodisiac for them- and I think he may have been right…any perfume that contains vanilla automatically smells a little sexier than ones that don't…As for Kate Middleton- I wish her the best of luck- but given the history of marital fidelity among nobles, aristocrats, royals, etc- she's going to need it..I just hope her marriage breaks the mold…Amaranthine, by the way, is fabulous…a perfect fragrance for Spring…extremely feminine…floral- but unlike other florals out there…Unique and beautiful…

  • I agree with Leslie about vanilla as an aphrodisiac. Which makes a vintage Shalimar a great option  for a wedding night . Miss Middleton seems rather overwhelmed so a comfort scent would be advisable too. I don't know what the weather is like where she is but  I'm thinking something like Cuir de Russie if the weather is not too hot and maybe Boxeuses if it is. Comfy but not too much and still staying on the aprodisiac theme. My sample of Amaranthine doesn't record as really steamy but then again, it's been a while.

  • I have a sample of Amaranthine, and I agree with you, it's a very sexy scent.  I find Jasmin, especially indolic jasmine, to be very sensual.

  • Sadly, my husband doesn't particular care for scented products so perfume certainly isn't an aphrodisiac when it comes to him!  I try to get him to wear fragrance for me but haven't been successful. That said, I continue to wear perfume every day but try to be respectful. Amaranthine is gorgeous and one of the best scents to be issued in the last couple of years.  It wears as well in warmer weather as it does the cooler months so I love that it works for me year-round!

Advice for Kate….my life is so vastly different from the one she'll be living. I cannot imagine living with the stress she must be feeling. However, I hope she will advocate for her children and push to raise them as she sees fit much as Princess Diana fought for her boys. I'll be watching on Friday as William marries Kate just as I did when his mother married his father 30 years ago. Perhaps wearing my (almost gone) decant of Amaranthine.

  • You don't have to enter me in this drawing since I already have a bottle of Amaranthine.  My advice to Kate is something I heard a few months ago and I can't remember where:
Women think their husbands are going to change but they don't. Men think their wives aren't going to change but they do.

  • I have never tried Amaranthine and would love to try it. Advice for Kate: get ready to ride the roller coaster!

  • Amaranthine is a beautiful fragrance. Half naughty, half innocent. I would love getting a bottle but I don't think it would be a great choice for a wedding day. Pink Room UK- No 1 would be a much better choice.
A scent as aphrodisiac, probably just a question of taste. I know  my nose doesn't consider many notes mentioned above an aphrodisiac. 😉  I can say the same about my husband.
I don't have any advice for Kate Middleton. Whatever makes her happy. All I know about her it is from TV and internet. Probably 90% of that is not even the truth. She has family and close friends. i am sure she gets plenty of advice from them.

  • Scent as an aphrodisiac is a funny thing:  for me, wearing certain scents help me to feel sexier; for my partner, the scent (and taste!) can sometimes be a distraction.  So advice for Kate if she's using scent to entice – apply where you won't be kissed.   Fewer distractions!  😉
Even applied sparingly, Amaranthine is quite beguiling.  I've nursed my little sample and would adore a bottle, to cast my own trail on hot summer nights.  The milky jasmine, rough sandalwood, and delicious musk make a combination even my picky partner enjoys.  🙂
On a serious note, Kate seems very centered, strong, and calm – I hope she always maintains that grace.  My only advice in those matters is for her to be true to herself and to maintain joy in life and in her love.
Thanks for the great article and awesome giveaway!  🙂

  • Kiss me Kate article is about AFTER the wedding and noting ingredients that act as an aphrodisiac. Read Vanessa Musson’s article for the Big Day Mone was for the big night!!!

  • I'm among those who think that scent as an aphrodisiac is a matter of taste and very dependent upon the moment and circumstances.
I don't have advice for Kate Middleton, but rather compliments for the intelligence, grace and poise she has demonstrated over the last seven years of intense media scrutiny and tabloid tall tales. I wish her all the best in the future.
As for Amarantine — I haven't had the pleasure of trying it yet, but I'd love to. I tend to like fragrances that many find a bit "dirty" and love that it has been nicknamed "Amaranthigh".

  • I am a big fan of Creed Love in white for it's fresh Bergamot note and slightly spicy bite. Wishing the happy couple a lifetime of hapiness.

  • Michellle Hunt says:

I read somewhere that scent acts as an aphrodisiac not only in the way it affects your partner, but also in the way that it affects the wearer.  Taking this thought full circle, wearers of fragrance were perceived as more attractive in photographs (I wish I remember where I read about this study!)
Kate (and every woman) should be self confident and wear the fragrances that please her, as well as her partner.
I am intrigued by the description of a "condensed milk" note in Amaranthine!

  • I think Amaranthine is a perfect choice for Kate – something about the comforting creaminess, lush tropical florals and animalic undercurrent gives it a uniquely sultry charm.

  • I like Amaranthine quite much and would be glad to win it. With regard to Kate, yeas the idea is not bad. Fragrance as an aphrodisiac – it is always just that last drop that adds to a complex attractiveness. Fragrance as an aphrodisiac exclusively itself without any personal charm – no I cannot imagine it, be it even the best perfume worldwide 🙂 Thanks for entering me.

  • Kate seems to me to be a very self confident girl and I actually believe Princess Di would have loved her.
I think she likes quite tailored clothing and so she won't go for a 'frilly' sugary perfume. She would do well with Amaranthine. I love the idea of the aphrodisic but I think they are so in love with each other that they each are the other's aphrodisiac.
BUT…..Gosh I would be thrilled were she to choose The Pink Room Parfum No1.

  • scent is of course a great afrodisiac… the nature's way to let us know whose genes going to mix with hours to make the best babies 🙂 biology aside, when bottled, scent can be a powerful turn on (or off). it's incredible how much it influences people.
Amarinthe sounds wonderful. would love to try that.

as for Kate.. she seems to be a smart girl to make her own intelligent decisions. my advice would be – wear what makes you happy, Kate 🙂

  • wI would love to try Amaranthine-and , by the sound of it, should suit Kate, but what about Eau des Merveilles-to suggest warm sand by the the sea…
wishes of happiness for the young couple
