CaFleureBon Cyber Monday Holiday Gift Guide 2013 + 12 Days of Christmas Perfumed Prizes

Scentabulous gift guide cafleurebon

The gift-giving holiday season is rushing upon us like a freight train. Hannukah and US Thanksgiving were neck-and-neck, and since Thanksgiving was so late this year, we will have less than a month until Christmas. Yes, we blog about perfume 365 days a year, but buying fragrance for another person can be tricky. We suggest other scented, luxurious indulgences for your gift-giving; a look beyond the bottle, only a click away. No one should have to wander aimlessly in a crowded mall besieged by agressive SAs and bargain hunters. Our 2013 Scentabulous gift guide has a great selection of scented goodies from Niche, Indie perfume and beauty brands that are sure to please even the pickiest person on your naughty-or-nice list.

Holiday Grooming: Leonore Greyl and Billy Jealousy

The holiday season with its endless parties squeezed in between family gatherings is not a time for a bad hair day. Unless you travel with a stylist 24/7, chances are you are going to have hat head, bed head, and/or static head. That's why the luxe haircare line from Leonore Greyl Paris is, well, the Holy Grail. French women have been using this botanical line, long before "no-poo" and going green were the trend. We love the Soin Naturel du Cheveu Masque Quintessence, a hair conditioning masque that will revive even the most depressed locks, and the Shampooing Reviviscence for dehydrated and brittle hair will gently clean your tresses and add luster to your curls. A bit of Huile Secret de Beauté natural oil for hair and body added to the hair will add a bit of shine and softness, and a sweet, subtle aroma. Damaged hair will disappear as fast as a plate of hors d'oeuvres at a party, and these appeal to our noses, too, with soft, soothing notes of Seringa (mock orange) and quince. The Holiday Gold Collection with 7 oz jar of masque, 7 oz shampoo, and .84 oz oil, $169 at Leonore Greyl ($227 value), while supplies last.

Shaving has become a high art of grooming in recent years, especially with the celebrity trend for on again off again beards. Now that Movember is over, those scruffy beards will need tending to. We found a kit of shaving essentials from Billy Jealousy, the Shave3Some, that includes a Hot Towel pre-shave treatment, Hydroplane Super-slick shave cream, and Shaved Ice after-shave balm. Travel-friendly, with 3-oz. containers of each in a clear zippered bag, this is an essential gift for all the fellas on your list. Of course we had to try them on our legs; manly, yes, but we love them, too. The pre-shave gets hot like magic, the non-foaming, delicately scented shave cream made our skin super-slippery, and the surprisingly non-mentholated, citrusy balm soothed our skin delightfully. $40 for the set at Billy Jealousy.

gift guide oj agraria cfb

Soap Operas: Ormonde Jayne and Agraria

There are bath people and shower folks. You can be reasonably certain that everyone on your gift list takes a bath or a shower. Michelyn enjoys both. She stocks up on Ormonde Woman Hydrating Bath/Shower Creme, a paraben free formulation with no mineral oils or artifical coloring. The mysterious scent is unlike any other, evoking a primeval forest in the land of the Fae. If Mab the Winter Queen gives holiday gifts, we think everyone in her Winter Court would want this. 150ml /$42 at Ormonde Jayne London.

Sometimes we are just stuck for a little prezzie that is practical but still festive and lovely to look at. The Nob Hill luxury bath bar collection from Agraria appealed to Tama’s San Francisco roots, and they smell great, too. Give the set of Bitter Orange, Lemon Verbena, Balsam, a Lavender & Rosemary soaps, or break it up for individual stocking stuffers. They are made with olive oil, vitamin E, shea butter, yucca oil, kukui oil, and sea fennel and are non drying. An added bonus is that they are so beautifully packaged you can be lazy about wrapping.  Michelyn loves the Bitter Orange bar, and refuses to remove the packaging; it's that pretty and the subtle scent of orange, cloves and cypress wafts through the bathroom. Set of four 8.2 oz. bath bars, $60 at Agraria.

gift guide perseph in fiore

A Very Indie Christmas: Persephenie and In Fiore

Do you have an overworked, overstressed, crankypants on your gift list? Are holidays with the family more trauma and drama than dinner with the Royal Tenenbaums?  Give them (or yourself) Persephenie Smelling Salts, one for Mental Clarity and one for Calm Balance. Sea salts infused with naturally aromatherapeutic essences are housed in handy little brown apothecary bottles. A few whiffs and even the Lohans would be zen.  We also love Rose and Frankincense Heart Opening Candies, as pretty to look at as they are wonderful to eat. Pop a piece in your mouth and  as it dissolves, savor the exotic, sweet flavor that reminds us of Turkish Delight. Delicious. Smelling Salts $29 for the set of 1 oz bottles; Rose & Frankincense candies $14 for ½ oz tin at Persephenie.

Winter, with its frigid air and artificial heat dries our skin. Sometimes we need more than just regular lotion to keep our skin from looking like a dry river bed in Africa, which is why we love In Fiore Body Balm in the Vetivert scent by San Francisco skincare savant Julie Elliot. This benevolent balm made of hydrating natural oils and essences spreads on easily, instantly relieving the itch of thirsty skin, and the slightly green, earthy fragrance will complement any winter perfume (by the way, boys use balms too). We slather it on our elbows, knees, and the backs of our beleaguered hands, and anywhere we want softer, nourished skin. This is a gift that can easily go into the “and one for me” category, so get two. In Fiore Vetivert Body Balm $85 for 240 ml jar available on both coasts at Beautyhabit and  Twisted Lily.

gift guide palais dickens marie todd

Home for the Holidays: Palais des Thés, Jardins D'Ecrivains, Marie Todd

There is something about perfumistas…most seem to enjoy exotic teas and scented homes. Imagine our delight to discover that the esteemed tea company Le Palais des Thés makes matching teas and coordinating candles! Our choice for a wonderful gift duo is Thé du Hammam. Green tea and flower petals are flavored with scents from the Hammam: roses, dates, berries and orange flower water. The flavor is slightly floral, with a warm, nutty undertone, and delicious on a chilly morning. Burning the candle while you are enjoying a cup of tea feels wonderfully decadent, and the fragrance is terrific. 4.4 oz tea in decorative tin, $23; 6.88 oz candle in glass container $45 at Palais des Thés.

When Michelyn burns something its usually dinner, so she rarely lights candles. She discovered Jardins D'Ecrivains, a line of niche candles and fragrances by happenstance. Stashed in her editorial closet were over a dozen lovely smelling candles and during Hurricane Sandy she grabbed her flashlight and began to light them one by one so that she could read during the long nights without power. While most of the candles smelled gorgeous only the Jardins D'Ecrivains 100 percent soy candle illuminated the room and just like the Miracle of Hanukkah, it lasted eight nights of no electricity. For the literature lover and perfumista on your list, we recommend Jardins D'Ecrivains Dickens, a limited edition for Holiday 2013 with notes of fir, oud, mandarin  and spices.  Its a little pricy, but don't be a Scrooge, it  will waft for ages, from  Christmas Present to Christmas Future. 2-wick, 500 gram candle in a lidded container, $95 at Beautyhabit and Twisted Lily.

The readers of CaFleureBon span at least 25 time zones. While it may be 10 AM in the Netherlands it is 4 AM in New York and 1 AM in San Francisco, which means we don't get a lot of shut eye as comments and content are always updated. When the bags under our eyes look like luggage we turn off our smart phones and try to sleep. Jewelry designer Marie Todd (you may remember her as Lisa Marie Todd, A Fly Girl on the show In Living Color) has a home fragrance line with aromatheraputic diffusers. We chose Rest, a delightful blend of soothing lavender and calming vanilla wafts through the air like a lullaby. Give this to your favorite insomniac.7 oz diffuser with reeds in glass bottle, $60 at Marie Todd.

