CaFleureBon Labor Day Weekend (unisex) Beauty and Fragrance: “Editor Picks” + Fun in the Sun Draw ($1000 +!!!)

Back in 1909, when the trade and labor organizations were formed in the USA, Labor Day was created.

Of course back then most people had jobs. It has turned into a holiday that marks the end of summer fun . Despite tornados, hurricanes, fires, record high temperatures and earthquakes, CaFleureBon hopes you enjoy the upcoming weekend worry free.

I have rounded up the best products I have tested this summer, for men and for women  as a treat for those of us who will labor on Labor Day  and the  weekend  here in the States and of course  the rest of the world,  I chose many  of my favorite  summer  beauty products  and  one steamy fragrance that will take you through an Indian summer. BTW, real men take care of their hair and their skin or  they might end up looking like Keith Richards

Myths: People of color don’t burn. Yes they do!  Although they may have more melacytes; it’s a lottery, I used to bake in the sun  with SPF 4 and only achieved a  medium tan; I never burned,. Did you now most of the damage to your skin was caused before age 18. Be sure to get a regular yearly screening from your doctor. There is no such thing as a safe tan.

Don't ban the soleil totally, sunshine is good for depression and for your health.

Too tan is well too tani. Yes, you want a bit of color, but no you don't want to look like  Snooki or one of the older ladies playing canasta in Boca.Raton(the female counterparts to the photo of Keith Richards)

Hair Care

Straight or fine hair in the summer goes limp but can still frizz.   Pump up the volume with Leonoryl  Greyl and rid the frizz. Of course being a perfumista,  i really love that each treatments has a beautiful scent !

Leonor Greyl’s Shampooing Au Miel-Containing honey and plant extracts, Shampooing Au Miel gently washes away impurities, adding volume to thinning strands and rejuvenating dried out locks.

Leonor Greyl’s  Masque Fleur de Jasmine There is nothing i have tested like this… from its jasmine scent to the way hair of all types look  conditioned , manageable and shiny. Use it every day or once a week on your frazzled ends.

Leonor Greyl’s Mousse Au Lotus Volumatrice-This lightweight all-natural mousse (produced without silicone or alcohol) is perfect for creating bouncy summer locks without weighing hair down. Au Lotus Volumatrice provides protection against suns rays and  provides radiance to damaged hair

Great finishes for après beach is Living proof Straight, which keeps my blow out for days. For Volume and texture try Alterna  Caviar  Anti Aging  molding crème (which is  discontinued  and replaced by a similar product  (so the price is  great  on amazon.com ) and  create beachy waves  at home

Wavy, Thick, Curly,  and damaged  hair  are  prone to the Frizzies and dryness.

Leonor Greyl’s  Award Winning Shampoo Reviviscence– moisturizing, cleansing and repairs.

Leonor Greyl’s  Masque Orchidee- healing and nourishing, the hair cuticle is repaired and a savior for  dry, colored and thick hair

Leonor Greyl’s  Algues et Fleurs is the perfect finish to keeping your curls frizz free

Did you know that 65% of women color their hair starting at age 18.  Your lovely golden locks , rich brunettes , or racy red can turn brassy and faded from the UV rays of the sun. I discovered an amazing product called Sunbrella, that I found in a local salonin Great Neck Thomas Cole Salon, that you spray on before you  swim and protects the hair from any exposure to the elements.it can also be used as a detangler.

Don’t tie your hair back with metal  clasp pony tail holders, it will rub against  the hair strands and cause breakage. Do find fun ways to wear your hair that are low maintenance and fashionable, from braids, to  chignons

For Men: from Leonor Greyl  Gel Keratine you can wear your hair spiky or slicked back . It's perfect after the pool, beach or  anytime you want some style.

BODY AND FACE

SUNSCREEN :Clarins High protection  Sunscreen Spray 50 for the body protects skin from the damaging effects of sun exposure. This Lightweight spray offers high protection and is water and perspiration resistant and is easier to use  so you don’t miss those hard  to reach places. (note: men if you have thinning hair  there’s nothing worse than  a burned pate)

APRES LE SOLEIL:

Too much partying or working 24/7? try  Talika’s  eye contour gel

The  first unisex made-to-measure certified organic cosmetics brand  Absolution  has a  men’s crème with hemp oil, ginseng and calcium (Johnny Depp is a fan). La Crème de l’Homme’s built-in aromatherapy incorporates classic masculine notes of cedar and sandalwood

If you’re like me FAKE IT ! St Tropez self-tanning mousse gives you a  believable  tan in a hurry. For a lighter glow try their gradual tanning crème.

