ÇaFleureBon Black Friday Perfume and Beauty Giveaway: Win $50 Gift Certificates to Twisted Lily Fragrance & Beauty Boutique

the battle of black friday southpark

Black Friday madness South Park

Anyone that braves the mall on Black Friday is a masochist. That is our opinion, although trampling screaming soccer moms and wild eyed dads in search of The Elf on The Shelf does let out your inner agressions.  Technology and Toys are great for the family but why not get yourself something fragrant; you deserve it. Not a mass produced soulless scent but a perfume that is hard to find and extraordinary. Decants just won't do when you can buy the bottle.

Twisted Lily Boutique Bourem Hills Brooklyn

One of my favorite perfumeries is Twisted Lily Boutique in Brooklyn. I love the neighborhood, the relaxing atmosphere in the store, and never feel pressured to buy. When Twisted Lily Fragrance boutique first opened its doors in September of 2013  in Bourem Hills,  I don’t think the co-owners Brooklyn EricWeiser and Stamatis Birsimijoglou ever dreamed that their small 650 square foot shoppe would be the stomping grounds for niche, natural and artistic perfume lovers from all over the world.  They carried 25 perfume brands when the first customers walked into the store and now just a year later you will find  over fifty- from A Lab on Fire – Yosh Olfactory Sense. Twisted Lily expanded their natural and West Coast artisan perfume offerings as well as added hard to find beauty and fragrance brands.

Eric Weiser and me  at the October 25, 2014  Launch Event for Bruno Fazzolari

As someone who came of age in New York City, I bought many of my fragrances from Takashimaya (which closed its doors in 2010). My first exposure to many indie beauty and perfume brands was in the early 1990s when a startup named MAC created a city wide craze for a lipstick named Russian Red and a French perfumer Jean Laporte, created complex scents for L'Artisan Parfumeur. They were sold at Henri Bendel; this was back in the day when the store was next door to the uber hip fashion boutique Charivari (owned coincendently by a mother and son Selma and Jon Weiser, no relation) on 10 West 57th Street. Sadly as of September 2014, Henri Bendel at 712 Fifth Avenue only sells  private label accessories.  Today, Twisted Lily is one of the few perfumeries, like Takashamiya and Bendel were back in the day, that is a launching pad,  an incubator for up and coming olfactive artists. Stamatis, Eric and Boutique manager Anna Young host numerous events, most recently for the launch of Bruno Fazzolari Perfumes and a book signing for Barbara Herman's Scent and Subversion.  If you are not  in the mood for a perfume, the fabulous shoppe also sells hard to find beauty lines like Rouge Bunny Rouge and a carefully curated selection of home fragrance, exquisite home decor giftables, skincare,  bath and body products are what differentiate Twisted Lily from so many other niche perfumeries.

I have been at the boutique when cartons of unsolicited fragrances arrive and although it might take awhile,  the Twisted Lily team absolutely takes the time to review everything that comes in. Some of these submissions are people's passion, their art, their life long work so unlike many boutiques who make snap judgements, without the sniff test, they always spend time reviewing  what is new… and you never know where that next gem is hiding.

According to Stamatis, "One of the most important things Eric and I have learned about fragrance, retail, the fragrance industry, the beauty industry… is to have a bit of fun, to relax… fragrance doesn't have to be so serious. We've learned many people are intimidated by perfume and turned off to fragrance from their experiences in large department stores or with aggressive sales people… and we are so happy to offer them a completely different experience with fragrance. We've also learned that Kali, our dog, tends to like florals".

  • What a great draw! I love to look at the Twisted Lily website … I can spend a lot of time there, dreaming!

There are many on my wish list, but the top three are: What We Do In Paris Is Secret by A Lab On Fire, China White by Nasomatto, and SL Fleur D’Oranger. (So many new-to-me scents I would love to try!)

For Michelyn, I would choose: Xerjoff Irisss (Did I guess correctly?)

  • I bet you’d like the Myrrh Casati…I would love PHI Une Rose De Kandahar. SOUNDS AMAZING! US resident.

  • My wish list would be too long to include in this post but includes a new bottle of Amaranthine and Lyric Woman. I would choose for Michelyn,
phi une rose de kandahar. I’m in the U.S. and thank you for the draw.

  • My wish list is endless, too, but I’d like the Myrrh Casati. Now, Michelyn, I’m trying to think of what you don’t have. . .and maybe it’s Paris L.A.? IT’s a stab in the dark. Sort of.

I lived near Boerum Hill a zillion years ago and never would have imagined a store such as Twisted Lily ever being there! I miss Takashimaya, but things change. . .

Cheers. Thnx, oh and I’m still in the US.

  • Wow – what an exciting giveaway. I’ve been on the Twisted Lily site all week picking out samples to try. I could go for Pluriel Feminin or Bois de Violette. What would I buy you… hmm… perhaps you’re lusting after SL Chergui? Thanks for the amazing draw – in the US!

  • I’m loving Twisyed Lily and will be visiting shortly. My wish list is Xerjoff Nio, Maison Francis Kirkdjian Absolue Pour le Matin and Nasomatto Pardon. I have heard nothing but great things about Twisted Lily so I am excited to experience for myself and spend a little time exploring.

I would choose for Michelyn Mona di Orio LUX. I think it fits her beauty.