It's All About the Perfume: Michael Edwards and Original Scent

For perfumistas-in-training who don’t know an Aquatic from an Oriental, or the seasoned collector looking for comprehensive reference material, we suggest turning to the man who wrote The Fragrance Bible, Michael Edwards. No database in cyberspace can come close to Mr. Edwards' accuracy and knowledge. The 2013 edition of Fragrances of the World has 260 pages filled with thousands of entries, by Fragrance category and Fragrance House including vintage treasures to current releases. This year featured lavish photography by photographer Gary Heery in collaboration with Saskia Havekes of Grandiflora Sydney. It’s a coffee-table book that is both useful and pretty. Priced at $195 and up depending on recipient location, at Fragrances of the World.

We decided to include one perfume present.  We all know a perfumista or two thousand who want to create their own special fragrance. Original Scent’s Holiday Scent Canvas is a collection of perfumes meant to be layered.  To celebrate the holiday season, these limited edition perfumes have been created with all those wonderful winter notes we love, in lightweight, long-lasting formulas that are not going to bother the perfume hating co worker in the next cubicle. Inspire has sweet orange with hints of cinnamon and clove; Sacred is frankincense, myrrh and pine for a meditative aroma; Sensual has cozy, rich amber and vanilla; and Radiant is a sheer musk with hints of tobacco and leather. Michelyn wears one part Radiant to 3 parts Sensual, or emulate Tama who wears them all at once. Limited Edition of .25 oz bottles of four fragrances in a lovely case, $109, at Original Scent while supplies last.

gift guide beautyhabit

$100 Beautyhabit E Certificate

Anyone who has met Michelyn probably has guessed she has a beauty habit, ok addiction. At last count, she has 85 lipsticks, which is almost double her entire perfume collection. Her makeup and skin always looks flawless  (she watches hours of Kim Kardashian smoky eye tutorials and is a beauty editor as well as a perfume blogger). The first website she bought potions and lotions from is www.beautyhabit.com and it was one of In Fiore's face oils. Teresa Mitchell and sister Paula Vasquez have one of the best e-stores in the world for skincare, make-up, home fragrance, natural and organic products and perfume. Most of their offerings are artisanal and hard to find and in their 17 years of business,  Teresa and Paula  are always one step ahead of what is new and unique. So how would WE spend our $100? Michelyn would buy Tama Paul and Joe's Limited Edition Eye and Cheek Color Set in Gingerbread, $65  (so she can gussy up for her kitty Buster). Her 20 something year old nieces have outgrown chapsticks and would love the retro looking Figs and Rouge all natural lip balms  Rose Berry Lip Butter  ($9) and Vanilla Pistachio Lip Butter  ($9) and with a few dollars left she'd buy Twistband Hair Ties  ($1.50 each) in coco, steel and blueberry for herself. Tama would buy Michelyn Objects of Desire Cotton Makeup bag ($22) to stash her beauty stuff, Rouge Bunny Rouge's Makeup Melt Cleanser  ($48) which wipes away even waterproof make up and is enriched with chamomile, lavender, clove and eucalyptus oil and some Kai Hand Cream for her sister ($19 for 2 oz). The leftover goes toward a bottle of Parfum D'Empire Osmanthus Interdite for herself (hint hint).

  • Dear Santa and Santas helpers Michelyn and Tama!

Let me start by saying those are some beautiful gift ideas mentioned here. I am writing to you today because I feel that everybody deserves a little something under the tree. I don’t feel that I necessarily deserve my top choice, but i feel that it would be nice if I would be considered for a gift. And by golly Santa you sure have some lovely helpers in Tama and Michelyn 😉 And even if I am not considered to win a present I want to with everybody a safe and happy holiday season, hug those close to you and be kind to each other. BTW the biggest scrubber I have ever found in my stocking was Serge Lutens Muscs Koublai Khan…..straight up used sweaty jock strap…yikes. Happy Holidays My top choices are Jardins D’Ecrevains Dickens scented candle , $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate, Le Palais des Thés: Hamman tea tin (4.4 oz) and Hammam scented candle (6.88 oz) , Original Scent Holiday Scent Canvas set (four .25 oz bottles with case)

  • No offense to anyone that enjoys the “scrubber” I am about to describe. All fragrance is wonderful; some work with my chemistry and some don’t.

Montana Just Me has some great notes, none of which worked for me in this combination. Upon dry down, a vivid picture played in mind. I go into my grandma’s musty, old attic following the scent of a nice leather jacket only to find Joe from the Facts of Life mummified in a steamer trunk. This is a weird one and may have been amplified due to old perfume sample. Positive side, it has longevity and power to it!

Thank you for this eye-popping giveaway! I am in the US and there isn’t a prize on this list I wouldn’t enthusiastically accept. Count me in!

  • What wonderful, amazing gift ideas! The only one that I wouldn’t be overjoyed to receive would be the Billy Jealousy set. I’m single, and it seems like a waste for my legs…. Although I would! But any of the others would be one of my best presents ever!

I am sure that I have received some awful scrubbers over the years, my taste in scent has become more refined – although since I have always loved perfume, some of those Avon ones were pretty bad! But to be fair, the one that stands out in my head – I was – 10? maybe, and lusted after the adorable white French Poodle bottle much more than the juice inside!

Thank you so much for this fabulous draw, what amazing gifts!

  • What a fantastic list of lemmings…I mean, suggestions. I am usually in charge of filling the stockings for my family at Christmas. This year they will get nailpolish, Sara Happ lip scrub, Chimes ginger chews, Vosges chocolate, Marvis toothpaste, Aftelier Essence sprays, and some gift cards. I now fill my own after I got 100 scratch off lotto tickets (not a single winner) and a bottle of Clean Provence cologne that smells like cement.
If I were lucky enough to win, my top choices would be Jardins D’Ecrevains Dickens scented candle , $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate, Le Palais des Thés package, and the Original Scent Holiday Scent Canvas set (four .25 oz bottles with case. Thank you for playing Santa all year-round!

  • Elizabeth T. says:

The worst scrubber was an old Avon in a glass bottle, I think it must have gone off. And it didn’t scrub off, either. Thanks for the draw, I’m in the USA and would be happy with any of the gifts!

  • It sounds great on paper, but there’s a note in Le Baiser Du Dragon (amaretto?) that had me skulking off to scrub it off and hide the bottle in the closet. I’m in the US and would love to receive any of these products or prizes. Thank you Scenta!

  • Dear Michelyn and Tama,

I loved reading this handy gift guide, I just love how you guys included some cheapies in there too! Michelyn, you have more lipsticks than me and I’m a make up artist!! Wow, I’d love to see all the colours you have 🙂

I will start by telling you the worst scrubber that has won a title award from me this year, it goes to Poudre Maison des Reves. I mean looking at the notes I should have loved it but unfortunately it turned out smelling horrid on my skin!

Because I’m sucking up to win, I am going to also write you guys a Dear Scenta letter 🙂

    Dear Scenta,

I am going to do the most sucking up on here I think! Not sure how creative my next few lines are but hey, I’m desperate LOL I REALLY REALLY REALLY and TRULY would absolutely LOVE if I won the Beautyhabit E Certificate!! Please please please with a cherry on top! That would totally make up for the crappy year i’ve had 🙂 It would be the most AWESOMEST (not sure if that’s even a word lol) thing ever! You can also count me in on the Ormond Jane Woman Hydrating Bath/Shower Cream and the Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2013 book!! I live in Australia so I can only apply to the International prizes, which I am totally thankful for btw!

My year has totally sucked mainly because my darling Wasabi (long haired black Brittish cat) was run over by a car not too long ago and I have been missing him terribly 🙁
That cat would understand every word I said, he was my best friend. The worst part was that I had to bury him myself. It would just be nice to have something nice happen for me before the year ends 🙂 XX

  • My worst scrubber was Truth or Dare. It made me nausaus.

