Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lost Cherry Lipstick

Charlotte Tilbury is the British Makeup Artist whose clientele reads like a night on the red carpet at the Oscars or the front row of  the hottest fashion show. There has been a lot of press around her products since their introduction into the US  when the windows of Bergdorf Goodman were devoted to her collection last October. Ms. Tilbury took an interesting”collection” approach to her line; she created ten “iconic” looks: The Ingenue, The Golden Goddess, The Uptown Girl, The Sophisticate, The Rock Chick, The Dolce Vita, The Bombshell, The Vintage Vamp, The Glamour Muse and The Rebel. I suppose there is a bit of each in all women;  it is a lot of fun to spin the wheel on the Charlotte Tilbury” website and see which model or movie star “muses’  suit you.  Based on the wheel, my personal make-up style is The Dolce Vita and The Golden Goddess. The Ingenue, Vintage Vamp and The Rock Chick are the least “me”.

Newish to the line are the Matte Revolution Luminous Modern Matte Long Lasting Lipsticks. The packaging is posh, and  with a bit of a vintage vibe reminding me of 50s style gold lipstick tubes. The lipstick has a squared angled tip which makes it easy to apply. I don’t wear matte lipsticks very often without a gloss;  many are drying and lack dimension. I was pleasantly surprised by the smooth, velvety texture,  and buildable color which can be worn satin to opaque. I didn’t have to add a gloss.  The  long lasting formula contains Lipstick Tree and orchid extracts (yes there is a lipstick tree; Bixa Orellana). I love pink coral lipsticks. I find they flatter my warm complexion and add pop to my pout. One of my favorites in the Matte Revolution lipstick line is Lost Cherry.  But that name!!!  When a friend recently asked me what color I was wearing, she laughed out loud  (maybe in The UK,  losing one’s cherry doesn’t mean the same as it does here stateside; I will have to ask TSF).

Lost Cherry is a medium  pink : with pronounced coral, and very slight blue undertones which  definitely leans warm. I call it my winter “coral”. The company describes the color as “a pop of pastel fuschia, for a fresh and gorgeous look, think Kate Bosworth, Felicity Jones and Cara Delevigne”, all pale skinned British roses.   Think of pink coral shade aswhat teal is to blue;  so if you believe that you can’t wear a  pink-coral lipstick, give Lost Cherry a try.

Overall rating: 9.5 (.5 deduction for the name)

$32 on www.charlottetilbury.com/us, Bergdorf Goodman, and select stockists.

Disclosure: I received this product from Charlotte Tilbury US; opinions my own

  • This seriously looks like a fabulous color. Love the fact it has Orchid Complex in it, which no doubt aids in spreadability and a great emollient property. When I first seen the color and read the name I was trying to make the connection between the two. I’m going to go play on the wheel 🙂 Great review.

  • Hey thanks for the review of the Tilbury matte lipsticks. I did go the site and I definitely want to buy Bond Girl. Love berry colors in the fall. I don’t wear many pink lipsticks but Lost Cherry (yeah HORRIBLE name) is worth trying when I am in Nordies next week.
