ÇaFleureBon Cyber Monday Perfume Holiday Gift Guide 2015 + Top Ten Fragrances to Give or to Get Draw

Rene Gruau  art

I don’t usually recommend buying  fragrance as a gift because it can be hit or miss. One year, I bought my mom an expensive perfume that she used as room spray, so unless they are easy to please, be careful giving fragrance to folks who don’t really wear scent, or to acquisitive perfume people who most likely have sprung for the MUST HAVE NOW bottle without telling you. Writing and testing all things scented 365 days a year, I chose what is at the top of my list to give or to get. 10 in all…

Best Perfume Gifts That Aren’t’ Perfume

R.I.P.-Room-Spray- fornasetti

Glade and Airwick plugins make me gag.  I love the mix of the macabre and surreal imagery on Fornasetti Profumo’s   ‘R.I.P.’ Room Spray   Piero Fornasetti took the the enigmatic face of Lina Cavalieri and combined it with a skull for a new hypnotic twist on their classic design. Otto, the aromatic scent redolent of incense, orris, cedarwood and Mediterranean herbs is Fornasetti Profumi signature was  composed by Master perfumer Olivier Polge. RT: 3.4 oz /$125 Available at Twisted Lily and fine specialty shops worldwide.

Francis Kurkdjian scented holiday Cards

Three weeks ago I received  a lovely thank you card from one of my favorite Bergdorf Goodman Sales Associates, Govanny Torro. Inside was a Maison Francis Kurkdjian Limited Edition Carte de Vouex/Scented Card  that filled my home with the most beautiful aroma of snow and fir trees. I confess, I have no plans on sending this to anyone. I keep it in my pajama drawer or put it near my desk when I want to feel festive. Master Perfumer Francis Kurkdijian is a magician because the card, still wrapped in plastic  has the projection of a room difuser and continues to waft its incredible scent. Available only on www.franciskurkdjian.com/ 5 cards and envelopes RT 25.00 €

POCKETSPRAYx2

I love shiny objects, so bring on the bling,  especially ones that hold M.Micallef Perfume. A website exclusive, the travel atomizer is refillable and holds 7 ml of your favorite M.Micallef  fragrance (choose from 20, use the drop down menu) Available in rose gold or silver tone.  RT 18  € (no this is not a typo)

nocturne ormond jayne

Creative Director Linda Pilkington of Ormonde Jayne and perfumer Geza Schoen have created three of my favorite perfumes, Tolu, Frangipani and Vanille Orris.  This holiday season  light my fire with the Ormonde Jayne Limited Edition Scented Etoile  Candle  handpoured in the studio, with a high percentage of essential oils. This Black and Gold beauty entices you to stay home for the holiday, preferably with someone you love. So cozy with Oriental/Gourmand notes of mandarin, cardamom, cinnamon, bay, amber and tonka. RT $108.00

michael edwards fragrances of the world

For perfumistas-in-training who don’t know an Aquatic from an Oriental, or the seasoned collector looking for comprehensive reference material, we suggest turning to the man who wrote The Fragrance Bible, Michael Edwards. No database in cyberspace can come close to Mr. Edwards' accuracy and knowledge. The 31st edition of Fragrances of the World features 1600 fragrances and 14 classifications.  More than just a reference book, the category and classifications are helpful in determining what perfumes you may like based on your personal preferences. “Your signature fragrance is Chloé but would like to try something new for day wear? That’s a classical rose floral. You might like La Fille de Berlin by Serge Lutens", Michael advises. So next year choosing a scent for a friend or relative won’t be as difficult. Available on Fragrancesoftheworld.com/ $210 USD

 Now for the Perfume

Rules are meant to be broken, especially when I make them,  so this year our Cyber Monday CaFleureBon Holiday Gift Guide is different than in the past. Our readers love perfume. Since I really DO read all your comments, these are the four perfume sets that I think everyone will want.

puredistance 1, antonia, m, opardu, white black

Creative Director Jan Ewoud Vos of Puredistance founded his niche House in 2002 based on the principles of timeless beauty, elegance, quality over quantity and small is beautiful. His eye for art and collaborations with master perfumers, Annie Buzantian, Roja Dove, and Antoine Lie have given us six perfumes that go the distance;  I, Antonia, M, Opardu , Black and White. The brand is difficult to find in the US –currently at Luckyscent  ( my wish this holiday is that it will find a home  in New York). Did I mention that the team of Jan Ewoud Vos  Marije Tempel, Mary Gooding, Iris Vos, Kalina Kordynska, and Nele Tammiste are some of the nicest people in perfumeland? 2 x 6ml/ $65 Available at www.puredistance.com

parfums mdci discovery set 12 x 8 perfumes

Creative Director Claude Marchal bijoux perfumery in Paris, Parfums MDCI, founded in 2001 is on my bucket list to visit one day. Although we have never met, Claude's core values of bringing beauty to the world, not only in the fragrances he offers, but with the unique resin bust presentation really speaks to my soul.   He is a modern day Medici, supporting the art of fragrance.  His perfumes, created by ‘the who’s who’ of master and young perfumers (Pierre Boudon,  Francis Kurkdjian, Bertrand Duchaufour,   Patricia de Nicolai  Jeanne-Marie Faugier,  Amandine Marie, Richard Ibanez,  Stéphanie Bakhouche  and Cecile Zarokian.  His generosity is amazing, because when you purchase a bottle (either the resin bust flacon or 75 ml) he includes a coffret  of either 12 x 8 ml or 5x 8m at no charge with your purchase.  The gift to give, but the one I  know you will keep it is the 12 x 8ml set.  140 € available at http://parfumsmdci.free.fr/

Nécessaire de Voyage atelier cologne

I haven’t met anyone that hasn’t fallen for at least one Atelier Cologne. We have reviewed every one since the House was founded by Sylvie Ganter Cervasel and Christophe Cervasel in 2010 (the year we were born as well).  The Nécessaire de Voyage includes a refillable 30 ml spray atomizer, a leather case that can be personalized and hand milled soap. Available in Orange Sanguine, Pomelo Paradis, Vetiver Fatal, Rose Anonyme, Jasmin Angelique and Oud Sapphire.  RT $75-$90.  Available at www.ateliercologne.com  and Atelier Cologne Boutiques in  Nolita, Brooklyn, Paris, and Hong Kong

Fragrance is such a particular thing, I always shy away from giving or getting it and my family respects that! Someone who was lavishing unfortunate romantic attention on me, however, and just knew I enjoyed fragrances tried to woo me with some gifts, including a big old honking bottle of Pi by Givenchy, which was an absolute sweet powder-mess on me–a total scrubber. The best scent gift I’ve ever gotten has definitely been an Ormonde Jayne discovery kit–given by my mom as I was just getting introduced to the line.