I in Canada and would live to win Ormonde Jayne Ormonde Woman Hydrating Bath/Shower Cream (150 ml) and $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate

  • Dear Scenta and Scenta’s lovely helpers Tama and Michelyn,

Your sleigh is filled with so many lovely things that your insightful perfumista helpers have picked out this year, and I’m setting out some extra homemade cookies and milk for you if you decide to fly down the chimney (er, rather, stop off at my apartment 2nd floor balcony!) and leave some goodies under my tiny, tiny Christmas tree. It’s been a rough and sad year for me, and my Christmas spirit is flagging, and my heart and skin are in desperate need of pampering. Especially my dry hands, as I have been canning salsa and jams for gifts to friends and family – all that chopping, washing and boiling hot water has worn down my poor hands but it has helped me keep mentally and physically busy. I’m not a very picky girl, and I would be the happiest perfumista to get any of the following that’s in your big red bag:

Ormonde Jayne Ormonde Woman Hydrating Bath/Shower Cream

    $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate

Leonore Greyl Holiday Gold Collection: full-size Soin Naturel du Cheveu Masque Quintessence and Shampooing Reviviscence and travel size Huile Secret de Beauté

Agraria Nob Hill Bath Bar set: Lemon Verbean, Balsam, Bitter Orange and Lavender & Rosemary

Persephenie Smelling Salts in Mental Clarity and Calm Balance and Rose & Frankincense Heart Opening Candies

In Fiore Body Balm in the Vetivert scent

Le Palais des Thés: Hamman tea tinand Hammam scented candle

    Jardins D’Ecrevains Dickens scented candle

Marie Todd Reed Diffuser in Rest

Original Scent Holiday Scent Canvas set

Thank you Scenta and helpers! Thank you for fantastic contests this year, fabulous review writing, for tiring yourselves out on this my most favorite perfume blog. May sugarplums dance in your dreams this Christmas and have a wonderful New Year in 2014. Peace be with you! 🙂

    Dear Scenta Claus,
I’ve been so good this year. I fell in love with perfume, and since then I have been studying so hard! I read lots of blogs like this one, and books about fragrance chemistry, and now I’ve changed the high school chemistry class that I teach so that it focuses on fragrant materials and perfumes. I want to understand everything there is to know, so I can enjoy fragrances with that much more insight, and so I can use my knowledge to teach an even more interesting chemistry class. Oh, Scenta, won’t you please help me in my studies by granting me Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2013, autographed by Mr. Edwards?
    Very Nicely, Never Naughty,

ps- I’d be very happy to win any of the prizes! My preferences:
Ormonde Jayne Ormonde Woman Hydrating Bath/Shower Cream
    $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate
Agraria Nob Hill Bath Bar set:
Persephenie Smelling Salts and Heart Opening Candies
In Fiore Body Balm in the Vetivert scent
Le Palais des Thés: Hamman tea tin and scented candle
    Jardins D’Ecrivains Dickens scented candle

    I am in the US.

  • Too bad I am not that creative with my writing. Otherwise I would wow you with something amazing! But sadly, I can only talk scrubbers.

This is totally chemistry, but one year I got Chanel no 5. Not for me. Scrubbed for ages. I am lucky that most scents do work.

Great draw! Thanks for always having so many. USA.

  • I am sad to write this, but one year I got Chanel Cristalle EDT. It was a perfume I had asked for, but the first day I wore it I also caught a nasty stomach bug 🙁 Now I am holding onto the bottle until my memory of that episode fades…until then even a whiff of the perfume makes me a little bit nauseous. I have hope that one day I will be able to appreciate it again!

I am in the USA, and I would love to win any of the following, thanks:

Ormonde Jayne Ormonde Woman Hydrating Bath/Shower Cream
Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2013
    $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate
    Leonore Greyl Holiday Gold Collection
Agraria Nob Hill Bath Bar set: Lemon Verbean, Balsam, Bitter Orange and Lavender & Rosemary

In Fiore Body Balm in the Vetivert scent
Le Palais des Thés: Hamman tea tin (4.4 oz) and Hammam scented candle
    Jardins D’Ecrevains Dickens scented candle
Original Scent Holiday Scent Canvas set

  • Dearest Scenta Claus & Loyal Elf 😉 😉
I have tried to behave as best as I can this year, sometimes I just want to have fun. Loved this article. Loved learning I am not the only one that burns dinner 🙂 Thank goodness for do-overs and take out.. I really have not received any scrubbers ever.. reason being I make a list for those that insist on buying fragrance for me.. Makes everyone happy. I will tell you that my DH was so awesome one year that not only did he get me exactly what I wanted (White Linen) but the parfum in the flacon. Still have it after all these years..
Would love the following.. Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2013, $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate, Leonore Greyl Holiday Gold Collection, Billy Jealousy Shave3Some, In Fiore Body Balm. Wishing you all at CaFleureBon, and your readers a wonderful Holiday Season. Loved Claudia’s sentiments about being kind, and always keeping those you cherish close and express your feelings.

  • Oh, boy, do I have a “scrubber” for y’all. Well, maybe on the right man, after the right amount of alcohol…

My father was a physician who grew up during The Great Depression. To say the man was “thrifty” would be to do him a disservice. He prided himself on his ability to save a buck. He ate dairy products that were almost a year past their expiration date, and even sported the occasional women’s blouse if it was caught on fire sale. So, Christmukkah was always interesting; you never knew if you were going to get something that was borderline tasteless, something that you sent right to Goodwill, something that was worth re-gifting just for laughs, or something that went straight into the garbage.

Did I mention that he worked at a Veterans Hospital? So the majority of our presents came from the sale shelves of the VA Canteen. One Christmukkah (our hybrid holiday– before we gave up on trying to get together in a timely fashion, and just started celebrating Kwanzaa, or “Decembra”), he surprised me with not just one gift, but two. The first, a white sweatshirt featuring the stylized image of a Persian cat’s head (from the school of Patrick Nagel, if the student were equipped with a Bedazzler), with gold glitter on its whiskers, and two huge rhinestone eyes. It was like he had never me me before.

But we’re here about gift #2, right? So let’s move past the glory of the sparkly cat face sweatshirt, and get to that. Number two was an acid-washed fannypack (!!!) filled with travel sized, dark green plastic bottles of Brut. Yup. As in, “Brut: For Men.” The whole thing was bad, from top to bottom. Acid-washed fannypack? Where do I start? And the Brut itself was very old, to the point where it had turned to that chemical, something-you’d-find-in-an-auto-mechanic’s-garage smell. “Scrubbing” probably would have accomplished nothing. And it was for men. Cheap, old, fannypack-wearing men.

Anyway, in honor of my reliving that memory, I think I deserve my top TWO presents: The $100 e-giftcard to Beautyhabit, and the Original Scent Holiday Scent Canvas. Beyond that, you may grace me with gifts at your discretion (keeping in mind my traumatic childhood, and how deeply it scarred me). Kidding! While all I’ve told you is true, I love the heck out of my weird old dad, and all the great stories he left me with. I would, however, also like the Michael Edwards “Fragrances of the World” book. While I may never get a chance to smell them all, a girl can dream. 🙂

I’m in the U.S. Thank you!! And thank you for Cafleurbon. It transports me out of my dull, every day life, to a world where everything is lovely, and smells like thing you need a million beautiful words to describe.

  • Dear Santa and Elf, Masters of Merriment,

I have been an exceptionally good mama this year. I think it’s wonderful that you do so many giveaways for your fans here. Even when you don’t have a freebie, however, I love reading your blog. It’s one of the few pages I follow with any regularity, because it’s so beautifully written… and makes me want to write, too! I love the imagery you use. I’ve even tried to pay more attention to scent in my novel writing since being turned on to your blog. I give full credit to Nancy Knowes for that!

Wishing you a magical holiday season. I’m in the U.S., and if my entry is selected, I humbly request the following:

Ormonde Jayne Ormonde Woman Hydrating Bath/Shower Cream

Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2013

    $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate

Agraria Nob Hill Bath Bar set

Original Scent Holiday Scent Canvas set

Thanks again for a fun draw!

  • In gratitude I really don’t think I have had a true scrubber on me, just fragrances I don’t like at first. Candy and lollie-like scents don’t do well on me (Bond 9 I Love NY for her is the the most recent tried) .

