Charlotte Tilbury The Smokey Bedroom Eyes Kit: The Fallen Angel Luxury Palette Color Coded Eye Shadows & Rock N Khol Liner (Reviews, Photos, Swatches)

The Smokey Bedroom Eyes Kit

The Smokey Bedroom Eyes Kit

I own 37 eyeshadow palettes. Even for a beauty blogger that’s excessive. Lately I have been wearing  Charlotte Tilbury’s The Smokey Bedroom Eyes Kit (specifically The Fallen Angel Palette of four eye colors although the kit also includes a black liner) that is a truly fool proof way to go from “desk to disco”.  Originally a limited edition kit for Holiday, the pans have embossed stars, a mirrored compact and  is slim enough enough to slip in your smallest cosmetic bag. Unfortuntately, Celebrity make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury doesn’t include applicators; is a   shame as the concept of “desk to disco” cannot be achieved without shlepping  separate brushes, so skip trying to apply the night time look in the back of a cab.

Achieving a beautiful smoky eye can use at least six colors, a challenge as the final look can appear  muddy if you apply with a heavy hand. Tightlining is crucial to a true smoky eye  so the kit includes the  Rock N Khol pencil  (normally retails for $27). That is the beauty of The Fallen Angel Palette. The colors are buildable and can be worn wet or dry so that even a newbie can’t mess up.

Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Color Code eye palette Fallen Angel

As in all Charlotte Tilbury shadow kits,  there is a lighter Prime color you apply over the entire eye, a medium Enhance shade to use as a contour color and to rim the upper and lower lashlines, a Pop hue for extra glam on the lid and a Smoke shade that adds drama to the outer eye and can also be used as a liner. Depending on your style, not your skill  It really is uptown you to use all four shades; for many readers Prime and Enhance will be enough.

Fallen Angel Luxury Palette Color Coded Eye Shadows swatches

#1 Prime: a creamy warm light ecru with some shimmer

#2 Enhance: My favorite go-to-color in this palette. It is a warm medium silvery shimmer with a slight golden duo chrome

#4 Smoke: Nearly black heavily pigmented shadow with light shimmer

#3. Pop: This is the final step for glam eyes. It is a warm bronze  glitter shadow with an ultra creamy consistency. Best applied with your finger to the mid eye. It is unique and I cannot think of any dupes.

There is very little fallout from any of the shadows. There is less pigmentation for Prime, Enhance, but is more saturated  with Pop and Smoke. The Rock N Khol Pencil looks very black when I swatched it  in my arm,  but alas in the waterline it was more of a dark grey and transfered. Nothing special. $65/CharlotteTilbury.com

The Dolce Vita

Verdict: The Fallen Angel Luxury Palette is a stand alone kit and doesn’t fit into Ms. Tilbury’ “Get The Celebrity Look” collection. I findit indispensable for a quick and easy smoky eye and great for travel. Shimmer is such that it doesn’t make the skin around the eye look crepeyor settle  into fine lines. I get compliments galore. Con:  I wish I could have bought the palette without the Rock N Khol. The Dolce Vita Palette, which is more sublte and warmer,  works well in tandem with The Fallen Angel and is great if you are more advanced. It is a must for anyone with blue or light eyes.$52

  • Based on this post I ordered this kit, mostly because I am in the stage of “Smokey Eyes for dummys”. So glad that it is fail proof as I haven’t mastered the smokey eye.

  • I love the #2 Enhance shade. I think I will check out Dolce Vita, too, as I have light eyes.. I usually just use one shade of eye shadow and that’s it. My smokey eye tends to look more like all smoke and no mirrors.

  • Ordered!!
I wasn’t familiar with this brand but really like the review and am the exact person who can’t do a nice smoky eye without it looking like a hot mess