I would honestly be happy to win any of the gifts! In order of preference:
    1. Twisted Lily E-Certificate
    2. MDCI Discovery kit
    3Puredistance discovery kit
    4. Atelier Cologne gift set
    5. Olfactif sub
    6. Ormonde Jayne Candle
    7. Micallef (Silver Spray, Gaiac)
    8. Michael Edwards’ Book

Again, any of them would be great! Thanks for the draw. I’m in the US.

  • The worst perfume I ever got was Aqua di gioa hated it but the best was from my BFF a vintage bottle of mitsouko.
This is a great list and yes I have s feeling I will be keeping anything should I win

  • The worst scrubber I received as a gift was a bottle of Delices de Cartier. Smells like cherry cough syrup and cheap vodka on me, but was a gift from a bridesmaid and the bottle is pretty so I’ve kept it.
The best scented gift was a bottle of O de Lancôme from my dad when I was in high school. He usually failed miserably at gifting but occasionally got things just right. I think of him whenever I spray it.
    I would love to win:
    The MDCI discovery set
    Olfactif subscription
    Puredistance discovery set
Atelier Cologne set in Jasmin Angelique
    Twisted Lily Gift Certificate
    Michael Edwards book
M Micallef gold travel spray in Ylang

    I’m in the US. Thanks!

  • Thank you so much for this amazing giveaway. The worst scrubber I ever got was Oud 27 from a friend. It felt like a gag/practical joke gift but it was actually serious. I was mortified and disturbed by how fecal and ridiculously skanky this fragrance was. I love weird fragrances. This one was weird and unpleasant. I look at the artistry of fragrances all the time. I didn’t see much art in this.

    My list in order:

    1. Twisted Lily E C
    2. Micallef Note Vanille
    3. Pure Distance
    4. Mdci Disc. Kit
    5. Atelier Rose Anonyme
    6. Olfactif.
    7. Ormande Jayne Candle
    8. Michael Edwards Book.

Thanks again for this. I live in the U.S..

  • My worse ever was Diptyque L’eau de L’eau. One word…….awful. The line redeemed itself with my favorite ever which is Eau Duelle. Fortunately Nordstrom’s has a nice return policy. I have a co-worker who is also perfume obsessed I can pass things along to, but L’eau de L’eau would have ended our friendship. I hadn’t thought of the room freshener idea. Good tip, but no one attempts to buy perfume for me anymore. Since I sample extensively I rarely buy things I don’t love any more. Thanks for the giveaway. I live in the U.S.

    My list in order:
    1. MDCI Discover kit
    2. Twisted Lilly Cert.
    3. Pure Distance Discover kit
    4. Olfactif Subscripton
    5. Atelier in Oud Sapphire
    6. Micallef in Gaiac
    7. Michael Edwards book
    8. Ormande Jayne candle

  • Nowadays I appreciate any fragrance gift. It would have to be pretty horrible to be considered a scrubber. The only example I can think of dates back to the 1970s. My sister gave me a bottle of Pierre Cardin Pour Monsieur and I absolutely hated it. I thought it smelled of soap. I didn’t actually scrub it off and, in fact, I think I went through the whole bottle eventually. I’m afraid to try it now because of this memory but it probably wasn’t so bad. I was an ingrate teen, what can I say??

Very coincidentally, I was researching MDCI’s sample program at the MDCI web site earlier today. so my choice would go to the MDCI Discovery Set. I like the synchronicity, if nothing else!

Thank you, as always, for your generosity with this draw!

    I live in the U.S.

  • There have been perfumes I don’t like and even a few I loathe but the absolute worst is Prada Candy. It made me extremely nauseous – so much so that I have no idea what it smells like. Stupidl,y I tried again the next day. Same result and into the garbage it went,

    My choices would be:
    1. MDCI Discovery Set
    2. Atelier Cologne – Orange Sanguine
    3. M.Micallef travel spray – Gardenia
    4. Ormonde Jayne Etoile Candle
    5. Pure Distance Discovery Set
    6. Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2015
    7. $50 Twisted Lily E Certificate
    8. Subscription to Olfactif.com

    I live in the US.

  • The worst perfume in my life was Cool Water by Davidoff. This smelled horrible on me. I tried to wash it off, but noo…This smell just absorbed deeply in my pores.

    My list in order:
    1.Discovery Set MDCI perfumes
    2.6 month Subscription to Olfactif.com

    2. The Puredistance discovery set
    3. The Nécessaire de Voyage set (Rose Anonyme)

  • Scenta Baby, love it 🙂
When I was a high school senior, my mother, sister and I made our annual pilgrimage to Chicago to shop. We would stay with friends for a weekend, see a show, and worship at the altar of the fabulous Marshall Fields. There I smelled Chanel No. 19, newly released, and fell head over heels in love. I didn’t dare ask for it for Christmas as there were so many other things I wanted, namely that cool round Panasonic transistor radio, but to my shock and delight my normally frugal mother had seen the look on my face after sampling No.19 and bought me a bottle for under the tree, along with the radio. Chanel 19 has been in my collection ever since.