I live in the US. Would love to have an opportunity to try/read

Ormonde Jayne Ormonde Woman Hydrating Bath/Shower Cream

Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2013, autographed by Mr. Edwards

    $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate

Leonore Greyl Holiday Gold Collection: full-size (7 oz) Soin Naturel du Cheveu Masque Quintessence and Shampooing Reviviscence and travel size (.84 oz) Huile Secret de Beauté

Agraria Nob Hill Bath Bar set: Lemon Verbean, Balsam, Bitter Orange and Lavender & Rosemary

In Fiore Body Balm in the Vetivert scent

Thanks for a great draw – as usual!

  • I’ve not had a lot of scrubbers but Byredo’s Pulp was one that I couldn’t stand. Somehow on me it smelled like a cheap Bath & Body Works concoction. Good thing it was a sample so not too much loss there.

I love all the great gift ideas you’ve mentioned here. They will come in handy when I’m shopping for my fellow fume-inclined friend. 🙂

I would love the $100 certificate from Beauty Habit. I was planning on purchasing Bas de Soie for an aunt. So this would come in very handy. If not, the Ormonde Jayne Shower Cream and the Michael Edwards book would be great too. I’m in Canada – not too far from where Scenta & her elves live 🙂

Thanks for the great draw. Here’s to a great start to the Holiday Season!

I’d be thrilled with anything at all, but I’d especially love the Jardins Decrivains Dickens scented candle (500 grams), Le Palais des Thés: Hamman tea tin (4.4 oz) and Hammam scented candle (6.88 oz) Persephenie Rose & Frankincense Heart Opening Candies (1/2 oz) (I’m sensing a theme here!) the Agraria Nob Hill Bath Bar set: Lemon Verbena, Balsam, Bitter Orange and Lavender & Rosemary (8.2 oz each), the Holiday Canvas Scent and just to be greedy, the Beauty Habit e-certificate.

And Dear Scenta…..FULL disclosure: I DO NOT DESERVE ANY OF THIS ( But I’d sure love to have it!)

  • Dear Scenta Claus,
Please bring gifts for my schnozz.
I’d holler with glee if you would leave me,
Something from Ormonde Jayne under the tree.
Or maybe a Leonore Greyl hair collection,
Because my tresses are messy and need resurrection.
Lastly, oh Scenta, please re-gift this Womanity,
To someone who’s committed crimes against humanity.

    ————————————————-
I live in the US, and I would love to win the Leonore Greyl hair collection (my first choice), the Ormonde Jayne shower cream, the Fragrances of the World book, the Jardins d’Ecrevains Dickens scented candle, or the $100 Beautyhabit e-certificate. Thanks and happy holidays!

  • Dearest Tama & Michelyn–

Generosity is key during the holiday season, and both of you are most certainly at the top of the list of being the kind & loving Christmas fairies of all time by hosting this wonderous giveaway of lovely treasures!

Should you wish to wave a handful of fairy dust my way, I would delight in having the Beautyhabit E certificate…

Would I use this certificate on me, myself & I? Of course not!

I would strive to emulate you, the Christmas fairies of the present and future, and I’d share this lovely prize with those who are near and dear to me!

    xoxoxo

    Linda S.

  • The worst scrubber I got? A fake (a really terrible fake) of JPG’s Le Male. Oh yuck. I still have that thing at home. Notes of papercuts with vinegar and salt in fleshwounds. Or somehing like that.
I live in Germany and would love any of the international prizes! What a great draw. 🙂

  • One of the worst gifts i ever got was a bottle of Boss Bottled. I am sorry, but I absolutely despise anything from that house fragrance-wise. Not even as a toilet scenter.
I live in Belgium, so I’d love to win the $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate.
    Thanks for the draw!

  • A friend gifted me a mini of Chloe eau de parfum. The harshest, spikiest, laundry rose ever to invade my nose. I’ve never scrubbed so hard in my life!

Thanks for the draw! I am in Australia and would like to win Ormonde Jayne Ormonde Woman Hydrating Bath/Shower Cream (150 ml) and $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate.

  • My most unpleasant scented Xmas present was definitely Red Door by Elizabeth Arden. My boyfriend at the time had brought it back from an overseas holiday and I didn’t have the heart to tell him it wasn’t really for me. But he must have noticed with the not very well used bottle.

Thanks for the draw – everything looks wonderful but I’m in France so only the international prizes for me.

    Cheers,

    Megan

  • Chapeau Clack says:

The worst scrubber I ever had the misfortune of actually wearing on myself was Oriflame Eclipse forced on me by a business minded friend at the ripe age of 15. Oh sweet heavens above, that thing was V.I.L.E. Imagine all the sad little chemical flowers in the world steeped in calone and topped off with a good helping of laundry musk. And the juice was purple too. Unsuspectingly, I sprayed my clothes and skin with a liberal hand and went about my daily stuff, aforementioned friend in tow. We cleared a rush hour busload of people within seconds of getting on the bus. We got stares everywhere we went, and finally we were thrown out of the library after several people pointed our stench out to the staff. Myself, I ended up with the mother of all perfume induced migraines that night, helpless puking and all. And I actually paid for this horror in a bottle. Six dollars, I think (?) My friend went on to business school, by the way. So those extraordinary skills of hers certainly didn’t go to waste. And I’ve been a hater of anything with the faintest drop of calone in it ever since.

Since I’m outside of the US, I’d absolutely love to win M.Edwards Fragrances of the World 2013. I’ve been lusting after these yearly editions for a long while now and even wrote to the publisher once, but apparently there were shipping complications to my neck of the woods. However, I wouldn’t be sending the Ormonde Woman Hydrating Bath/Shower Cream or the Beautyhabit certificate back either hint hint

Happy December y’all, and thanks for the great gift ideas and giveway!

  • I’ve been my own Santa for too many years to write a ‘Dear Santa’. Frankly I’m afraid of what I might ask of myself.
My scrubber is easy to pick. Secretions Magnifique.

I’d like to be in the draw for Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2013 and the $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate
    I’m an international reader.

  • My worst scrubber was a birthday gift by a well meaning friend but unfortunately I HATED the way the scent interacted with my skin: JPJ ´s Fleur du Mâle…
I would love to win( I live in France) Ormonde Jayne ‘s Ormonde Woman Hydrating Bath/Shower Cream, Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World or the $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate.
Thank you for this great draw!

  • Dear Santa Claus,

In 2013 I behaved so well,
I even stopped using the hairstyling gel.
I also titied my room once a week,
so that Santa would know which kid he should pick.
In the kitchen I learned how to make some cookies,
They’re very delicious, not only for rookies.
I’ve been doing my best during classes at school,
just check out my grades and you’ll say “that’s cool!”
    I’m perfumista-friendly, I helped others too,
If I had what they wished for, I’ve sent them a sample or two.
Now I’m a little sad because my scholarship is gone,
I feel a bit down, but not completely alone.
A gift certificate from Beautyhabit site,
will absolutely help me with some purchase, alright!
So my dearest Santa, make my wish come true
So that this perfumista can say “big thank you!”

Please consider me for all worldwide prizes (does Beautyhabit ship to Poland?)

  • maysamassimo says:

Hi! My worst scrubber was Le Labo’s Patchouli 24. I don’t get along with the birch tar note, it always makes me feel sick. I’m in the US and I’d like to win the following prizes: Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2013; $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate; Original Scent Holiday Scent Canvas set; Agraria Nob Hill Bath Bar set: Lemon Verbean, Balsam, Bitter Orange and Lavender & Rosemary.
    Thanks for another amazing draw!

  • I have never experienced any scrubber perfume …. however one smell that I could not just stand was (with all respect to Revlon) Charlie perfume which left a really heavy floral smell.
As for dear Santa I have not done anything worth saying (no deed indeed) nor any bad things….
If I am lucky I would love to have any of the three worldwide presents meaning :
Ormonde Jayne Hydrating Bath/Shower Cream 150 ml or
Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2013 or
    $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate
Thanks for this lovely draw. I live in EU.

