Fragrance Inspires Fashion? Branding CK One to Teens

We know that countless designers put their name first on the fashion then on the flacon… But launching a whole brand of apparel and accessories inspired by a fragrance?

Calvin Klein and the brand’s iconic fragrance, CK One (which is produced by fragrance giant Coty). Calvin Klein, Inc. announced on 9/27 that Warnaco Inc, the global
licensee for Calvin Klein Jeans and Swimwear, will launch a new collection of men’s and women’s jeans, underwear, and swim under the name CK One. The Spring 2011 collection will be in stores in January.

Known as the first unisex fragrance, targeting Gen X,  CK One was one of the first scents to go from behind the counter to other venues, including Tower Records.  The controversial and adrogynous ad campaigns featued the 'it girl of 90s' grunge',  Kate Moss.

CK ONE became one of the hottest selling mainstream fragrances of the '90s. But will a whole new generation of iPhone toting teens want their parents' brand on their butts?
