Esxence 2018: Gabriella Chieffo Lattedoro – New Perfume Review + Touch in Liquid Form Draw

Gabriella Chieffo via Gabriella Chieffo

The hustle and excitement of Esxence, yet always I seek Gabriella Chieffo out (Italian creative director and now perfumer), as her work resounds through with the rawness of exposed emotions, to be introduced to her newest fragrance, Lattedoro, the uncontaminated balm of Friendship.

 History, Sirithil©

Gabriella Chieffo draw us into an emotion of such raw alacrity with Gabriella Chieffo Lattedoro that many will recognise and have been thrust into, the aftermath of a destructive relationship which leaves the Heart sundered and a confusion of the soul that opens us, raw and in tatters, reeling in a battered confusion.

Gabriella Chieffo Lattedoro, from the outset, Bergamot infused spices, exudes a warmth that instantly is a beholding Grace, a gathering of all the scattered pieces to a still in – breathing of a comfort and warm- heartedness. In an absolute stroke of genius Gabriella has crafted the closest one can get to ‘Touch’ within a fragrance, the sense of touch written in the sense of smell.

Vogue, Slevin- Aaron©

Out beyond tears and the tearing of the heart lies this sheer envelopment. The human estate is capable of so much torment one upon the other yet in this Fragrance is sweet redemption, the glimpsing of luminous hope and all the beauty that we are capable of in our relations.‘You collected the pieces of what I was and joined them together with the Golden glue of hugs, you cured me with Honey and words, and called me with the most beautiful name, Friend.  You washed away all my pain with Milk and with the Sun you have within you defeated the anguish which freezes thought’ Gabriella Chieffo

The scent of warm skin on skin contact, but no hefty heaving physicality this is warmth of contact without agenda, a caring embrace of tender release, the relief to be able to surrender to the enfoldment of another for purely the comfort. Holding of a vulnerable woman in her time of most fragility, the gathering of pieces to be placed together in the safe confines of friendship and a Love free of conditions.  Here in fragrance lies the mystery of all the beauty we are capable of.  It is a key, a little note of reminder.

Its spicy warmth and nourishing milky quality is a central component of this heady brew of sublimity. The heart of Lattedoro, is true to its translation, ‘Golden Milk”, swept through with sublime coconut, silky as a pannacotta shot through with gorse flower and the downiness of Iris. The swirling of comfort akin to scented oils bathing and swathing a weary body in a hot bath.

 Gisele Bundchen, Vogue Brazil

Vapours of sandalwood invite a deeper level of creamy enfoldment, the sinking into a safety of a cocooning, within the soft tenderness of these notes are a veiled strength which is the abiding endurance of Lattedoro. A subtle sweetness of vanilla that never intrudes, never needs to ask questions, just welcome sensations of gestures of care, held in the subtlest of leather gloves. Lattedoro goes beyond the expression of emotion to embody the very sensation of Touch in liquid form.

Maison Gabriella Chieffo Lattedoro

It seems Gabriella Chieffo Lattedoro has tried to interpret human sensuality. The perfume starts on cool note of bergamot infused spices but soon ventures into a warm territory including notes like sandalwood. Thanks a lot for the draw. I am in US.

  • Steve A. says:

I’m interested in how the coconut and iris play together. If I could touch this perfume it would be the first. US

  • Colourblind says:

This was one of my favorite read at esxence. Dying literally to try this!! From France!

  • This perfume sounds really wonderfully from the base of the review. All of the notes sounds absolutely good, mostly because there is coconut. I have not tried many perfumes with coconut note, however coconut is one of my favorite note. Thank you very much for the draw. I live in Europe.

  • A Oriental Vanilla fragrance to comfort one’s soul… Creating a peace of mind, a relaxing effect of a tropical milk vibe… This fragrance the sense of touch written in the sense of smell, how beautiful! Yes count me in! I haven’t explored the note of coconut in a scent. I do live in the US… THANK YOU

  • Carol Starwater says:

I am always hunting for the perfect Iris fragrance and a Milky cinnamon infused Iris sounds just perfect !
I cannot recall ever sensing a touch from a fragrance although there are many I have loved .

Thank you for this generous draw .
I must get my nose on this one !!

  • DespinaVnt says:

I am fascinated by the phrase “the sense of touch written in the sense of smell.”
I would love to experience a sort of synaesthesia prompted by a fragrance – and this particular one sounds like not only able to give the sensation of touching, but perhaps also of taste!
    I live in EU (France).
    Thank you,
    D.

  • I’ve never heard about this house before but after reading this nice review i would love to try it. Those notes cinnamon, ginger, coconut and iris are some favourites of mine, this juice must be really tasty 🙂 Thanks for this awesome draw, i live in the EU.

