Dita Von Teese Unveils Her New Fragrance

Dita Von Teese’s first perfume was introduced in Nice, during the Cannes Film Festival. The fragrance  was created by perfumer Nathalie Lorson, the nose behind many commercial and niche fragrances ( Le Labo Poivre, Lalique Perles de Lalique, the reformulated Acqua di Parma Profumi and Encre Noire). Notes: Bulgarian rose, peony, jasmine, sandalwood, patchouli and musk.

But Dita's already planning her next scent.According to today's Women’s Wear Daily, she said ““I am just dying to do a men’s fragrance,”

Dita would like to create a men’s scent;Women's Wear Daily quotes her as saying “I think we often encounter men (even more than women) wearing the wrong fragrance — strong, overpowering stuff that women don’t like. I think I’d love to be sort of an adviser to make something super sophisticated, unusual and unique.”

She came up with the idea when she started thinking about Mae West, Dita's idol; she  believes Ms. Mae would never create her own celebuscent, instead “she would have done a men’s fragrance".

The Burlesque  Queen  isn’t a huge fan of  sexy men’s fragrance advertising campaigns
.

"They don’t want to look like that. They don’t want to look at that guy showering or with his shirt off,” she said in WWD. “Most of them don’t. There are elegant ways for men [to be] wearing fragrance. It’s just that they’re not the big commercial brands, because those are sort of too sporty, too spicy, too lemony,” she told Women's Wear Daily.

Finally, she admitted she is  already doing the ground work  and will be conducting focus groups, which she plans to attend.

Personally, I think Mae West would have had her own 'private focus' group. Here she is at age 62, surrounded by Mr. Universe  Mickey Hargitay,  He was Hungarian, husband (for a time) to Jayne Mansfield, and father to actress Mariska Hargitay and  (and another body builder) ;“I only like two kinds of men, domestic and imported.”

Editor's Note: it is rumoured that Mae West only wore Patou Joy

  • I love Mae West! She would have come up with something wonderful for the guys. And so will Dita, I’m very excited about her new project. She’s so right about men’s colognes….

  • “Femme Fatale” would indeed have been a most perfectly fitting name for a sexy Dita fragrance. However, I’m not sure that’s entirely correct. I think it’s actually ~ Femme Totale.
(I imagine that “Femme Fatale” was probably wished, but as a trademark probably already taken. By Coty if I’m not mistaken !?)
However I think even “Femme Totale” is just a secondary title, with the actual name being simply “Dita Von Teese”.

I am very much looking forward to sniffing it. And really hoping the “girl’s done good” ! :o) … And would in fact be quite intrigued in what she’d come up with for a mens frag. ~ I think overall Dita has exquisite taste, and this has been probably the only celeb-u-scent that I’ve actually looked forward to. Can’t wait to sniff it.
(The bottle design actually looks pretty much almost exactly what I had thought/guessed she would go for. Even right down to the black tassle detail. ~ The vintage “pump” of course was an easy guess ;o). The only thing I didn’t foresee was the red lacquered pearl.) ~ All in all I think it looks really good for it’s price point !

  • P.S. … Now lets hope it smells as good as it looks (or even better !?)
… And let’s hope that it’s also somewhat “skankier” than most other celeb’ offerings. If any one would (or should be) it would be Dita’s. 🙂

  • This is one celeb scent that I actually have high hopes for, both because of her commitment to being involved in its creation and her strong ideas, and of course Nathalie Lorson is an amazing talent!
