Atelier Cologne Café Tuberosa (Jerome Epinette) 2017-Perfume Review + Coffee in My Cologne Draw

In 2010, cologne with sillage seemed like a contradiction in terms .For three hundred years, colognes were the '"step-children" of perfumery. All that changed when Creative Directors Sylvie Ganter Cervasel and her partner in life, business and love, Christophe Cervasel co-founded Atelier Cologne and created a new genre -the Cologne Absolue that had Eau de Parfum strength and longetivity. Fast-forward seven years and Atelier Cologne has become an internationally acclaimed "Maison de Parfum", with world-wide distribution and free-standing boutiques in such cities as NYC, Brooklyn, San Francisco, Hong Kong, London and of course,  Paris.

In my opinion, one of the reasons for their early and ongoing success, was that they turned the idea of what cologne "is" upside down- using ingredients such as tea, vanilla, immortelle, mimosa and cacao. We wrote in 2010,  “There is an Atelier Cologne for everyone in the line” (back then there were only five; there are 30 + now).

Which brings me to my favorite Atelier Cologne of the past few years; the new Café Tuberosa, composed by Senior Perfumer Jerome Epinette of Robertet, who has worked with Atelier Cologne from the beginning. Coffee, cream and chocolate in my cologne? Yes. Please! –Michelyn Camen, Editor in Chief

I have learned from Sebastian video that while tuberose plays a major role, it is mostly about coffee and gourmand in nature. Th gourmand lovers will enjoy this fragrance. The timing is right given fall is fast approaching. My fav. from Atelier Cologne is Orange Sanguine. I am in the US.

  • I ALWAYS enjoy Sebastian’s reviews! He gets me so excited about a new fragrance that I want to immediately go out and buy it!

This one sounds AH-MAZING! I love gourmand fragrances; especially ones with coffee notes!! I don’t own anything from this perfume house so I’d be thrilled to get this one as my first!

I live in the USA – New York.

  • Gerald Moore says:

Am a massive Atelier Cologne fan and have most of their fragrances-this one is intriguing me as I had thought of myself as not a gourmand lover until recently so am very curious to try this one-New York here

  • I enjoyed how exciting this fragrance sounds and the notes in the fragrance. I live in Florida. I am definitely a fan of coffee and gourmand fragrances. I drink coffee and so I would love to try a coffee Accord fragrance.

  • I can not count how many Atelier Cologne’s I own… mostly cause I not home right now to do so 🙂 I adore the smell of roasted coffee, and Chocolate. Great job Sebastian, I loved how you said the Tuberose adds a creamyness to the chocolate and coffee.. Sounds divine… another beauty from Atelier Cologne. I am in the US and a registered reader and subed to Sabestians youtube.

  • Binxcat4ever says:

This was my first review I’ve seen from Sebastian. I am so curious about this fragrance. I love coffee and tuberose. I really enjoyed the video – really explained how the notes create a coffee accord. My current Atelier Cologne fav is Vetiver Fatal. I absolutely love gourmands. As to coffee – my profiles all used to say “Life is too short for bad coffee!” Thanks for the opportunity to win this fragrance. (I live in WV.)

  • Mefi Cortez says:

Really love this stuff. I don’t think I’ve encountered such a beautiful coffee note as the one in this Atelier. I really do love gourmands and have been searching for the perfect coffee fragrance, and I think I found it! I had no idea that they created something to make the coffee aroma, thanks for the info Sebastian. I currently only own Orange Sanguine, but my favorite is Santal Carmin. Los Angeles, CA.

  • Eric I Diedrichson says:

I love all of Sebastian reviews, he’s very informative and knowledgeable. I love gourmand scents they are so perfect for the cold weather here in New Jersey United States where I’m from

  • Nadine Cunningham says:

Sebastian has said alot of great things about the fragrance and has gotten excited about this particular scent as well as the entire Atelier Cologne house. My favorite coffee fragrance is Mugler Pure Coffee. I am a huge fan of gourmand scents and would be happy to win this one. My favrite Atelier cologne fragrance is Bergamote Soleil. I’m in Connecticut, USA

  • I love gourmands for sure and if there’s a hint of coffee, that is a win 🙂
I’ve only tried 3 frags from atelier cologne until now and all 3 were pretty solid. Sebastian reviews are great and accurate in general. I live in EU, thx for the draw.