  • Just Add Light says:

There are fragrances out there that have auras so thick, you might as well bring a flashlight to get through them. lol Luckily, I don’t own any of them, but I know of two friends that do. If we’re talking synesthesia, I have actually experienced touching and smelling a sound in a regression session! Outside of the body, it’s actually much more natural than people would think. Perhaps that’s why Danu’s description of Lattedoro and associated images resonate with me so deeply. I can literally feel the experience in my body – a bath of spiced milk, coconut and vanilla enveloping my skin amidst the smell of thick florals and creamy sandalwood. Very relaxing. Very comforting. Almost…sensuous. Canada.

  • This is definitely a comfort scent….cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, milk and vanilla. I’m in the US. Thanks for the generous draw.

  • kaitracid says:

I love the story behind this and the photos are so well chosen!
I love almost every note individually, especially the iris, cocnut, ginger, sandalwood and I would really like to try the perfume. I live in the EU.

  • fleurdelys says:

I’ve been fortunate enough to try Quasicielo from Gabriella Chieffo and I’m very curious to experience the new launch, Lattedoro.
Gabriella’s perfumes seem to explore the human nature, the emotions and I believe Lattedoro is no exception.
Danu’s article is very poetic in it’s description and the concept of “touch in liquid form” is a very interesting idea.
I haven’t been able to experience a touch from a fragrance, but Lattedoro seems like it could offer that tender embrace.
Thank you for a wonderful article and a generous draw

  • Goodness – this sounds so delicious. I love anything with milky notes. Sign me up! Would be perfect for a melbourne autumn!

Would love to win – thank you for the draw!

  • This is the perfume from Esxence that I read about and immediately wanted. After a winter of heavy scents, I’m craving something softer, but still comforting. Danu’s description hits all of the right buttons for me. I’m in the US. Thanks for the draw.

  • Very artistic approach, loved the review and whole presentation. Liquid form of sensations, senses can really be like a “touch”, because sensation of smell is one of the biggest trigger to the brain.
Stunning selection of notes for a composition, iris, ginger, cinnamon, vanilla, this must be a really comforting and touching creations.

  • Jake smith says:

This is one that immediately appealed to me with a nice milky coconut one of my favorite notes add a little cinnamon vanilla and sandalwood it’s like it was made for me. I’m gonna have to get my nose on this one for sure. Sometimes I do kinda get that feeling I can touch my fragrance they sometimes smell as if they actually have a texture to them its quite interesting now that you mention it I never really thought about it. I live in the USA. Thank you for the wonderful review I feel like you really captured the spirit of this one it got me excited to smell it!

  • Excellent review by Danu Seith Fyr! I love and respect when the house and the perfumer are the same person. This fragrance sounds very intriguing with notes of Cinnamon, milk, and honey. I would at first think that this would lean feminine. However perhaps the sandalwood, leather, and ginger would balance this back towards unisex. Sounds like a very beautiful fragrance. I really love the quote i’m assuming was written by Gabriella herself ‘You collected the pieces of what I was and joined them together with the Golden glue of hugs, you cured me with Honey and words, and called me with the most beautiful name, Friend. You washed away all my pain with Milk and with the Sun you have within you defeated the anguish which freezes thought’ Thanks again!

  • roxhas1cat says:

What a beautiful writing comparing the fragrance to what all humans go through in life’s journey. The fragrance sounds like pure comfort in a bottle. It brought back memories of my friends especially during high school who were there for me. I’m most interested in the milk note and how this works with the others. I am unfamiliar with this line. I’ve never felt I could touch a perfume, just the fragrance “touching” me in some way. Thanks for the draw. US.

  • Thanks for review and draw!!!
It’s interesting to create perfume inspired by emotion, but it is not new in perfumery.
I think it will very beatiful perfume- milky gourmand, spicy. Will it suits to man?

I need to expand my library of soothing comfort scents. Maybe we all do! Life is hectic and stressful and fragrance can play such a huge role in soothing the soul. The perfume about which I feel this way most is Sarah Horwitz’s “Perfect Veil.” It is my go-to scent when I want cocooning calm and peace and to forget about the outside world, it is as an enveloping and invisible hug. I live in the US and thank you for this draw.

What simple, beautiful words. Thank you for this beautiful review and for the generous draw! I look forward to trying this… it speaks to me.

  • Wow! This fragrance sounds fantastic. What I enjoyed most about this review is understanding the depth of the fragrance. – Arkansas, USA

  • Great review! The combination with milk accord and iris sounds so good.