  • What a great posting and ideas list, a profusion of useful aroma shopping info – a big grand huge THANK YOU!
    And thanks for the giveway!
A total scrubber – the last was Blood Concept +MA, which hit me with a horrible nausea walking around in Hamburg, unable to sniff anything after it! Moreover, my anorak sleeve smelled like this forever!!! Only the dry cleaner’s could remove the stink…Montana’s Parfum de Peau takes the 2nd place…

  • Ooops, I forgot to mention – I’m in Bulgaria, therefore I apply for the worldwide prizes: Ormonde Jayne Ormonde Woman Hydrating Bath/Shower Cream, Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2013 and $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate. Thanks!

  • I am in the US, and the worst scrubber I’ve found is Chanel allure–it gives me a headache. (It’s not exactly that I hate the scent, but anything headache-inducing has to be scrubbed, and this one does it every single time I get even one whiff.)

I would love to win any of these:
-Ormonde Jayne Ormonde Woman Hydrating Bath/Shower Cream (150 ml)

-Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2013, autographed by Mr. Edwards

    -$100 Beautyhabit E Certificate

-Leonore Greyl Holiday Gold Collection: full-size (7 oz) Soin Naturel du Cheveu Masque Quintessence and Shampooing Reviviscence and travel size (.84 oz) Huile Secret de Beauté

-Billy Jealousy Shave3Some: Hot Towel, Hydroplane, and Shaved Ice in travel bag (3 oz each)

-In Fiore Body Balm in the Vetivert scent (240 ml)

-Le Palais des Thés: Hamman tea tin (4.4 oz) and Hammam scented candle (6.88 oz)

-Jardins D’Ecrivains Dickens scented candle (500 grams)

-Original Scent Holiday Scent Canvas set (four .25 oz bottles with case)

  • Dear Scentas,

CaFleureBon just lit my nose up as bright as Rudolph’s

So many great gifts to sniff and such wonderful choices. I would love the jardins decrivains candle to burn Christmas Eve at my parents home. I haven’t seen them in 12 years and when I was a little girl I remember hiding under the bed as my mother read a Christmas Carol and my father would rattle the silver ware in the other room every time Marley ghost was mentioned

I would use the beautyhabit gc to buy it btw. All these prizes are so generous as are the writers and sponsors . God bless us everyone

  • 🙂 O.k. ~ Here is my story : I am somewhat new to this whole niche perfume world and recently joined a group on facebook that has actually changed my life in so many unexpected ways… When I joined I had no idea how many kind, generous and just plain wonderful people I would meet.I have some ongoing health issues and do not have much of a social life these days ~ I normally only interact with my two little ones on a daily basis so it has been lonely in some ways… Finding so many great people that understand and share my obsession with all things scent related has been amazing for me.I am learning so much from everyone and I had finally decided that I wanted to purchase my first ever full bottle of niche perfume as a Christmas gift to myself ( right now I only have samples and a few small decants ) ~ but as it has turned out between my illness keeping me from working a lot of the time and Christmas shopping for my girls I am not going to be able to afford it this year. Now,do not get me wrong – I am extremely grateful to just be alive and able to spend The Holidays with my family… but,I was really looking forward to my very first full bottle and the fun of sharing the whole experience with the group I joined.I am thinking that it would be absolutely AMAZING to win the Beautyhabit E Certificate because it would make it possible for me to afford my first full bottle!! 🙂 Besides all of that,I also want to thank you all for teaching me so much… reading your reviews and posts has been one of my favorite things to do when I am stuck in bed on my not so good days health wise.Thank you for everything you do and an extra thank you for all of these generous gifts!! I am looking forward to the New Year and a whole year filled with new scents, new friends and so much kindness.I love being a part of this “Fragrance Obsessed” community!! Wishing everyone a healthy, happy and absolutely MAGICAL Holiday Season.I live in the U.S.

  • The last perfume I had to scrub was Parfum d’Empire’s Ayizade. It just didn’t agree with me at all and the cacophony of spice was overwhelming. My family wouldn’t come near me!

I am in the U.S. and would be overjoyed to receive any of these:

Ormonde Jayne Ormonde Woman Hydrating Bath/Shower Cream
Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2013
    $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate
Agraria Nob Hill Bath Bar set
In Fiore Body Balm in the Vetivert scent
Le Palais des Thés: Hamman tea tin and Hammam scented candle
    Jardins D’Ecrivains Dickens scented candle
Original Scent Holiday Scent Canvas set

  • To you dear sweet Scentas and all you sweet and sweet smelling folk at Cafleurebon, here is my tale to tell. Since you visited me last year the about to be legendary summer from hell happened. We took in relatives who needed Florida sun and tranquility. They come from a place in SW Virginia where something bearing a very upsetting resemblance to the eye of Sauron is. There are mountains and haints and lots of refills for things like percocet. We wanted to get them away from there and when we did these things happened; somebody ate a Costco size jar of mayonnaise in an hour flat, someone pulled out his own tooth right in front of the rest of us, I had to tell a 15 year old not to bite a five year old, and the tooth puller commemorated my half century birthday by getting smashed and making a scene at my party. The worst part; he showered a grand total of TWO times in three months. TWO. P-u!!!! I know Scenta you must feel my pain over that. They are blessedly gone now but oh Scenta I would totally forget the summer of Honey BooBoo and family if I get a goodie from you and your wonderful Cafleurebon elves. The Dickens candle sounds lovely and my sweet DH who lived through these horrors would be thrilled to have it to help wind down at bedtime. The gift certificate would be lovely too, and the lavender vanilla diffuser and oh, any of these sound yummy. And maybe a lump of coal for that non bather who is banned from Chez Moi now. Love and kisses and cookies and milk, Vicki

  • Dear Santa and Elves,
This year I’ve been really good, and there’s a few things on my list.
So I sat down and wrote this little poem so you can get the gist:

My favorite gifts come in tubes, jars, and little glass bottles
You know that’s why the CaFleureBon editors are my role models 😉
But I can’t trust my lover to get my Christmas hints,
He’s awfully kind but just doesn’t understand my itch
To add to my collection of beauty and bath elixirs.
You know, I think I got it, that Beautyhabit gift certificate would fix it.
Just drop it my stocking, be sly, and you’re both good guys!
(At least for a while til I need to renew my supply…)

And you know I try hard to follow a natural beauty regimen,
I believe botanicals can be a very potent medicine.
The best cure for looking and feeling good comes from within,
But I think the In Fiore Body Balm would also feel quite good on my skin!
And the Vetivert scent, so earthy and fresh,
Will transport me to another place, in mind if not in flesh.
I’d really love to try this lovely product
A gift from you– you’re the best! (and this way’s kinder to my wallet).

This year’s been stressful, but then again, aren’t they all?
I need a little help to unwind sometimes, I need a good cure-all.
A warm bath works to soothe the mind and revive the soul,
But there are times a soak’s not feasible, and I feel I might lose control.
Persephenie’s smelling salts in my purse would be a good quick-fix
To get my mind back on track, my own portable private stress-nix.
Three things we all need more of: to be calm, clear, and open.
Finding these treats under the tree, that’s what I’m really hopin’!

So, Santa (and Elves!) just to recap:

    -$100 Beautyhabit Gift Certificate
-In Fiore Body Balm in the Vetivert scent
-Persephenie Smelling Salts in Mental Clarity and Calm Balance and Rose & Frankincense Heart Opening Candies

Those are the gifts I’d love to unwrap!

P.S.: THANK YOU for all the wonderful reviews throughout the year, and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Oh, and I’m in the U.S.