  • Sebastian is a great reviewer. His comments and reviews are very relevant and descriptive. I very like a gourmand fragrances I also love coffee acord in the scent. I did not try this new release from Atelier, but I love and own Gold Leather, Bergamot Soleil, and Santal Carmin. I would love to try Coffee Tuberose!!! I am from Illinois. Thank you so much for the opportunity to win the newest release from Atelier Cologne!

  • timothy_tran00 says:

Sebastian actually got me interested in this fragrance. His reviews are always on point and descriptive. For me personally, I am a huge fan of gourmand fragrances, so this fragrance is right up my alley. I did try this fragrance one time at Sephora, and it projected really well! I am from Pomona, California. I would love to win this fragrance from Atelier Cologne!

  • Seb, as always, managed to describe this perfume vividly which makes you really excited especially if you are a lover of gourmands. I enjoy gourmand fragrances including coffee and I have Givenchy play intense, Pure Havane and Pure Malt. I am a fan of Atelier Cologne. Just bought Vetiver Fatal and Bergamot Soleil last weekend and they are my favourites currently. From California. Thanks for this chance to win Cafe Tuberosa!

  • Adam Baskin says:

I’ve been watching Sebastian’s videos for quite a while, and I’ve loved Atelier for almost a year now. The way they blend their perfumes is so uplifting and energizing. My favorite from the house is Orange Sanguine which I’ve been using all summer as my go-to casual fun fragrance. I really like the idea of a coffee/tuberose scent, and neither I currently have in my collection, and the potential to add it is very exciting!

Thanks so much for this opportunity! Its extremely generous of you!

  • What I liked the most about this review from Sebastian is that I could tell from the get go that he was really excited about this fragrance. I enjoy Atelier Cologne scents, and would love to see what they have done with these notes! I have not found a coffee fragrance yet that really does it for me. I love rose too. If Sebastian is excited and says this is on point then count me in for the giveaway! Thanks to Cafleurebon and Atelier Cologne for this opportunity!

  • I love florals as a man. This house has fantastic scents, and I look forward to trying more. Chad Aka shaveonthedarkside

  • Enjoyed the review, thanks for the generous giveaway.. I do enjoy coffee and gourmand fragrances.. A*men was probably the first fragrance I tried that utilized the note of coffee… would love to try this one.. Btw i wonder where the winners are posted? I never get facebook notifications about it

    regards
    NY – USA

  • Sebastian’s reviews are always so interesting and informative. The notes are fascinating in their juxtaposition. Tuberose and coffee? Mmmm. Thanks for the draw. I live in the USA

  • Sebastian has always provided some of my favorite fragrance content! With this video, I really enjoyed how he was the first to review this and was able to analyze the coffee note without it actually being listed as a note!

  • Loved the video review, I always learn so much. I do have a couple of the Atelier colognes, and wear them often. I don’t know that I have a very favorite – but Orange Sanguine and Bergamot Soleil are very high on the list. The scents seem to linger quite well on me – and I typically do have an issue with this, with other perfumes. The only perfume I have at the moment where I can discern a coffee note is the new Black Opium Floral Shock, which I’m finding I like quite a bit. I would love to try this one as well.
I’m in the US, thanks for the very generous draw.

  • The notes sounds heavenly delicious & divine ! I could smell this just by watching Sebastian describing it in best way possible .. no kidding. Good luck to all & thank you for this wonderful giveaway!

  • Mack Elwood says:

Sebastian with a great review as he always does. This sounds incredibly interesting to me. It is definitely the time of year to be stocking up on these sorts of fragrances. My old faithful coffee is Givenchy Play Intense. Missouri, here.

  • Michael McDonald says:

I’m glad that he explained in the video that the gourmand notes and floral notes work very well together. I live in Ohio. I love coffee and gourmand fragrances like Montale Intense Cafe, and my favorite Atelier is probably their vetiver offering. Thanks

  • Nahanni Riversong says:

I remember still my first introduction to the fragrances of Atelier Cologne and was mesmerized by the versatility of layering fragrances in this house. I still love my first purchase of Oud Saphir and Orange Sanguine. Of course am excited to smell the Tuberose as gourmands are really my most loved style of fragrance. I always appreciate how much I learn in Sebastians reviews and can feel how honest and transparent he is in them. Clearly he really likes this release and makes me want to blind buy! Would enjoy being a lucky winner of this one.. I live in California.

