UPDATED FRAGRANCE NEWS: Penhaligon’s States “More Duchuafour”

There has been much ado about Bertrand Duchaufour ‘leaving' Penhalgion’s. The British perfumery established in 1870, by William Penhaligon, has been awarded Royal Warrants by Her Majesty Queen Alexandra in 1903, His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh in 1956 and, most recently, His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales in 1988.

According to a Vice President of the Company, “Bertrand Duchaufour has never been our in-house perfumer at Penhaligon’s, though he has worked on three recent launches for us. He is a freelance perfumer and works for a variety of different houses. So it is inaccurate to say that he is ‘leaving’ I think. We will continue to work with Bertrand for future releases. Nathalie Vinciguerra is our ‘Head of Fragrance’ and has been for three years. Nathalie works with our chosen perfumers to bring our fragrances to launch. She is not a perfumer and does not create fragrances for us. We continue to work with a variety of perfumers, briefing them for certain projects”.

UPDATE: I recieved an email this morning from Penhaligon's stating that M. Duchaufour will be working on new projects for Penhaligon's, one  new fragrance to be realeased in July and into 2012..'and beyond".  Certainly looking forward to  an interview with Bertrand Duchaufour and Mark Behnke's visit to Esxence. This has all the makings of a suspense film

  • Well, what else could they say? Time will show how genuine that statement was. If Mr. Duchaufour will not create any new scents for Penhaligon in the next couple of years it wouldn't matter if they call it "leaving" or not.

  • Ah, the mystery deepens?? BD is becoming like the title character of "Where's Waldo?"!

  • I am  a lover of Pentaglion perfume. Will this change the innovative scents to come? I hope not.