  • Dear Scenta,
I know of a few scrubbers in my time. A early scrubber would be Evening in Paris. A dime store staple that at least half of the population wore, I swear it was every where. Giorgio was potent and shame on you if you were caught pregnant in a elevator with at least one person wearing this… I was. Poison was just that for me.
Your offerings are the bomb! The Nob Hill Bath Bar Collection is a favorite, Ormonde Jane Hydrating shower cream would be a fab starting place. Letting my mind wander I’d pick the $100 gift certificate, the original scent canvas, the Dickens candle & the Fiore Body Balm. I so enjoy your generosity & knowledge. Happy Holidays xoxo

  • What a great holiday list…I am going to use many of these suggestions. The worst scrubber for me are all the Mariah carey and Britney spears perfumes. They are terrible. I would love the Michael Edwards Book

  • tomate farcie says:

My all time worst scrubber is Joop, not only did it not work pas de tout with my chemistry but I had an allergic reaction to something so I was sneezing like crazy!
I’m in the US. My choices would be Beauty Habit, Jardin d’Écrivans Dickens candle, Fiore Body Balm, Palais des Thés tea and candle

  • I don’t think I can do better than Tammy J, so I’ll talk scrubbers. The worst so far was Spicebomb. My skin (nose?) tends to amplify peppery notes, and Spicebomb was both overwhelming and unbearable. I received a sample very early in my incipient perfumistahood, so I spritzed with abandon, and hadn’t yet learned any tricks for perfume removal. I wound up taking a long shower, using LOTS of soap.

I’m in the US, and would enjoy the Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2013, the $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate, the Agraria Nob Hill Bath Bar set, or the Original Scent Holiday Scent Canvas set.

Thank you, Scenta Claus, and Perfume Elves!

  • I love books and I love fragrances, I would be super super happy with Michael Edwards’s signed book, it would totally be the best Christmas present!

Worst scrubber? Not very original, but I’ll have to go with Obsession. In other perfumes I like, even love all the notes from Obsession, but the big O itself just smelled like sick on me.

  • How incredibly generous! Thank you both. The worst scrubber that I ever received was a Moschino fragrance. I can’t remember which one now as I’ve tried to block out the memory. lol. Another bad one (sorry to anyone who loved it) was Zelda.

I’m in the US and would love any of the gifts you’ve tempted us with but especially:
    the Beautyhabit e-certificate;
Mr. Edwards’ Fragrances of the World book (sound gorgeous!!!)
The Dickens candle from Jardins d’Ecrivains
    Le Palais des Thés candles,
Ormonde Jayne Ormonde Woman Hydrating Bath/Shower Cream; or
The Nob Hill luxury bath bar collection

  • My worst scrubber ever is Mitsouko. Sorry to say, but it’s true. Thanks for the draw – I’m in the USA! I’d be happy with any of the following (in no particular order):

-Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2013, autographed by Mr. Edwards
    -$100 Beautyhabit E Certificate
-Leonore Greyl Holiday Gold Collection: full-size (7 oz) Soin Naturel du Cheveu Masque Quintessence and Shampooing Reviviscence and travel size (.84 oz) Huile Secret de Beauté
-Agraria Nob Hill Bath Bar set: Lemon Verbean, Balsam, Bitter Orange and Lavender & Rosemary (8.2 oz each)
-Le Palais des Thés: Hamman tea tin (4.4 oz) and Hammam scented candle (6.88 oz)
    – Jardins D’Ecrivains Dickens scented candle (500 grams)
-Original Scent Holiday Scent Canvas set (four .25 oz bottles with case)

  • julesinrose says:

I don’t know why I’m bothering with an entry. I haven’t a scrubber story and I’m not good at sucking up. I can say, with sincerity, that this has been a difficult year and Cafleurebon has been a daily delight. That’s not sucking up for it’s the truth.

Most people I know think scent is superfluous, frivolous, even decadent. It can be all of these things, but I know it’s also an art form and can uplift, transform, bring comfort (and joy!).

So, I give thanks to you all for informing and delighting with your words, bringing the ineffable and nearly indescribable to life, with wit, and smarts, and lovely imagery.

And yes, I want stuff! I’d love love love a Beautyhabit E Certificate! That would be a treat (to say the least)!

New bath soaps would be lovely, so I’d like the Agraria Nob Hill Bath Bar set!

It would be pretty nifty to have a copy of Fragrances of the World 2013, autographed by Mr. Edwards himself!

Thanks again, for a wonderful post and wonderful draw! The amount of giveaways from this site is so much fun! You are Santa and elves – making merry and bringing joy – all year long!!!

  • Dear Scenta & Elfie-pooh

I’m hoping that you two most beautiful and talented and generous magical pixies will consider my wish list.

First, for my daughter who is also a beauty junkie (addicted to YouTube tutorials and whose dream job is make-up artist) and a budding perfumista – I would love to gift her with the $100 BeautyHabit GC and the Michael Edwards 2013 Fragrances Of The World book. But since she won’t be able to visit her mama this year as she started a new job and won’t get the time off, I’ll have to keep them under the tree until who knows when? *Cries*

Next, for my mom, to whom I usually give a bottle of perfume that she covets, since she also collects unusual and beautifully packaged soaps, the Agraria Nob Hill luxury soaps would be perfect for her.

Then lastly, for moi, it sure would be lovely to be able to indulge in a little aromatherapy with the Ormonde Jayne Woman hydrating bath/shower cream and the Jardins d’Ecrirains Dickens candle.

Here’s hoping that you two magnanimous and selfless bewitching and marvelous individuals will consider my list of longings.

    With warm regards.
    RusticDove

PS: Chanel No.18 was scrubber city! Couldn’t scrub it fast enough and the memory of it haunts me still.

  • HA! The worst scrubber I ever got at Christmas was Grey Flannel.
For bringing up to my memory that nightmare, I’d like to win the $100 Beautyhabit e certificate, or Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2013, autographed by Mr. Edwards or the Billy Jealousy Shave3Some: Hot Towel, Hydroplane, and Shaved Ice in travel bag. Thank you. USA

  • I first met my husband’s family on Christmas Eve twenty-one years ago .They wanted me to have something to open so they gave me a couple gifts. I don’t know if it counts as a scrubber, but one was a gift set of five mini perfumes. All I remember is two of them were some kind of Elizabeth Taylor fragrance. I returned the set to Hudson’s (now sadly gone) for store credit to buy something I wanted.
Now everyone knows not to buy me fragrance and my husband has put up with my obsession for almost 22 years!

Am not a creative writer like many of the above posters but I am in the US and have been a mostly good girl this year.

The Michael Edwards book (autographed!!) would be at the top of my list.

I’d like to win the Beauty Habit gift certificate, the Ormond Jayne Woman bath/ shower creme, Original Scent’s Holiday Scent canvas, Le Palais des Thes set, the Jardins D’Ecrivains Dickens candle, or Fiore Body Balm in Vetivert. Thank you!

  • What a wonderful draw! I want to be creative but with a 101 degree fever today I can’t think straight, so I will just say truthfully that I am thrilled I have gotten to know Michelyn and Tama and grateful for all I have learned from both of you already. I also am a fan of Beautyhabit for the past 15 years. As for the worst fragrance gift I ever got, it was Jesus del Pozo In Black. It had the notes I hate most in it (calone and cucumber) plus synthetic cherry, synthetic musk and nasty patchouli. I didn’t even actually open the bottle, but it leaked and I got *one drop* of it on my hand– it filled up the entire car, ruined my dinner and clung to my clothes for days. It was so awful I had to have my husband dispose of it as a hazmat.

I am in the US and these are the prizes I am interested in:

Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2013

    $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate

    Leonore Greyl Holiday Gold Collection

Agraria Nob Hill Bath Bar set: Lemon Verbean, Balsam, Bitter Orange and Lavender & Rosemary (8.2 oz each)

Persephenie Smelling Salts in Mental Clarity and Calm Balance (1 oz each) and Rose & Frankincense Heart Opening Candies (1/2 oz)

In Fiore Body Balm in the Vetivert scent (240 ml)

Le Palais des Thés: Hamman tea tin (4.4 oz) and Hammam scented candle (6.88 oz)

Jardins D’Ecrivains Dickens scented candle (500 grams)

Marie Todd Reed Diffuser in Rest (7 oz)

Original Scent Holiday Scent Canvas set (four .25 oz bottles with case)

    Thanks again and happy holidays!