Thank you Danu for a wonderful review!
Gabriella Chieffo’s creations explore the human emotions in a very artistic way and Lattedoro might be the same.
A comforting scent that can offer a sensation of a tender embrace sounds amazing.
Thank you for a very generous draw

  • NiceVULady says:

“Here in fragrance lies the mystery of all the beauty we are capable of.” One certainly can be intrigued by a fragrance which can come so close to the feeling of touch. I don’t recall feeling that with other scents. This sounds lovely, thanks to Danu’s review. Thanks for the draw. I’m in the USA

  • Spices and sandalwood – sounds dreamy! And yes! Some of my richer, more sensuous fragrances have so much body to them, I do feel like I could almost “touch” them. They feel like a “veil” around my body.
    I live in the US.

  • jeremyn87 says:

The review makes the fragrance sound like a spicy drink. Love the idea of it. Sometimes I feel like I can “touch” a fragrance when it has a creamy, silky smell to it. I’m in the US

  • doowtnehpets says:

What appeals to me is the whole milky thing going on. Don’t think I’ve ever smelled a milk accord in a fragrance. The rest of the notes sound great. I touch my fragrances every time I spray them on skin, haha.

  • ElenaChiss says:

The combination of coconut and vanilla seems really interesting and nose-catching. I do not know any creation from this house, so Lattedoro would be a nice starting point.

    Europe. Thanks for the draw!

  • Richard Potter says:

I love Gabriella’s work. Always strikingly different. This one sounds amazing. Thanks for the draw. Touch me, please. USA.

  • Great report and thanks for the giveaway. Gabriella seems to do great work. Haven’t tried anything from this line. The perfume sounds good as well. I really like ginger and iris in fragrances. Sounds like a warm scent
    Thanks. California

  • Unfortunatly, I tested only a one Gabriella’s perfume- very interesting, but can not finally say I like it ir not because it was only first sniff.
I liked tender milky , spicy perfume. So nice descriptions for example ” The scent of warm skin on skin contact” and others.
    I live in Armenia.

  • Danu’s review really touched me as the experiences described were recently part of my life first-hand. I’ve never felt like I could touch a perfume but I am intrigued to feel this first-hand. I”m in the U.S., thank you for the giveaway!

  • Danu Seith-Fyr says:

I am so very grateful for all these beautiful comments, it is a privilege to translate this intimacy from the Perfumer into words that can touch another, and for Cafleurebon. You all encourage and support me. Thank you.
This really is a profound fragrance.

  • Catanosmia says:

I love the sound of this! The idea of a fragrance representing the “balm of friendship” and the warm comfort that it gives is a beautiful inspiration. I’ve never felt that I could touch a perfume but they do seem to bring to mind textures quite often: creamy, sharp, smooth…so I feel like I understand where this might be coming from. Thank you for the draw, I’m in the US.

  • Laurentiu says:

Vanilla and sandalwood always is a good idea to put in a perfume. It is soft, tender and beautiful. A melange made in heaven. EU resident here. Thanks for the opportunity to test this.

  • doveskylark says:

How nice to think the about the power of the human touch. I know that when I am nervous and troubled and when someone touches my trembling hand, I feel comforted. I feel the sense of touch from lilac and gardenia fragrances. I think it’s just the softness of the flowers themselves and my associations with them that create the sense of fragrant touch.
    I live in the USA.

  • m.r.everything says:

Lattedoro sounds beyond intriguing to me. The “Golden Milk” has me hooked! I LOVE milk accords in perfumery. It gives this creamy depth that’s not like much else. In January Scent Projects Selperniku, it has this milk accord that makes me want to smell my wrists all day long. Its so creamy and sultry! Then there is 21 by Costume National which I adore… It is a favorite of mine. Its creamy and warm, and just such a pleasant scent. Both of those would be the closest I think I have come to “touch” a perfume. I am hoping this one does the same thing and give the same vibe, but in a different composition. Thank you for the opportunity. It is greatly appreciated! I live in DE, USA!

  • Bubeto_GG says:

    Grear draw…
“sublime coconut, silky as a pannacotta shot through with gorse flower and the downiness of Iris.+Vapours of sandalwood +A subtle sweetness of vanilla that never intrudes” …. just WOW….and i’m on a diet…don’t do this to me haha.
The fragrance that i feel close and i’m touching every time is Plum Japonais by Tom Ford-reminds me my favorite cake my gramma is making-with plum, cinnamon and fir honey.
Winchester VA and Scotland too…from time to time.

  • Wonderful article and very well written. Human touch is vital!! The coconut, iris, sandalwood, and spice sound like I must own this and add it to my collection. Thanks for the draw and I live in the US! 🙂