  • The worst scrubber experience I’ve had was with a gift I gave. Let this be a lesson to everyone! I’m not going to name the frag, ’cause I don’t want to insult anyone who loves it:

A really good friend of mine is a “burgeoning perfumista” and I wanted to give her a full bottle of something for her birthday. My friend loves patchouli and she also loves super sweet fragrances. Of course, Angel should have been my first choice, but I wanted to get something unusual, so I asked perfume friend for advice. She told me,”Get _____________!!” You can’t go wrong and she’ll love it!

This was almost half a year ago, but I had a promotion code and went ahead and purchased the bottle online. For nearly six months, I was excited about giving my friend that Perfect Bottle!

A few weeks ago I met my friend for a late Birthday Breakfast. When we were done, I gave her the gift. She opened it, got all excited, and proceeded to spray herself with two big sprays. I could tell from the other side of the booth that the perfume was horrible. I hoped against hope that it was just me and the first impression sillage over coffee and the remains of a big breakfast were just not so good. But I could tell there was something wrong when my normally effusive friend didn’t say anything. But then, she sprayed herself again!

I said, “Let me smell your wrist.” And I did, and it was worse than I could imagine up close. Blech!! If there was vanilla and/or patchouli in that stew of mess, I couldn’t detect it. I could not smell anyone except something one might call “bad perfume molecules” and alcohol. I think I was more disappointed than she was, as I had nearly half a year of thinking I’d found the perfect gift!

I told her to give the bottle back to me and go wash and she did.

Moral(s) of the story: 1. Be vary careful with recommendations! 2. Smell the gifted perfume first! I didn’t! 3. Anything that’s too good to be true (the price of this frag, for instance) is probably either not too good or not true. 4. Get an Olfactif subscription for burgeoning perfumistas!

I’d love (in the order of how much I’d love ’em):

    1. Puredistance discovery set
    2. Parfums MDCI set
    3. Micallef 7ml Ananda Dolce (pushing out of my oud comfort zone here!)
    4. The Twisted Lily gift certificate
    5. The Olfactif 6 month subscription
    6. The Michael Edwards book

    Thanks for the draw!

In the US. And thanks for the fab post with the absolutely and totally true first line!!

  • The worst scrubber perfume that I got as a gift was a fragrance by Bruno Banani. I can’t even remember its’ complete name. They all smell the same: cheap and generic. I wouldn’t even spray my bathroom with it so the garbage bin was the new home for that chemical mistake.

My picks: the Ormond Jayne Candle, the MDCI discovery kit, the Puredistance set, Atelier Cologne’s Vetiver Fatal or the travel spray from M. Micallef (Royal Rose Aoud in Rose Gold).

I am from EU. Many thanks for this draw!

  • Oooh, I love this time of year! Thanks for the great contest! My PPIC (Perfume Partner in Crime) once gave me a bottle of Mitsouko extrait in its adorable vintage box, the best fragrance gift EVER! I save it for special occasions, it’s so precious. I live in the U.S., and if I were lucky enough to win, I’d choose, in order:

    Olfactif 6-month subscription;
    Puredistance discovery set;
    Twisted Lily E-certificate;
    MDCI discovery set;
    M. Micallef travel spray in rose gold filled with Royal Muska;
    Ormonde Jayne candle;
Atelier’s Necessaire de Voyage with Vanille Incensee
    Michael Edwards book.

  • The worst scrubber was a bottle of Arthes Smiley bought with love and good intentions but I couldn’t wait to scrub. I would love to win

    1. Michael Edwards book
    2. MDCI
    3. Ormonde Jayne
    4. Twisted Lily

    I am in the EU

  • Dear MC Scenta,

    Happy Holidays!

I just had my birthday the other day and my sister gave me a bottle of something from Kim Kardashian. Yes, that was pretty bad! I had to run into the bathroom and scrub off the scent, but it was TOO strong! How do you tell your sister that you dislike the gift she got you and WHY SHE DOESN’T KNOW YOU BETTER AFTER ALL THESE YEARS?!

Some advice on gift giving: Please know the person you’re buying perfume for, or maybe buy them a gift certificate.

So for this draw, I would love love love to make up for that and win one of the following:

    1. Discovery Set -12 X 8 ml of Parfums MDCI perfumes

    2. 6 month Subscription to Olfactif.com

    3. M.Micallef refillable travel spray in Gold and filled with Black Ananda

    4. Atelier Cologne The Nécessaire de Voyage Jasmin Angelique

    5. Pure Distance Discovery Set- 6x 2ml of Puredistance I, Antonia, M, Opardu, Black and White

    6. $50 Twisted Lily E Certificate

    7. Ormonde Jayne Limited Edition Etoile Candle

    8. Fragrances of the World book

Thank you for a wonderful draw. I live in the USA!

  • Best gift was a bottle of Bleu de Chanel…….not the best fragrance, but it got me into perfumes and started my journey a couple of months ago. Worst scrubber…….One million…..so damn cloying.

I should be chosen becuase I am extremely new to frags and have a very small bunch of decants and a bottle of BdC…..clearly I need to be exposed to more higher quality fragrances. I also write a blog and have a new youtube channel which I would love to do reviews on anything I win.
Also, everyone wants to smell better and any of these prizes would definitely help me smell better!!!

    1. Discovery Set -12 X 8 ml of Parfums MDCI perfumes, includes Invasion Barbare Promesse de l’aube Rose de Siwa La Belle Hélène Chypre Palatin Le Rivage des Syrtes Vêpres Siciliennes Péché Cardinal Cuir Garamante Cuir Garamante Nuit Andalouse and Cio Cio San

    2. Atelier Cologne The Nécessaire de Voyage – Vetiver Fatal sounds awesome

    3. M.Micallef refillable travel spray – The Silver filled with Aoud….Ive never experienced an oud fragrance.

    4. Pure Distance Discovery Set- 6x 2ml of Puredistance I, Antonia, M, Opardu, Black and White

    5. $50 Twisted Lily E Certificate

    6. Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2015, autographed by Mr.Edwards

Thank you so much for considering me.

