Best of the Oscar Red Carpet 2014: Kate Hudson in Versace

oscar-style-01

Oscars 2014 was surprising.  The announcement of the Oscar winners were the most exciting part of the evening since most of the categories were too close to call. What was “hot” on the red carpet didn’t begin to compare to the actual event.   Very few women took chances, opting instead for the safe and predictable.  Well-dressed women weren’t hard to find. Women worthy of the term “Best Dressed” were exceptionally hard to find. Lupita Nyong’O is one of those women, but this past awards season, she could do no wrong.  I digress, because I am not featuring Lupita (props to Chanel for her makeup, yet again… flawless, best of the night wearing the new Jardin Zen quad from the Jardins De Camelias collection) as my choice for the “Best of the Oscar Red Carpet” for Cafleurebon’s Oscar piece.

I had to look twice at this woman who clearly worked (Yes, it’s work!) to assemble a team to get this look nailed down.  Kate Hudson is smoking haute with a look that evokes classic Hollywood glamour with undulating waves that resonate perfectly with the gown that hugs her curves, dazzles the eye with a cape, ruching and Swarovski crystals.

Dress: Sexy, sensuous and elegant.  Versace of course!

Accessories; An array of Platinum by Neil Lane jewelry
Platinum and 10 carat diamond drop earrings
Platinum and faceted crystal ring
Platinum bracelet with sapphire and diamonds

A slinky chain with a diamond drop pendant would have been perfect for that neckline.

Shoes:  Jimmy Choo Vibe platform peep toe pumps

Make-up:  Kate Hudson glows (‘nuff said)

Hair: I’ll be honest. I want that hair.

Only thing missing is the scoop on what fragrance she is wearing. Hoping that will be a new Red Carpet question, don't you?

Enjoy! Thank you to Michelyn Camen for asking me to guest post on Cafleurebon.com on Oscars 2014. I will be featuring other posts & podcasts on Oscar Red Carpet fashion and beauty on my blog, www.LA-Story.com.

  • I think it would be wonderful if they shared what perfume they’re wearing!
My first thought for Kate was Diaghilev, but I also think Opardu would be lovely. I think it would depend on her mood.
