“Suppose we suddenly wake up and see that what we thought to be this and that, ain't this and that at all?”

Jack Kerouac

Anais Biguine, the perfumer of Jardins D'Ecrivains was so fascinated by The Beat Generation, the cultural and literary movement that began in the USA in the 1950s,  that she created a new fragrant offering to the acknowledged leaders, William S Burroughs (author of Naked Lunch), Allen Ginsberg (author of  Howl) & Jack Kerouac, (author of On the Road). This was a time when a small group of literati and artists questioned the decade’s fascination with morals and materialism and searched for something more meaningful. Anti Establishment, Anti Government these avant garde men and women experimented with sex, spiritualism and influenced the “counterculture” and rebellion the late 1960s.