  • The worst perfume I received (fortunately just a sample) was also interesting in that it brought back a memory. I sprayed a little bit of Vero Profumo Mito edp and was shocked to find that it smelled exactly like the cage of the cockateil I had as a child, after she would take a bath in her water dish. I smelled damp newspaper, slightly fermented seeds, some greens, and wet feathers and skin. While I appreciated the memory, I had to get it off my arm asap.
I would love any of the gift items on the list and can only justify my worthiness by saying that I am an avid swapper and sharer of perfumes, so nothing will be hoarded (particularly if it’s a discovery set). I would also love the Fragrances of the World book. Spread the perfume love 🙂
Many thanks for the draw! I am in the US.

  • The worst perfume I ever got was Jeux de Peau by Serge Lutens. Not sure what’s wrong with my nose but I don’t get any gourmand notes in this. For me it smells like an uncleaned rodent cage.

    I would like to win:
    1. 6 month Subscription to Olfactif.com
    2. MDCI discovery set
    3. Micallef Watch
    4. 50$ Twisted Lily E certificate
    5. Atelier Cologne Jasmin Angelique
    6. Pure Distance Discovery set
    7. Ormonde Jayne Limited Edition Etoile Candle

Thanks so much for the draw! US resident

  • What fun! The first part is easy – last year I was gifted with a bottle of Egoiste Platinum. It was an excruciatingly sweet gift but YUCK!!!
As far as the gifties go, my preferences would be:

    6 month Subscription to Olfactif.com

    $50 Twisted Lily E Certificate

    MDCI Discovery Set

    Pure Distance Discovery Set

Atelier Cologne The Nécessaire de Voyage in Pomelo Paradis

    I’m in NYC, USA!

  • Dear MC Scenta, how are you?
    I hope you’re very well.
I’ve been a good girl all the time
as far as I can tell.

Throughout the year I sprayed myself
    with iris, woods and moss
and never wore a single perfume
    made by Hugo Boss.

I never won a single draw
yet I don’t want to moan
    if I get Orange Sanguine
    by Atelier Cologne.

Dear MC Scenta, hear my wish
and make it all come true
I read your entries every day
    and live in the EU.

  • Probably the worse fragrant gift I received was when I was a teenager and my boss gave me a bottle of Emeraude. It was way too old for someone my age. Although now I think it was a nice gift, but at the time, oh my!!!

My choices to win (I’m registered in US) are:

    1. Ormonde Jayne Limited Edition Etoile Candle

    2. Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2015, autographed by Mr. Edwards (this is awesome!!!!)

    3. $50 Twisted Lily E Certificate

    4. M.Micallef refillable travel spray in Gold, Gaiac

    5. Discovery Set -12 X 8 ml of Parfums MDCI perfumes, includes Invasion Barbare Promesse de l’aube Rose de Siwa La Belle Hélène Chypre Palatin Le Rivage des Syrtes Vêpres Siciliennes Péché Cardinal Cuir Garamante Cuir Garamante Nuit Andalouse and Cio Cio San

    Thank you so very much!

  • Dear MS Scenta Baby,
Let’s get this one out of the way first so I don’t share TMI… I have been
nicely naughty 😉 That is all.. I’m certain you have ways of substantiating this information, and NO I refuse to give you phone numbers, get them on your own 🙂 It is not so easy to be nice when your are feeling like telling someone exactly where you would like them to go, I think I have played well with all who have tried to get me to waver or deviate from my true character.
I am a US registered reader
    I would love the following….
MMicallef in Silver Akowa or Ananda Dolce
    MDCI Discovery Set
    Pure Distance Discovery set
    Twisted Lily GC
    Michael Edwards Fragrances Book
Ormande Jayne Limited Edition Etoile Candle
Thanks for the opportunity for a wish fulfilled..
Thanks also to the sponsors for their generosity.

  • I think the worse fragrant gift I received was a bottle of boss bottle , I think that gave a terrible headache .. the best was a wonderful birthday gift : eau lente .. of course I wore it that day and I saw people very kind around me (i thought : must be the fragance mood .. hehe)

    My list in order:
    1. MDCI Discover kit
    2. Pure Distance Discover kit
    3. Twisted Lilly Cert.
    4. Olfactif Subscripton
    5. Atelier in Oud Sapphire
    6. Micallef in Gaiac
    7. Michael Edwards book
    8. Ormande Jayne candle

I live in Europe , thanks!

  • I tell most of my friends and family not to buy fragrances for me, because I will probably already have the fragrance haha. My worst one had to be Versace Eau Fraiche. I’m sorry but I hate it very much, although I know there are tons of lovers of it. It just doesn’t work on my skin at all. Gucci Guilty is a VERY close 2nd though. Gosh what were they thinking with that one. The only thing it’s guilty of is being utterly horrible.

Great choices to choose from. I’ll go with in order:

    1. Atelier Cologne (Pomelo Paradis)
    2. Parfums MDCI discovery set
    3. M. Micallef (Royal Vintage in gold)
    4. Ormonde Jayne Etoile Candle
    5. Puredistance discovery set
    6. $50 Twisted Lily certificate

Thank you for the draw and I’m in Canada!

  • Dear MC Scenta,

What I would like most for Christmas this year is the MDCI Discovery Set! Scenta, I live in the most rural part of Missouri there is, and perfume shopping is worse than dreadful, it’s nigh nonexistant. It’s a perfume desert, without even the luxuries of such things as L’air du Desert Marocain, Chergui, or even Dune.

In all honesty, I’m just thankful for Cafleurebon and the great perfumes and artists that you introduce to us throughout the year. And of course don’t deserve to win any more than any of the other wonderful readers who visit.

For Christmas this year I would love anything on the perfume expert’s list! But especially would love to be entered into the following…

    Etoile Candle
    Fragrances of the World 2015
Twisted Lily E Certificate (I would get Nanban, Masque Milano Romanza if they are going to carry it, Apoteker Tepe Peradam because the bottle is amazing, or Mona di Orio Lux)
    Parfums MDCI Discovery Set
    or the subscription to Olfactif

Thank you for the wonderful holiday gift ideas… I’m in the USA.
    Merry Christmas!