In the USA and thank you for a marvelous draw.

  • Wow, what a site. I knew right when I saw it, I would gift Michelyn the stunning Tom Dixon Cog Candelabra Brass and Candle Sticks. Man that candelabra is luxurious.

I would wish for the Shooting Stars Discovery Set Part Two and the X/J
17/17 Discovery Set. Mona di Orio Cuir and Ambre would fit on my wish list as well. I looked at the store pictures and love the design of it. I was born in Hoboken NJ, went to school at Stevens, and had relatives in the Boerum Hills area of Brooklyn and it was scary to me to travel to that part of town. Amazing how it has changed over time. Great to see stores of high caliber come to the area. Will need to visit store sometime when I visit my relatives.

In the USA. Appreciate such a generous draw. Keep up the great work.

  • I would love Tauer Lonestar Memories, and I would choose Viktoria Minya Hedonist for Michelyn. A very lovely bottle at the very least, right?

I am in the US, and thank you!

  • I am a Twisted Lily fan; love the customer service for the online shopper. Just lovely people.

I have been hankering for a bottle of Andy’s PHI, and for Michelyn, I would choose Architect’s Club by Arquiste (because if Michelyn doesn’t like it, she can give it to me.) 🙂

  • Wonderful draw! I’d love Hedonist and Sotto La Luna Gardenia, and
I’d choose for Michelyn Myrrh Casati.

Thanks for the draw — I’m in the U.S.

  • First, for you I choose SHEM-EL-NESSIM – EDP for you, because the description evokes a scent that reaches for the stars and at once back again to the meadows and the forests. Also, it seems rare and exclusive, and that must be you, Michelyn.

For me, I have yet to purchase one of Andy’s, and he has highly recommended your banner new release of PHI Une Rose De Kandahar – because I want something beautiful and intense, and rare, and my guilt for not purchasing his first release of this has caused me sleepless nights. This is my first time to your website. Absolutely enthralled with the work you’ve done. If you have a room in the basement for me to live and a job to sell, let me know; to work and live among these beautiful creations would be a dream.

  • I’m in Spain (EU)

For me I would choose Christopher Street by Charenton Macerations or (and!) Bruno Fazzolari’s Lampblack

And for Michelyn…how about Creme de Fleur by In Fiore, for this winter? for “skin exposed to dry or harsh climates, it provides a protective barrier from outside elements while regenerating and strengthening skin tissue.”, sounds pretty good!

Thank you a lot for the draw!

Eric and Stamatis are awesome. I cannot say enough good things about them. Twisted Lily is my favorite store to order from. In fact, I am currently Ex Idolo’s Thirty-Three, which was the first thing I ordered through them (along with Penhaligon’s Opus 1870, if I remember correctly).

I am in the US. Thanks for the draw.

I just sample El Born from that company and it is the perfect winter scent…warm and comforting. US

I am in Bulgaria (EU). Thank you and The Twisted Lily for the great opportunity!

  • I haven’t physically been to Twisted Lily, but have done business with them via internet and phone. What a delight they are to work with. I love business owners who take a risk and open Brick and Motar stores in neighborhoods that seem unlikely places to find quaint and unique one of a kind shopping experiences. Choices are difficult as to what I would get for myself.. the list is not long but at this time of year I have a difficult time thinking of buying myself something. For Michelyn I would choose the Large handmade Amber Ball by L’ Artisian Parfumeur or the Tom Dixon Cog Candelabra. For myself either the Parfums De Nicolai New York Intense or HDP Amber 114. Wishing everyone a grateful Thanksgiving.

  • Whoa, browsing this site is giving me so many new wants!
I knew I wanted Mona di Orio Vanille and Oudh Osmanthus, Amouage Opus IV, Hitoires De Parfums Veni, but Montale Intense Pepper is new…and so are many of the truckload of samples from A Lab on Fire, Slumberhouse, MCG, Xerjoff, Tauer.

For Michelyn, I would choose to give something quite unique. Maybe Xerjoff Red Hoba? Or Mamluk? XJ 17/17 Discovery Set…Or maybe Arquiste The Architects’ Club? Hard to choose just one.

I’m in the USA and am especially thankful today that I live in relative peace and security, even though many people here do not. I wish everyone a happy, warm, safe Thanksgiving. I am thankful for all that I have and in the coming year, will try every day to appreciate it more (looking at you, sample drawer and FB shelf!)

    Thanks CFB and Twisted Lily!

  • Perhaps Michelyn would like a bottle of Carner Barcelona Cuirs? Thank you as always… the article makes me want to visit even more than I did before!

  • I wish I had the chance to visit Twisted Lily today! I generally choose not to be out and about at retail locations on Black Friday, but this would be an exception. For myself, I may choose A Lab On Fire What We Do In Paris Is Secret, because it is one that I’ve obtained multiple decants of and I should have a full bottle already! For Michelyn, Viktoria Minya Hedonist would be a pleasing option. Thanks so much for the generous draw. I’m in the U.S.

  • OOH, Twisted Lily — what a neat store. I would love to try the solid perfume, Vetiver Sambac by In Fiore. I also want to try Montserrat and Five by Bruno Fazzolari, and I might “gift” Fazzolari’s Au Dela Narcisse Des Montagnes to Michelyn, because it sounds marvelous.