COLOR

I am a die hard  Deborah  Lippmann  fan and these are two of my favorites. Wear alone or layer one coat  over any polish for a more subdued look. Deborah creates celebrity laquers and is also a singer. Some of ehr clients include:Julia Roberts, Gwyneth Paltrow, Mariah Carey, Martha Stewart, Cher, Sarah Jessica Parker  as well as collaborations with  deisgners Zac Posen and  for fall Narcisco Rodriguez  (stormy weather)

To keep the color from changing and yellowing  I recommend  'On a clear Day' formulated with an ultra violet light inhibitor to prevent yellowing of whites and soft pinks, and discoloring of darker shades

Make-up

Orlane  has a fabulous bronzer in three shades  for face and body that not only does not change color but maintains its own natural, Sheer bronze hue Cuivre 2 is best for most skins . i wear it when I faux glow for a believable not  dirty kissed by the sun look (so does Emily Blunt)

Fragrance Tip : Do not wear  scent to the beach. The scent  isn't the same  once you apply sunscreen and attract bugs.

The perfect scent for steamy nights? Douglas Hannant by Piguet, the first new Piguet in 40 years. No one has topped Mark Behnke’s review ot Aurelien  Guichard’s unisexy  scent.

"It makes for one of the easier to wear tuberoses on the market. As much as I admire the opening of Douglas Hannant de Robert Piguet it is the jasmine in the base that truly enchants me most. M. Guichard uses a beautiful version of jasmine absolute and plays it off a creamy sandalwood. This woody floral ending is joined with a sheer white musk. It is here where Douglas Hannant de Robert Piguet does not feel like anything that came before in the Robert Piguet Parfums library"

Michelyn Camen, E-I-C

  • Being a lacquerhead AND a nail polish blogger, I definitely want those Deborah Lippman’s! She makes the most wonderful glitter polishes, and somehow those two polishes are not in my IKEA Alex yet!

What am I doing this weekend… working on blog posts for next week. On Monday I am taking a drug test for a new part time job! I left full time employment so that I can spend more time with my blog

  • WOW! What an amazing giveaway! So many interesting products that I’ve never tried. I too am a Deborah Lippmann addict but I don’t have those two shades :-O

From the Leonoryl Greyl I would love to try the Orchidee and Fleur de Jasmine Masques as well as the Mousse Au Lotus Volumatrice. For the Orlane bronzer the lightest shade would be best 😉

For the labour day weekend I will be going to a BBQ on Saturday. The kids should have a lot of fun. Hopefully we will make it to our cottage as well if the rain holds off. I’ll also have to get my 3 year old daughter ready to start school next week. EEK! Of course I am going to be doing my best to try and fit some blogging in there as well. 😉

    Thanks!

  • Unfortunately I don’t have plans, because I have to work … But oh well I need the money! I’d pick Absolution Men’s Face Cream.
Many thanks and for those who have the day off, have tons of fun.

  • Unfortunatley I don’t have any great plans, I will be catching up on writing posts, visiting my local Nordy’s to get the scoop on what’s new in makeup and will try to squeeze a BBQ in. Oh, and my choice is Deborah Lippman! Thanks for the giveaway!

  • Holy, Holy Grail of Draws!
I will be working because I am a real housewife! This is mind blowing and let me say that I consider Michelyn, my fairy godmother of fragrence!
You had me at Tuberose. Can I plead my love to you for Tuberose…it is a weakness for me when done well. And you know I live in the country I have no acess to makeup unless it comes from online. But if you need farm fresh eggs, I got you covered! Also as far as my plead, it is currently time for fertillizing in my area so it smells like poop. I wake up every day to the steamy smell of fertilizer. Ugh. I say all the time that I would nearly rather smell the subway in the summer than the farms!
While I do not currently have any Robert Piguet, in my collection I am familliar with the quality of the products and the authenticity of the scents I would expect Douglas Hannant de Robert Piguet to be no different.
I would take any one of these gloriuous items as I do have frizzy hair and I am so pale that I am almost clear but the Douglas Hannet de Robert Piguet has me smitten.
Labor day, plans I will have my kids and I will take them to the pool weather permitting or we will do our usual dress up, manicures and fake accents with the occasional barbie game thrown in for good measure.
Thanks so much and happy Labor Day to you all at Cafleurebon:) xo

  • What a great draw!

I’m leaving for a great and clean mountain lake tonight and hope to spend a good weekend bbq-ing and making a good use of the boat.

I’d love to win Leonoryl Greyl shampoo, conditioner and Fleur de Jasmin masque.

  • I’d love the Douglas Hannet de Robert Piguet to add to my collection–I could use a “steamy” night, a girl’s gotta have hope!
As for the weekend, a margarita party with friends! I’ll have one for everyone at Cafleurebon! Thanks comme d’hab

  • What an incredibly generous draw! I am torn between the Clarins suncare (I have skin cancer so the pragmatic in me says go for this one) or the Leonoryl Greyl shampoo, conditioner and Fleur de Jasmin mask (at my age EVERY DAY is a bad hair day and I need as much help as I can get 🙂 ) or the Robert Piguet EDP (after all, at heart I am nothing more than a PERFUMANIAC!!).