  • The worst fragrance i received was Serge Lutens – Serge Noire… It is the only fragrance that i can’t really stand, it is simply awful.
On the other hand the best one i got is Hermes Cuir d’Ange… So smooth and well balanced. One of my favorites!
For this excellent draw my choices are:

Twisted Lily eCertificate (i will buy Arquiste Nanbam)
    MDCI discovery set.

I live in the US. Many thanks.

  • Dear MC Scenta,

My name is Diego and I would be a liar if I said I’m being the best boy in the world, but I’m trying to be as nice as I can.
My mother says I’m naughty boy, but this is not true. It’s that she doesn’t understand my jokes and I know my mother complains that I spend a lot of time on the computer and I always sleep late, but when I read the great reviews on Cafleurebon I always lose the track of time imagining the beautiful scents described and then I always lose my bedtime and I end up waking up late every day. But I promise to improve and read Cafleurebon’s reviews earlier!
Within my few flaws if you think I’m worthy, I would very much like to get a gift in Cafleurebon, and what I most desire is Discovery Set -12 X 8 ml of MDCI Parfums because it’s a perfect perfumes collection with great fragrances crafted by the best perfumers.
Other options that I would love to win are
M.Micallef refillable travel spray gold filled with Avant-Garde
$ 50 Twisted Lily And Certificate
Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2015
Atelier Cologne The Nécessaire of Voyage – Vetiver Fatal
Pure Distance Discovery Set-6x 2ml of Puredistance
    6 month Subscription to Olfactif.com
Ormonde Jayne Limited Edition Etoile Candle

However I know that already have a lot of eyes on these prizes so if you do not find me worthy not because I’ve not been a good boy I’ll understand and try harder next year!

The Nosey Artist and Pam help me!!!
    I’m in the USA.

  • Wall Street by Bond No. 9 is one of my worst scrubs ever. Made me shiver. USA

1 – Parfums MDCI discovery set

  • I don’t get many perfume gifts, and I am not sure that is a blessing or a curse. The one I have received as a gift is lovely: Chanel Cristalle EDT 🙂 I am in the US, and I would love to win any of the following:

Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2015

  • The worst fragrance I received was Drakkar Noir; well made as it is purported to be, it just wasn’t my type of scent, had to scrub it off and fast.

Thanks for the draw, I live in Singapore.
    My Choices are:

I deserve to win but some of my best memories involve perfumes and those memories might not have been so special were it not for the perfume. Perfumes have also been the greatest therapy for me and are the reason my life has remain excited despite several hurdles and setbacks. And perfumes will remain part of my life for as long as I love and my perfumes I collect, I actually collect with the intent to pass them on to future generations. thank you so much for the draw. I am in the US. My choices will be

    Parfums MDCI Discovery Set

    Pure Distance Discovery Set

  • Best and worst are probably the same gift: my very first grown-up perfume, which I fell in love with from scent strips (!!) in magazines but never sampled in person. My mother is very sensitive to chemicals and really doesn’t like most fragrance but for my birthday/Chanukah she got me the gift set with lotion and a big bottle of perfume. It was generous and also meant a lot.

I *loved* it and wore the lotion a lot, and the perfume somewhat, but more than my mom disliking it, I noticed that despite enjoying the fragrance I felt physically ill when I wore it. Headaches and nausea, what I now know are likely migraines. So I ended up not using most of it, and even putting away the bottle because just looking at it or sniffing a teeny bit was enough to make me feel an echo of the bad stuff associated with it. Found it again recently, actually. It held up pretty well!

I’d be happy to win any of the gifts! and to share them as well
    In order of preference:
    1. MDCI Discovery kit
    2. Twisted Lily E-Certificate
    3. Micallef (Gold Spray, Gaiac)

    5. Ormonde Jayne Candle
    6. Atelier Cologne gift set in Oud Saphir
    7. Puredistance discovery kit
    8.Michael Edwards Book

Thanks for the draw. I’m in the US.

  • The best perfume gift I got last year was from my son. He knows my love of perfumes, and he knows I also have many, many bottles and hundreds of samples. Yet he managed to find me a perfume I was unfamiliar with….the Raw Sprit line. He found it online, read the copy and liked their brand, and bought me two bottles. I was very impressed with his thorough research and I loved the perfumes! I would be happy to win any of these prizes, but my top choice would be
    1. MDCI discovery kit
    and then:’
    2. Twisted Lily gift certificate
    3. Atelier in Jasmine Angelique
    4. Pure Distance
    5. Olfactif
    6. Ormande Jayne candle
    7. Michael Edwards book
thanks for being my morning read all year! What would I do without Cafleurebon? And thanks for the draw…Merry Christmas!

  • The best perfume gift I ever got was an Azzaro Pour Homme from my mother. Many years ago. The Azzaro is a legend on its own, therefore no complains about the perfume or anything like that, but being a gift from my mother made it more special. Oh, sweet memories…

As I live in EU, my picks are:

Atelier Cologne’s package (Oud Sapphire), Ormonde Jayne Candle, Puredistance Sample Set, MDCI Discovery Kit and Royal Muska from M.Micallef in Silver sprayer.

    Thanks!

    Hello, Scenta Baby,

I have been a very good girl (by my own low standards) this year. I didn’t make anyone cry. i shared my toys/perfumes. I looked after my cat, Chicken. Years ago I had the chance to visit a small perfume store in Saint Pierre ( a French colony off the coast of Newfoundland). I had a cold and so could not smell anything. I bought a small bottle of something called Lys Tys, and when I recovered my sense of smell realized it was the scent of heaven. Since then, Santa, I have smelt far and wide, and while i have smelt very interesting things I have not smelt anything like that. So in your wisdom, if you saw fit to drop something down my Canadian chimney, could it be :
    1. The OJ candle
    2. the MDCI set
    3. the Michael Edwards book
    $. The M Micallef set
    5. The Atelier set in Jasmin Angelique
    6. The purdisance set
Thank you , Scenta, and have a very Merry Christmas/Happy Holiday. Thanks for a year of great reading!