  • My morning ritual is to grab my coffee, open my computer and go straight to Cafleurebon. What new scents that I’ve never heard of will Tama be describing? What lovely paintings will Michelyn introduce me to? Mark, John, and all the other Cafleurebon writers…You are my morning news I choose to start my day with!

The worst scrubber I ever bought was for my husband…Versace Dreamer.

I am in the US and would love to win:
    Beautyhabit gift certificate
    Jardins D’Ecrivains Dicken candle
    In Fiore Body Balm
Michael Edwards “Fragrances of the World”
    Leonroel Greyl gift bag
    Persephine candle and salts
Le Paiais de Thea candle and tea

  • I do secret charity and I am on the verge of developing a cure for musk anosmia… but I am too humble so you will never hear about it. My lips are sealed. Too bad, because winning would be so good for me, I am at death’s door and my doctors told me that cheering me up could significantly improve my life expectancy. The children from one of the foundations I fund tried to cheer me up just the other day by giving me Clinique’s Chemistry. I couldn’t bring myself to tell them that this comes first in my list of scrubbers… so I had someone else break the news to them.

Now, just in case someone -anyone really- wanted to cheer me up… and possibly prolong my life so that the world would benefit from my existence even more, a humble gift such as a $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate or Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2013, autographed by Mr. Edwards might do the trick (cough cough*)……. yes you guessed it right, international reader here

  • My worst scrubber was Montale Black Aoud.It smells like hospital for me…Sorry.
    I would love to win
Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2013
    $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate
Le Palais des Thés: Hamman tea tin
Agraria Nob Hill Bath Bar set
    Ormonde Jayne Hydrating Bath/Shower Cream
    U.S.
    Thank you for the draw!

  • Happy holidays to all! The term scrubber elicits one name in my mind (with flashing lights and whistles): Cartier’s So Pretty. Oh man, that scent stayed with me for a while despite my best efforts. For me, it was a complete misnomer! I live in the US and would be happy to receive any of the gifts.

  • That guy Amer (2 posts above) deserves to win with a letter like that-I’ll send him my Christmas cake made by my 91 year old mother, maybe one of the few she’ll ever make now pray heed, but he needs it more than me. I can hear his plea for life, a plain life of research and development I gather, and I know that cake hits the very spot – did I tell you? Made with my 91 year old mothers hands. So I won’t suck up to you two hot gorgeous women of profound insight and clarity and who are blessed by natures abundance inside and out. Instead let me tell you Britney Spears Fantasy gets me gagging. International status currently so in for the WORLDWIDE: Ormonde Jayne Ormonde Woman Hydrating Bath/Shower Cream (150 ml)
Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2013, autographed by Mr. Edwards
    $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate

  • Worst scrubber ever? Definitely Leather Oud by Dior. Almost seemed like one of those joke scents you might buy at Spencers or some store for pranking items, with barnyard full of cow… you know what. That’s about as graphic as I’d like to get. Thank you for the draw. Happy Holidays!!!

    $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate

  • I think my worst scrubber would have to have been The Vagabond Prince. I was desperately upset because EVERYONE I know LOVED it and good heavens what was I missing? I thought I was in the dark about a special new thing.

    I’d love to win –
    $100 Beauty Habit certificate,
Original Scent’s Holiday Scent Canvas ***I love mixing/matching/layering!!
Tea from Le Palais des Thés would almost bee too much excitement but I believe the Jardins D’Ecrivains Dickens scented candle , to burn along with drinking, would settle me in to a blissful state of holiday gratitude for CafleureBon.
I live in the US, and many many thanks for the chance!

  • Chris Schaefer says:

I have actually never discovered a perfume in my Christmas stocking so……I can’t even remember any ever giving me a perfume at all. So, any mistakes have been all my responsibility.

This draw sounds like so much fun and I did get some great ideas for gifts. Inspired!

My favorites would be: the Jardins D’Ecrivains Dickens candle, the Agraria Nob Hill Bath Bar set, the Ormonde Woman Hydrating Bath Shower Creme and of course, Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2013.

Thanks so much and the happiest of holdays!

  • Oh, what a night I had! My personal assistant, Cindy Lou Cratchit was whining about getting home to her family on Christmas Eve–I mean, really, it’ll be Christmas again in about seven months, does it matter if she misses opening a present or two with her passel of ankle-biters? Anyway, I let her go, but she’ll find out later she kissed her Christmas bonus goodbye. Then my pesky nephew showed up to ask me to some holiday dinner party he was hosting at Olive Garden (Olive Garden? REALLY?). Thanks, but no thanks.

I went home to finish the work that Cindy Lou left without completing, then went to bed, and you’ll never guess who showed up! The ghost of my useless former business partner, also my ex-husband, whose over-applied Drakaar Noir can be smelled from beyond the grave. Blahblahblah, Jake, I see your lips moving but as usual, you’re not saying anything. Lugging around chains for eternity? Hey, you always said your quads needed work.

Still, the dreams I had were strange, indeed: Last time I wash down cold pepperoni-and-mushroom pizza with Champagne at midnight. First, I woke up to see a large, glowing bottle before me…it was a gorgeous, almost-full vintage Mitsouko Parfum bottle. Oh, torture! I recognized it immediately, and saw my much younger self reaching out to touch it, hold it. I fell in love with it at an antique shop many years ago…then walked away without purchasing, and have been kicking myself ever since! I saw my younger, more foolish self hunched over, weeping, when I sensed a presence looming over me. I glanced up to see a figure dressed in opulent, regal robes and wearing a glittering crown — why, Bertrand Duchaufour, is that YOU? What is that under your robes? You call it “Ignorance,” I call it Mon Numero 3 (why, why did I think I needed to buy a full bottle at the Covent Garden L’Artisan boutique last year?)…and what’s that labeled “Want”? Oh, you cruel, cruel man, it’s a full bottle of Neela Vermeire Trayee! Wait, don’t go! Come baaaaaaack!

I recognized these specters as the Ghosts of Perfumes Past and Present, but what was yet to come was the worst horror by far! Looking down I could see my aged self, in a hospital gown, with a doctor holding a clipboard on which I could see only one word, writ large: ANOSMIA. Then I could see my friends, crowded around my extensive fragrance collection, divvying up the bottles amongst themselves! Oh, spirits, is there any way I can avert this fate worse than death!? Ah, but then I awoke in my own bed. And it’s only Christmas morning? Oh please, Dear Scentsa, I’m a reformed woman, and if I win the $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate, I will give it to my loyal, long-suffering assistant Cindy Lou Cratchit, who can use it to replace that horrible Justin Bieber Girlfriend she’s been wearing. (My choices in order are these, but I’d happily win anything! 😉 )

  • My real mother would bend over me smelling of red roses and sunlight. But alas – after her death – my father married a spiteful woman with two malicious daughters who all have their own bespoke perfumes. Hourly they douse themselves in this concoction of cat pee, crotch-sweat and French cheese. Spending all my days sweeping out the cellar I hardly see them, but I still get repeated whiffs…and frequently faint away. When I wake, covered in cinders from the fireplace, they pull my hair and call me Cinderella.

I live in a land far far away, dreaming each night of a Beautyhabit E Certificate, of an enchanted fragrance that would perfume this fetid cellar and evoke fantastic pumpkins and fairy-tale balls.