    THANK YOU, CAFLEUREBON!

  • We are in the middle of moving so I’ll be busy packing, also painting the bathroom. All that good stuff, I f I have time also I’ll be working on my blog. Getting the kids ready for back to school. And for me is Robert Piguet EDP. Thanks, great giveaway. Have a great Labor Day weekend!

  • I am too predictable. Perfume is my only vice. So please include me in the draw for the Robert Piguet Douglas Hannant! As to my Labor Day plans – haven’t decided yet. I may work (cause I don’t get paid if I take the day off); or if I’m feeling rebellious, I’ll be SHOPPING!!!!

  • chayaruchama says:

    I’ll confess:
I sunblock like a demon everyday, but I can never get enough sleep-OR rest;-0
    Talika for me !
    PLEASE !
    Thanks…

  • I think I would most like the Leonor Greyl products. I am having a bad hair life. Seriously!!!

Second choice would be the Lippmann polishes! There is NEVER enough Lippmann to satisfy me. 🙂

My plans for the weekend are to try and get my bloggins ahead, if that’s possible. Having the husband and son home bogs down my computer download speeds to nil, so if I get frustrated, I’ll play with my pretties, but I am going to work on blogging and we might go to the fair to get our yearly button and a pork chop on a stick. Delish!

  • Brigitte I was a former tanorexic sat in the sun went to tanning parlors so Once I turned 35 it’s been faux all the way
Even with a hat on you can get uv rays so I loved this new product sunbrella for those who think a cap or hat is safe
Thank you for sharing your story and all the beauty booty is great
    So good luck
Ida I love the talika it’s truly an instant pick me up
We know you work so hard and don’t get enough sleep so it’s a perfect choice
Truly cafleurebon is blessed by having so many friends to donate such wonderful prizes
Rough call for me but I self tan yr round , use only use Deborah Lippmann products, visa is my fave perfume by Piguet (wore it to my wedding)I love Leonor greyl
One day off from being a perfumista is good for me.

  • Haha, I’m still laughing at the Keith Richards comparison photo!

Well, I’ll be working! Is that a surprise? With my hubs out of town, I can get work done at home. Oh, deadlines. A 3 day weekend just means being super behind on Tues.

You know, I’m going with the Deborah Lippmann. Love her and her polishes so! I can’t use anything else since I started using her stuff. I also thought I hated glitter polishes. But, she has made them “grown-up”.

  • I’m also laughing at the Keith Richards pic!

My hair is crazy curly, frizzy, but I am a perfumissssta (oh, predictable!, so I would love to try Robert Piguet’s Douglas Hannant–I must try every white floral on the green earth, and I like to wear even the difficult ones for fun…anything with jasmine absolute is a guaranteed love..and since I tried the divinely feminine Calypso and came to understand the unapologetic Bandit I need a Piguet in my collection! The first Piguet in 40 years must be very very special!

  • PS I’m working! I will be tired, and missing people’s gatherings, but it is labor day after all–what better way to celebrate than laboring more :P?

  • I’ll be hosting two BBQs over the long weekend.
I would love to try the Leonor Gray Shampoo Miel and Masque Fleur Jasmin (Pardon the spelling mistakes!)

  • What a fabulous giveaway!

BTW, I love Keith Richards’ gnarly face. He was a hottie in his youth. (but then most people are.)

We’re going to a couple of Fests this weekend to listen to music. Hopefully, there will be space to dance. One of my favorite Motown-blues-current cover bands is playing; they played for President Obama.

  • Oh wait, I forgot to specify the brand! (slaps forehead)

Because my hair is looking like Keith Richards’, I opt for the Leonor Greyl’s brand. Another choice would be the Piguet. Tuberose. Yes.

  • Ahhh, being a fan of tuberose, I would clearly steer towards Piquet choice! Thanks and have a great weekend!

  • Labour Day ? What Labour day ?? (LOL) … Yep I’m afraid we folk “over the pond” will be at work as I’m afraid we don’t actual have a “Labour Day” as such. Our somewhat equivalent day off is still waaaay off in May sometime, only next year now. :o(
But I wish you guys all an excellent long weekend !!! ~ Have fun all you not slogging at work !
(I must say though, this reminds me. There’s one thing I’ve always wondered about, (& still have no clue actually) and that’s the whole why “no white after labour day rule” thinggy ??? ~ I need to do me some research ! (*off to wikipedia* LOL )
~ I’d choose me the men’s face cream From Absolution … Or … the Douglas Hannant edp from Piguet. ~ Thank you !

  • Great draw!