  • The worst perfume for me is Secretions Magnifiques by ELdO. Got this for birthday. I tried to give it away but no one wants it 🙂

My scrubber is Joop and to top it off I’m allergic to be be of the ingredients so I can’t stop sneezing. I’m in the US. My choices:

    MDCI Discovery Set
    Purediatance Discovery Set
    Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine
    Ormonde Jayne Étoile Candle
    Twisted Lily $50 certificate
    Olfactive gift subscription
    Michael Edwards book

  • Oh, boy, worst and best – lemme think…

The worst scrubber I’ve been gifted I cannot remember the name of, but it was during a trip to New Orleans with a former love (and a current bestest of friends). We went to this shop and smelled tons of different fragrances and kinda agreed on a shortlist of what we liked. She ended up buying a roller of one I had mentioned. It smelled good that brief moment, but upon proper application at home, it just was absolutely strong, loud, and shrieking… that is the best qualifier for it: shrieking.

The best was a redeeming one by the same person mentioned in the above paragraph. She bought me a bottle of Norne by Slumberhouse and everything was well with the world. 🙂

My choices would be preferred as follows:

    – Twisted Lily e-certificate.
    – Olfactif subscription.
    – MDCI discovery set.
    – Atelier Necessaire de Voyage Oud Saphir (venetian blue).
    – M Micallef (Ylang in Silver)
    – Puredistance discovery set.
    – Michael Edwards book.
    – Ormonde Jayne candle.

I am in the US. Thanks for the draw.

  • This is a wonderful time of year indeed! And what an exciting draw!

My worst two scrubbers were one from many years ago, Germain Monteil Royal Secret, and a very recent one – Euphorium Suedois.

As for the best fragrance I ever received as a gift, it is a definite tie between the first one I ever received, Shiseido Zen, and the one I received most recently, Tauer Incense Rosé.

Please include me in the draws for:

    – MDCI Discovery Set
    – Atelier Cologne’s Nécessaire de Voyage, Jasmin Angélique
    – 6 month Subscription to Olfactif.com
    – Twisted Lily e-certificate

    I am in the US.

  • Dear MC Scenta,

This year I got a very nice boy. I obeyed my parents, was approved in the school year, I ate all the vegetables and fruits my mother asked, brushed my teeth every day before going to sleep, I did all my homework, I respected the elders, I didn’t fight with my bothers, I have not told lies, I didn’t mess, I haven’t cursed anyone, and practice reading, I’m loving it, mainly the reviews on Cafleurebon.
My greatest desire this year is to win the autographed book by Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2015. I love reading and mainly related to perfume and wish this book because it is very hard to find this book here in Brazil.
This book by Michael Edwards is my greatest desire however if this is not possible I would love to win one of those here as well:

$ 50 Twisted Lily and Certificate
    M. Micallef travel spray refillable Gold with Gaiac
Set X 8 ml -12 discovery of Parfums MDCI perfumes
Pure Distance Discovery Set-6 x 2 ml of Puredistance
Ormonde Jayne Limited Edition Etoile Candle

I can’t wait for MC Scenta visit Brazil this year. Ermano Picco and Michael Singels please help me get this book please!!! =)

    Thank you very much

  • The worst perfume gift was Light Blue. Yuck, something in there nauseates me. The best perfume gift was a vintage bottle of Caron Pois de Senteur. This smells so nice.
    I would love to win:
    MDCI discovery kit
    Puredistance sampler set
    Atelier Cologne Jasmin Angelique

I’m in EU. Thank you for this generous draw.

  • My worst scrubber is L’eau d’Issey. Something about that persistent melony wateriness just gives me the shiver – and not in a good way.

Thanks for the giveaway. I live in Canada. If I win, I would choose:

    – Parfums MDCI Discovery Set
    – Puredistance Discovery Set
    – Atelier Nécessaire de Voyage Rose Anonyme

  • ****I had to repost as I wasnt logged in under my registered login for this site….Again thank you for this amazing opportunity***

Best gift was a bottle of Bleu de Chanel…….not the best fragrance, but it got me into perfumes and started my journey a couple of months ago.

    5. $50 Twisted Lily E Certificate

    6. Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2015, autographed by Mr.Edwards

Thank you so much for considering me.

  • The worst scrubber I’ve ever had the (dis)pleasure of knowing was a sample of ELDO Secretions Magnifiques. I’m a pretty advanced perfumista but this one was more than I could take! If I could choose from the amazing prizes offered I would choose in no particular order:

    1. Ormonde Jayne candle
    2. Michael Edward’s Fragrances of the World 2015
    3. Atelier Cologne set in Jasmin Angelique
    4. $50 Twisted Lily E-Certificate
    5. Olfactif subscription

I am in the U.S. Thank you for the generous giveaway!

  • The worst scrubber I’ve ever received as a gift was (sorry, fans) Elizabeth Taylor Passion when I was in middle school. My grandma knew I loved the purple and I think the purchase might have been solely based on the color of the bottle. Maybe I’d appreciate it more now than I did at age 10 or 11. If the lucky dice roll my number, my choices would be:

    1. Ormonde Jayne Limited Edition Etoile Candle
    2. $50 Twisted Lily E Certificate
    3. Parfums MDCI Discovery Set

Thanks and happy holidays! I’m in the US.

  • The best fragrance Chanel Allure Homme gift was Edition Blanche. My mom gave me this on my birthday And Then started my passion for perfume and not stopped anymore.
The worst fragrance gift was Azzaro Chrome Legend Which was given Beheerder by my aunt when i already collected scent. I hated this scent from the first spray, I do not know but it reminds me rotten orange. I really feel revulsion When I smell it. I could not tell to her that I did not liked it but after while I gave it for a friend of mine.