  • I would like to win Ormonde Jayne Ormonde Woman Hydrating Bath/Shower Cream (150 ml)
Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2013, autographed by Mr. Edwards
    $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate

My worst scrubber found in Christmas stocking was scent of unknown origin given me by my sister. I guess she never tried it and it got it for free. I couldnt stand it. Later I ve read that it was recommend to buyers not to buy it since it contained some dangerous chemicals.:-)
    Lubka, Europe

  • The worstscrubber would have to be Little Miss Panda. I really enjoy Little Miss Panda Gets Lei’d. So, imagine my surprise at how unbelievably awful it smelled on me. Literally the most atrocious scent. I bought the oil, so from time to time I try to mix and layer it to make it less offensive. No luck. A close second would be the opening to White Sandalwood by Nest. It smells like a rest area bathroom. It was a little jarring. The drydown, however, was just lovely. It ended up being pretty interesting. Hopefully I will find some combo to fix the the ultimate scrubber. Open to suggestions. Lol. I would love to win the e certificate from beauty habit, In Fiore body balm, and original scent holiday canvas set. Would also love the Ormonde Jayne hydrating bath shower cream. I am in the US. Thanks

  • The worst scrubber I ever got for Christmas was White Diamonds, it just didn’t work for me! It seemed to smell worse on me than when I’ve smelled it on others.

I’m in the U.S. and would love to win:

Ormonde Jayne Ormonde Woman Hydrating Bath/Shower Cream (150 ml)

Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2013, autographed by Mr. Edwards

    $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate

Leonore Greyl Holiday Gold Collection: full-size (7 oz) Soin Naturel du Cheveu Masque Quintessence and Shampooing Reviviscence and travel size (.84 oz) Huile Secret de Beauté

Agraria Nob Hill Bath Bar set: Lemon Verbean, Balsam, Bitter Orange and Lavender & Rosemary (8.2 oz each)

Le Palais des Thés: Hamman tea tin (4.4 oz) and Hammam scented candle (6.88 oz)

Thank you and best wishes for a happy holiday!

  • Fazal Cheema says:

    Dear Scenta,

I have chosen you over Santa because i found heaven exists on this earth and I want all the fun before my last breath. No matter how imgainary descriptions I read of heaven, I found my mortal fellow humans always exceeded those fantasies with their marvelous creations. And few things make life as beautiful as perfumes that have been created over the centuries. Anything that lights my imagination excites me and perfumes are not merely a tool to smell pleasant for me but more a source of igniting my imagination. Thus, I want nothing more than Michael Edwards Book this Christmas because Knowledge is Forever and Perfume Knowledge is just too damn irresistible! I am not sure if I have been a good or bad person this year but I sure have been a ScentGood one this year. This is the first time I have shown a believe in a mythical creature so please make my first serious dab at a religion worthwhile 🙂 Dear Scenta, I will be waiting for you on a Caleche and of course, you could replace horse with Rudolph the red-nose deer!

My top choice is of course Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2013 and second choice is $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate. I proud fully reside in the US of A.

  • Usually I try to smell the sprayers or the card before putting something on my skin, but I ordered some montale samples to check them out. I had no idea that this one was going to attack my nose so fiercely and violently. It was Montale’s chypre vanille and wow was it horribly wrong on my skin. On my first sniff I knew I made a terrible mistake putting this one. Unlikely for me, montale scents come in parfum concentration and there was no way of me getting rid of this smell for the past 3 hours – what a strong scrubber! Also, not sure why but Dark Aoud was another scrubber from Montale. I usually really enjoy woody scents of all kind but this one was just diffently not for me. It came off so dry and painfully synthetic on my skin that memories of it still regret ever putting it on.

Would like to be entered for the following:

  • Dear Scentaclaus,

This holiday season I can’t seem to find the time to write you the properly prepared letter I wanted to. Since I know you write much longer all the time. The Holiday Gold Collection for my persnickety hair.
Persephenie Smelling Salts in Mental Clarity and Calm Balance (1 oz each) and Rose & Frankincense Heart Opening Candies (1/2 oz)
In Fiore Body Balm in the Vetivert scent (240 ml)

  • USA
I have no creativity so no Dear Scenta letter from me, just happy holidays to all at cfb, I’ve really appreciated the past year of the blog! Thank you each and every one.

Some of those poems really cracked me up!

Worst scrubber, in retrospect, maybe CK Truth which I loved on paper and asked for specifically for Chanukah. But now it seems harsh and weird, and even then was sometimes very cloying.

I would love any of these! for myself or to give:

    $100 Beautyhabit e certificate
Ormonde Jayne Woman hydrating bath/shower cream
    In Fiore Body Balm

    Leonore Greyl Holiday Gold Collection
    Billy Jealousy Shave3Some
    Jardins D’Ecrivains Dickens scented candle

Persephenie Smelling Salts in Mental Clarity and Calm Balance (1 oz each) and Rose & Frankincense Heart Opening Candies (1/2 oz)
Le Palais des Thés: Hamman tea tin (4.4 oz) and Hammam scented candle (6.88 oz)
Agraria Nob Hill Bath Bar set

Marie Todd Reed Diffuser in Rest (7 oz)
Original Scent Holiday Scent Canvas set (four .25 oz bottles with case)
Michael Edwards 2013 Fragrances Of The World book

  • susie frankel says:

My scrubber is Indult Tihota…just vanilla, not exciting, sufficatingly sweet…no vanilla for me…I’m on a diet!
Oh for a nice candle with some complexity and changing as the scent continues….my choice Jardins D’Ecrivans Dickens … It’s Christmas time and Dickens is a MUST. USA

  • I live in the U.S. and I thank you for this wonderfully generous draw! I am feeling out of creative juices for the time being so I will not attempt the Dear Scenta letter. With that being said, the worst scrubber which comes to mind is this mango scent I received as a teenager. I don’t remember what it was called, it was a sugary/fruity young girl perfume, and I couldn’t handle it. To this day I shy away from Mango in perfumes, even though the note is probably not what made that particular scent so intolerable. My choices:

    1. $100 Beautyhabit certificate (can completely understand Michelyn’s obsession with beauty products, and I wish I owned that many lipsticks!)

    2. Leonore Greyl Holiday Gold Collection

    3. Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2013, autographed by Mr. Edwards

    Thank you!

  • Sarah Lathrop says:

What a ton of holiday loot you’re giving away!

I live in the U.S. and here is my perfume scrubber gift story…. when I was in late elementary school or possibly early middle school, I decided I liked the drug store caliber scent Vanilla Fields. Well, my grandmother got wind of my affection for this fragrance and decided to give me some on every holiday thereafter. Very sweet of her, but, not long after, when my tastes had matured, I was still receiving Vanilla Fields talcum powder, lotion, full sized bottles of perfume, travel sized bottles of perfume, etc. etc. The stuff is not terrible… until you have drawers of it. I must say, it is no small wonder that as an adult I veer directly away from gourmand scents.

As for your generous prizes I would love the Michael Edwards Fragrances of the world 2013 more than anything, but I would take anything you have to offer.

Please, enter my name in the hat during the drawing for:
1.) Ormonde Jayne hydrating bath and shower cream
2.) Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2013, autographed
    3.) $100 beautyhabit e-certificate
4.) Leonore Greyl Holiday Gold Collection
    5.) Billy Jealousy Shave 3-some
6.) Agraria Nob Hill Bath Bar set
7.) Persephenie Smell Salts and candies
    8.) In Fiore Body Balm
9.) Le Palais des Thes tea and candle
    10.) Jardins D’Ecrivains Dickens candle
11.) Marie Todd reed diffuser in Rest
12.) Original Scent Holiday Scent Canvas set

Since it is almost the end of the year, I also wanted to thank you for alerting me to possibly the best event I’ve been to all year. I attended the panel discussion on Etat Libre d’Orange’s Afternoon of a Faun at the NYC Museum of Art and Design last winter featuring Chandler Burr, Etienne De Swardt, Justin Vivian Bond and Ralf Schwieger. It was absolutely amazing and I will never forget it! I felt like I had the key to New York City (and possibly Paris as well)! Thanks always for the thoughtful reviews, generous give-aways, and all manner of announcements relevant to the world of fragrance!

  • My one would have to be Joop Homme. Definitely not my style. Just way too sweet and gave me a headache. My choices would be

    $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate

Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2013
    Beauty Habit Certificate
Le Palais de Thea candle and tea

Michael Edwards Fragrances of the World 2013, autographed by Mr. Edwards
    $100 Beautyhabit E Certificate
