Dior Sauvage (Looking Good Smelling Great for ÇaFleureBon YouTube Video) Fragrance Review + Buzz or Bust Draw

Johnny Depp for Sauvage Dior Ad Campaign (his Hotness)

I have had a huge crush on Johnny Depp since he starred in the  1987 tv series 21 Jump Street.  Of course, once I learned he was the face of the Dior Sauvage Ad Campaign I was excited.  With Johnny Depp's eccentric edginess, I had expectations.  The House of Dior is known for so many iconic perfumes, where do you begin?  There is Diorissimo  composed in 1956 by Edmond Roudnitska (Michel Roudnitska tells us the story of his father meeting Christian Dior and the creation of the perfume of May Day  here), the game changing Dior Homme composed by Olivier Polge in 2005 (now at CHANEL) and the surprisingly good reformulation of Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum 2005 (from Edmond Roudnitska's 1996 benchmark Eau Sauvage) by Dior's in house perfumer Francois Demachy.  We welcome Sebastion Jara, one of our favorite YouTube fragrance personalities and the founder of the Facebook Group Looking Feeling Smelling Great. So how does (Dior Sauvage also by Francois Demachy) fare  according to Sebastion?  Watch his video review

  • I agree with lot of Sebastian ideas…Dior is amazing but this is too safe and not something revolutionary and Depp is also a poor fit..I would expect Depp to represent a fragrance that is as avant garde as Depp’s roles are..Depp used to wear Davidoff’s Zino and then Dior Homme, too when Dior Homme came out….it is clear Dior hopes the safe nature of the scent and Depp’s association would make this one a good money maker. When it comes to Depp, I would imagine him wearing Dior Homme in formal wear and Kouros, Givenchy Gentleman original version in casual wear.. Maybe Antaeus is light doses may also suit him. I am in the US

  • it was a pass for me. i hated this one and gave dior negative points since it’s such a sucker of a scent.

  • I thought this was a really honest review and unlike what I have read and watched elsewhere it didn’t trash it as much as say it was for guys who really don’t care or wear colognes
I haven’t smelled it yet and would like to.
Johnny Depp would wear a really unorthodox perfume I think something like CDG incense Avignon or maybe something androgynous like Jicky
    I live in the USA
    Welcome to Sebastian

  • This is the second “meh review of Sauvage that I’ve seen … so I’m curious to discover whether I agree. I seem to like fragrances that slap me in the face a little, so I bet if it’s as “safe” and accessible as Sebastian makes it sound I won’t be all that gung ho about it. But it never hurts to try! I’m in USA.

  • I agree with Sebastian. Dior is playing safe this time.
I appreciated Dior’s quality, I have 2 fragrances from them which is Dior Homme Sport and Hypnotic Poison edt. I love everything from their Dior Homme line bt sadly they are not really fit in any occasions well except formal.
Sauvage to me serves as a bridge between their current fragrance line, it is not as mature as compare to Eau Sauvage line and more versatile as compare to Dior Homme line. It appeal to the mass market, and everyones gonna like it. However for the price it asks for… U could do better with others IMHO. 🙂
    I’m in Malaysia.

This fragrance journey has been challenging so far, I do love Dior.. I was privileged to sniff Dior homme intense, bought Dior homme in the process.. Most of my purchases are blind buys.. Wanted to blind buy sauvage, not so sure after these reviews.. Would love to win though..

  • I agree with Sebastian. I love Johnny Depp in the film “dead man” of Jim Jarmush I would choose a creation of Andy Tauer, Lonestar Memories. I live in Europe.

  • Johnny Depp is my favorite actor. He is so wonderful. I think something unique, and expensive niche perfume would suit him.

  • I love the sincerity of the review, I am a long time viewer of Sebastian and he is always on point. I am not really surprised that he was not amazed by the new Dior launch because lately Dior tends to be a bit conformist. It would be very interesting to sniff it myself and see if I agree, but up till’ now Sebastian was always accurate! I love his reviews!

It is hard to choose for Johnny Depp, but I will pick Acqua di Parma Colonia Assoluta because it is relaxed but also elegant.

I am registered reader from the EU.

Thank you very much! Wish you all the best!

It’s a nice scent (nothing more nothing less), but I don’t want to have it in my collection though.

  • I’m a huge fan of Sebastian, I’ve been subscribed to him for a very long time on Youtube. I have wanted to try this Dior scent since it was released! I’ve heard great things, but also bad things about it. But it seems like exactly the type of scent that I love. I would imagine Johnny Depp wearing something very high end and elegant. I’d expect him to smell like Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford. I am in Canada and thank you very much for the draw!

  • I’m a very big fan of Dior. I understand they were trying to make a more “modern” and safe scent. I don’t have a problem with it. If people like it, they should wear it. Regardless of how “generic” it may be.

I could imagine Mr. Depp wearing a Dior gem, Dior Homme Intense.