    Dear MC Scenta,

I can’t answer your question because I’ve never received a scrubber for a present – in fact, I’ve never been gifted a perfume for Christmas at all! So instead, I wrote a little song that gives you an idea of what Christmas at my house usually looks like. It’s called ‘How CaFleureBon Saved The Twelve Days of Christmas’ (the ending is imaginary…for now!):

On the first day of Christmas, I asked for some perfume, but all I got’s a pair of snowshoes!

On the second day of Christmas, I asked for some perfume; Nope, two kitchen towels and, once again, that pair of snowshoes.

On the third day of Christmas, I asked for some perfume; Ha! Three pairs of socks, two kitchen towels, and -yep – again that pair of snowshoes!

On the fourth day of Christmas, I asked for some perfume; But, four winter scarves, three pairs of socks, two kitchen towels and, once again that pair of snowshoes!

On the fifth day of Christmas, I asked for some perfume; No! Five wooly hats, four winter scarves, three pairs of socks, two kitchen towels, and still the stupid pair of snowshoes!

On the sixth day of Christmas, I asked for some perfume; Nope, six pans for cooking, five wooly hats, four winter scarves, three pairs of socks, two kitchen towels and, again, that blasted pair of snowshoes!

On the seventh day of Christmas, I asked for some perfume; But seven pairs of earrings, six pans for cooking, five wooly hats, four winter scarves, three pairs of socks, two kitchen towels and, still, that ruddy pair of snowshoes!

On the eighth day of Christmas, I asked for some perfume; Ha! Eight pairs of undies(!), seven pairs of earrings, six pans for cooking, five wooly hats, four winter scarves, three pairs of socks, two kitchen towels and, again, that awful pair of snowshoes!

On the ninth day of Christmas, I asked for some perfume; No! Nine brooms for sweeping, eight pairs of undies(!), seven pairs of earrings, six pans for cooking, five wooly hats, four winter scarves, three pairs of socks, two kitchen towels and, again, that pair of dreadful snowshoes!

On the tenth day of Christmas, I asked for some perfume; Nope! Ten books for reading, nine brooms for sweeping, eight pairs of undies(!), seven pairs of earrings, six pans for cooking, five wooly hats, four winter scarves, three pairs of socks, two kitchen towels and, once more, that blasted pair of snowshoes!

On the eleventh day of Christmas, I asked for some perfume; No! Eleven pens for writing, ten books for reading, nine brooms for sweeping, eight pairs of undies(!), seven pairs of earrings, six pans for cooking, five wooly hats, four winter scarves, three pairs of socks, two kitchen towels and, again, that awful pair of snowshoes!

On the twelfth day of Christmas, I asked for some perfume….and the wonderful people at CaFleureBon sent some to me!!!!!

Just in case the last part comes true, here’s what I’d love to win 🙂

  • I am not a poet nor can I write particularly well. But this is from my heart. Last year my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and I saw her today and she didn't know my name at first but she recognized my perfume. Chanel 19. She broke out into a smile and said CHANEL!!! that is how powerful scent is . She said bring more. If I should win any of these gifts (not the candle only because they wont let patients burn them) I will create memories for her to replace the ones she's lost. I am grateful for each day I have with her. My mother had a rose garden so beautiful, I think the Necessaire trio from Atelier in Rose Anonyme would be the one I would ask for , not for me, but for my mother. Or perhaps the best would be a TW GC that I can buy her a perfume we can share as 'our scent'

  • Sorry for the double entry but I live in the USA. Thank you CaFleurBon for bringing brightness into my life each day with all your articles and wonderful reviews. Merry Christmas
    Love Amy

  • The only perfume I’ve received as a gift in many years was bought by my gorgeous other half who knew that I liked perfume but didn’t know me well enough to know what my preferences were. He bought me Poême. We gave it to his sister. Since then we’ve been perfume shopping together. And it has been beautiful to share going to niche places with him. Absolutely our favourite perfume memories are going to CB I Hate Perfume in Brooklyn as a family. I dragged them all along kicking and screaming (not *another* perfume shop Mum) and then just sniffing and sniffing, handing each other vials and saying smell this! It was sooooo much fun. This experience is easily my favourite perfume gift.

I would love any of the following.
    1. Parfums MDCI perfumes Discovery Set
    2. Pure Distance Discovery Set
    3. $50 Twisted Lily E Certificate
    4. M.Micallef refillable travel spray – Gaiac in silver
    5. Ormonde Jayne Limited Edition Etoile Candle
    6. Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2015

I’m in Australia, one of the first places in the world Santa visits each year! Thanks as always for your generous gifts Dear McScenta et al.

