Christopher Chong Creative Director of Amouage
In 2012, Creative Director Christopher Chong of Amouage was the first to be featured in our Creative Directors in Perfumery series because he is one of the most passionate, multifaceted, and focused Creative Directors of the past decade; he is involved in every aspect of Amouage perfumes from brief to bottle.

Whilst every Amouage perfume has a story behind it, Memoir Man is one of the most fascinating. According to this exclusive quote from Christopher, “The story behind Memoir Man is inspired by the 19th century subculture of the flâneur participating in an underworld of decadent activities after a drinking spree of absinthe. I’m playing with a contrast of hyperrealism and hallucination.”
Created in collaboration with Karine Vinchon-Spehner of Robertet in 2010, (Mme Vinchon-Spencer has also worked with Christopher on Interlude Woman released in 2012, and Opus III also in 2010) they have created one of the most unique of the Amouage fragrances. -Michelyn Camen, Editor in Chief