I would pick Leonor Greyl’s Shampooing Au Miel, Masque Fleur de Jasmine and Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice.
Hopely these could repair my hair ends 🙂

In Spain we don’t celebrate Labour Day (but we have our Día del Trabajo). So my plans are going to the swimming pool and cleaning my new house.

  • Oohh…we were just discussing how important sunscreen is the other day. I would choose the Leonor Greyl haircare because I can always use some help on my hair (dry).

For Labor Day-I work 7-5. Working in a restaurant, there aren’t many holidays we get to be off and since I am just coming back from vacation, I can’t complain:)

  • What a fun draw! I will be gardening all weekend, putting in a new garden bed of shade perennials. By the time I get done my nails will be a wreck. For some restorative care put me down for the Deborah Lippman nail polishes, please!

  • After spending the summer at the beach in the So Cal sun my hair needs some help..

I would pick Leonor Greyl’s Shampooing Au Miel, Masque Fleur de Jasmine and Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice.

    Thanks JoAnne

  • I’m gardening this weekend, and harvesting exotic flowers for enfleurage and tincuring. I’m also working on the Natural Perfumers Guild’s next project, finishing up written statements and unpacking the perfumer’s submittals and repackaging them in a beautiful presentation for the bloggers. With the high temps and humidity, my hair needs something like Leonor Greyl’s Masque Orchidee.

  • I am so happy i do NOT have to work this weekend, but i will be going to the Minnesota State Fair this Labor Day weekend. The weather will be nice and comfy tomorrow so its the perfect day to go. As far as my choice goes i am definitely also a Deborah Lippmann fan and would love to win the Nail polishes. Nothing like showing off fun toe nails during the summer in an adorable pair of sandals. Great draw and Happy Labor day to all.

  • I do have to work but it will be very quiet. My pick for the draw is either the Douglas Hannant by Piguet or The Deborah Lippmann nail polishes. Either one would add a glamorous flair to my usually low key persona. Thanks for the draw and Happy Labor Day.

  • Although I used to love to sit in the sun, I never indulge these days. I was reminded of that recently when I realized by legs were so pale compared to everyone else. I could certainly use the help of St. Tropez Tanning mouse to give me a little summer glow. Thanks for the great draw!

  • Love the Keith Richards send-up. He’s a favorite; no Dorian Gray portrait for Keef.

I would enjoy the Deborah Lippmann products. I’m just beginning to venture beyond mannequin toe colors.

Weekend: it’s all about the work. I have to go to the office, and my house has turned into a pit. Hope someone out there is having fun . . .

  • Ah yes, work it is. Loaned our car out to our son (Hamptons bound) so no Jersey Shore for us. Our studio tan remains the same!

    Absolution it is or…

  • OK I am changing my entry! Having some serious poofy-frizzy tangly curls I am going for some Leonoryl Grey products! I really believe in my cheap sulfate-free, paraben-free, silicone-free clarifying shampoo as well as vinegar rinses, so if it’s possible to enter for these 3 products it would be a fab day for my hair to get to meet:

Leonoryl Greyl’s Masque Fleur de Jasmin
    Leonoryl Greyl’s Masque Orchidee
    Sunbrella

I go through conditioner like nobody’s business, but if it’s not allowed to make these 3 choices I will ditch the Masque Orchidee for Shampoo Reviviscience. I would get much better use out of 2 conditioners though. My hair is so dry that if I only use conditioner everyday and not oil sometimes it will feel like straw 🙁

  • I think I really need the Talika Eye Contour Gel. I have been working tons of overtime, so much that it cuts into my sleep. This weekend I am partying hard too, well sort of. Street fairs, the Art Deco festival, labor day sale shopping, errands and more.

Also, Leonor Greyl’s Shampoo Reviviscence sounds like it could help my fried hair, especially if I also got the Masque Fleur de Jasmine. Right now it breaks off if I pull on it too much, and I don’t use chemicals!

  • Great draw idea, thanks! I’m spending the weekend as I do every day, taking care of my 15 month old daughter, and hopefully having some fun in the sun, too!

  • Living in Europe there is no Labour Day for me. A simple plain workday, watching how europe disintegrates. 😉

  • The Clarins sunscreen is most appropriate for me due to my Labor Day holiday spent camping in the Oregon desert. The Robert Piguet would also make me a happier camper.

  • I spent most of my weekend doing the final push on my move, but today is my actual holiday since I work Tues-Sat. My body is fairly wrecked so I am going to get it together to go to the market and get snax and just chill. I need to do so much work, but I expect a load of laundry will be about it.

I actually like the sound of that Absolution cream – skin is skin!

  • I spent a lot of time on Labor Day weekend, the last lovely days of my vacation, with the US Open, glass of crisp chardonnay in hand.

Leonoryl Greyl would be my dream win!