  • Dear Mc Scenta,
Well I can’t really say I’ve been all that good but your nice book knows I’ve tried. There is as explanation for my bad behavior and Cafleurbon, with its amazing team, has created my naughtiness. It all started in February 2015 when Steve Johnson did a story on Brooklyn Euphorium Cilice. I thought wow what a fragrance but can I really afford it? Weighed the money odds and bammm, was transported to Twisted Lily with a click of a button and I owned Cilice. The remainder of the month I lived off of Roman Noodles (stir fried, casseroled, etc.). Thanks Elves for the 101 Roman Noodle recipes book you got me last year. Who knew I could use all those extra packets of Taco Bell sauce in a Roman Noodles recipe. I also kept the heater at about 55 degrees and I just wore my scratchy (like S.O.S. pads), brightly stripped wool sweaters that Grandma so kindly bought me for church. I had been keeping them in the back of the closet to donate (for about 5 years). Then come April 2015 and a few mojitos later, Susie Baird introduced me to Monsillage. Next thing I know I’m logging back into Twisted Lily. Click, click, click, done. What a nice surprise when I got home from AA meeting and had received Eau Fraiche because I completely forgot ordering? This time, spending my last dime and running out of Dawn dish liquid to wash clothes, I resorted to making fresh underwear out of Brawny paper towels and safety pins. That old baking soda in the back of the fridge worked perfectly for brushing my teeth. Thanks Pinterest for the great tips. Breezing through the hot summer quite nicely, I was getting my suntan on (baby oil and iodine) and read about the upcoming Le Labo City Exclusives event Michelyn Camen so wonderfully made us aware of in August 2015. OMG Mc Scenta, I had no control! Come September, Cha-Ching! I sold all of my dress shoes, boots and tennis shoes on EBay. My 1 pair of Crocks will go with anything. I pawned my silverware, pots and pans. I did keep one pan with all the Teflon chipped off and found some chopsticks I never learned to use. I also used my neighbor’s extra Hoveround to and from work, saving on gas. I even used pigeons to send text messages to all my friends since I couldn’t afford my ATT plan. I was sad when I never got any texts back, then I read pigeons eat certain food in order to survive. Oops, I guess pigeons don’t eat Spam. Now we have come to the time of the year with all these amazing fragrance deals and new fragrances your knowledgeable writers keep reviewing. I am really trying to be good and refrain from all the pressure, putting my other personalities first. I don’t want to resort to making eggnog out of powdered milk, cinnamon potpourri and mad dog 20/20 again. I’ve been told air freshener trees hanging around my neck are not a fashion accessory and Stick-Ups are bulky under your armpits. So Mc Scenta, as you can read, I have greatly sacrificed in order to support the fragrance community and feel I deserve a bit of Christmas cheer. Please give me the gift of fragrance for Christmas one last time this year. I promise to be good, further support the fragrance community and cheer on Cafleurbon for many years to come. Shout out to…Snow Meiser and Heat Meiser brothers!

    In the USA.
Would love the: $50. Twisted Lily E Certificate, Discovery Set Parfums MDCI, Pure Distance Discovery Set, Atelier Vetiver Fatal, 6 Month Subscription Olfactif, Michael Edwards 2015 book, or M. Micallef Silver Travel Spray with Royal Vintage.

Thanks a million for all Cafleurbon does for the fragrance community. You all are truly a gift.

  • The Worst Scrubber Ever for me was Atelier Cologne Gold Leather. There was something about the plum plus leather that made me want to run far, far away. This was a big surprise because Orange Sanguine was an instant and heart-stopping love at first sniff. The Atelier Cologne sample set is one of the best sets I’ve experienced. Even though I did not like some of the Atelier scents, I enjoyed trying them all. I learned something new from each one.

I am grateful for the CaFleureBon fragrance community that shares such vast knowledge, expertise, industry insider information, and perfumed excitement! It seems a true labor of love for dear MC Santa and all the contributors at CaFleureBon. I learn something new each time I visit here. I feel very lucky to have found the online fragrance world. I am grateful for the new friends I have made and for the scents we have swapped, split, and shared, all for the love of fragrance.

Our world is richer for the connections we make through scent. When I try a new fragrance I sometimes smile to myself and think of Jean Cocteau’s words:

“The smell of opium is the least stupid smell in the world.”

While Mr. Cocteau’s opium is not necessarily our Opium, many fragrances have given me that same sense of pleasant disequilibrium, even drunkenness, and sometimes euphoria. There is so much to be found in the fragrant world: desire and dislike, attraction and repulsion, and the thoroughly-stupidly-in-love-feeling of finding The One scent in the world that feels perfectly made. I have not yet found The One for me, but I send a million thank yous to CaFleureBon for helping me in my search.

I am in the US and would be very pleased to win anything at all during this holiday season and especially:

-Parfums MDCI Discovery Set (I love discovery sets)
-Atelier Cologne Nécessaire de Voyage (I love Orange Sanguine)
-6 month Subscription to Olfactif.com (I love surprises)
-Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2015 (I love Mr. Edwards genius fragrance wheel)

Happy holidays to everyone. I hope your days will be filled with moments of joy and delicious fragrance.

  • Dear MC Scenta,

What a dynamite draw! You know, I’ve never actually gotten a perfume as a gift. Sad, I know! Maybe it’s because I live in overly polite Canada and everyone is too afraid of offending with their poorly-chosen olfactory gift? The only person that gives me perfume is… well, me. Good thing I’m extra generous to make up for it.

I’m usually pretty good about leaving on fragrances that I don’t particularly like, just so I can experience the whole thing at least once. There was one notable exception though. When I first got into perfume, I blind-bought (mistake #1) a dirt cheap bottle of L.T. Piver’s Heliotrope Blanc. The old fashionedy bottle was somehow so enchanting, as was the promise that it was a formula from 1850. How bad could it be? After all, it was an old-school floral eau de toilette. I put it at work (mistake #2) and shrivelled my nose in disgust at the melting plastic smell rising from my wrist. MC Scenta, you would not even believe how frantically I scrubbed, to no avail. Alas, the overwhelmingly synthetic plastic, with doll’s head accent stuck with me all afternoon. I resorted to wearing my coat for the rest of the day. Lesson learned: heliotrope is not my note. Blind-buying are trying perfumes at lunch are lessons that I still haven’t learned, but I kind of hope I never do. What else am I going to do downtown for an hour in the middle of the day?

I live in Canada and would love any of the worldwide prizes. In order of preference (does that even matter?):

    1. Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2015, autographed by Mr. Edwards

    2. Discovery Set -12 X 8 ml of Parfums MDCI perfumes

    3. $50 Twisted Lily E Certificate

    4. Pure Distance Discovery Set- 6x 2ml

    5. Ormonde Jayne Limited Edition Etoile Candle

    6. Atelier Cologne The Nécessaire de Voyage: Orange Sanguine

    7. M. Micallef refillable travel spray: rose toned and Avant-Garde scent

    Thank you!

  • Awesome draw! My worst fragrance gift was this woody one. I don’t remember the name but it didn’t smell anything like woods. More like a dead body unfortunately. It might make a good scent if you’re trying to be a zombie for Halloween haha.

    3. M. Micallef Royal Vintage silver