  • I love how informative Sebastians review was, I live in Slovakia – Europe, I love coffee fragrances, I am still on the hunt for a perfect coffee fragrance maybe this will end the hunt because the notes sound amazing, the house of Atelier Cologne is one of my favourite houses there are many that I really adore and own but my favourite is Vetiver Fatal, I love the combination of that smooth vetiver and sweet plum, I wear it all the time. Thanks for the amazing giveaway and the informative review, good luck everyone

  • Patrick Echevarria says:

Sebastian is right, have sampled it at Sephora and this is a gourmand/coffee lovers delight,a blast of coffee coffee coffee with some hints of chocolate and vanilla. Tested it on a strip only so I did not really see how the drydown on this went. Would definitely love to wear this on the cooler days of fall and winter. San Diego

  • I always like Sebastian’s reviews. His voice is soothing, and he just doesn’t really do needless hype. My favorite Atelier fragrances have been their citruses (e.g., Orange Sanguine, Clementine California, Pomelo Paradis), but this one really piques my interest. Just about every aspect of it is appealing to me. I’m skittish about rose (sometimes it works for me, sometimes it doesn’t), but the idea of tuberose (which I adore) and coffee and cardamom (both of which I just love in fragrances)… wow, I’m really excited to try this!

  • Chocolate? Сoffee and tuberose? This just shot to the top of my must try list. Thank you for the great review!

    I live in the US.

  • Love love love coffee notes. To get such nice review from Sebastian, it has to be good. Need to try this.

    In USA.WA.

  • I like how he explains there is no actual “coffee” note but a blend of other notes in order to make a coffee accord. I love gourmands and particularly like Intense Cafe and Intoxicated. I live in California. I enjoy Vanilla Insensee, California Clementine, Orange Sanguine, and Silver Iris.

  • Daniel Oshima says:

I am certainly a fan of coffee scents though not particularly a fan of gourmands in general. My favorite coffee noted scent is Bond No 9 New Haarlem. Favorite Atelier is Orange Sanguine, though admittedly I’ve only tried 2 of their scents so far but would welcome trying more! I’m in the Bay Area, California.

  • Well, gourmand and tuberose…love both.. I used to layer Casmir with Fraças, so, imagine, I love vanillè incensee , and ambre nue, gold leather, I like this house a lot…silver iris, and would be wonderful to start fall season smelling that good! Interesting that coffee itself isn’t listed as an ingredient, that they create the note with others, that is fascinating, alchemical, what magic a parfumeur can create? I imagine this like when you enter to a coffee shop those where you can buy fresh ground coffee and there where some elegant smelling ladies there too, to put the rose note in it.

  • This fragrance sounded so good, I rushed over here in the middle of Sebastian’s review. His excitement was so contagious! And I really enjoyed his comment of it reminding him off the smell of a coffee house. This brought back vivid childhood memories of walking past local fine coffee purveyors, my olfactory senses filled with pleasure. Mmmm… And tuberose fascinates me as a note. Would adore trying this perfume. Here in Seattle. Mahalos!

  • This sounds like a change from the citrus notes I’ve come to associate with Atelier brand. Sebastian makes this sound like the perfect fall scent. I would love to try it. Coffee is a funny note for me, it depends on the perfume. In this case it sounds like the perfect marriage between tuberose and coffee Thanks for the draw and the review! I’m in Texas

  • Dhruba Dasgupta says:

I actually learned what an accord was as opposed to a note and that was very helpful. Now it makes me even more interested to see if I can pick out the notes that help make the coffee accord!

  • Here in California. I love Sebastian reviews. He has directly influenced 4 of my purchases this year. I’m new Atelier so I do not have a favorite. But I will be checking out Sephora soon. I hope I win.

  • I like Sebastian’s description of the comfy feeling this provides, being a floral-gourmand sounds very intriguing. My ears always perk up when I hear about a new coffee scent – I’m truly a gourmand lover. The creaminess of the tuberose mixed with chocolate and coffee sounds perfect for Fall. The only other Atelier Cologne I’m familiar with is Orange Sanguine which is a great choice for summer. This is a wonderful draw! Thanks… I live in the USA.

  • Would like to try this. Haven’t tried any fragrance
With the note of coffee yet. Thanks for this giveaway
I’ll prob say Pomelo Paradis is one I enjoy
    Thanks

  • I love that you often relate to real life experiences and feelings, and how you can relate the fragrances your reviewing to those experiences, like when you talk about your experience with having a capuccino in the afternoon.
Here in Belgium we have a custom where every sunday everyone visits everyone, whether it’s friends, family, neigbhours, and were we all drink coffee and eat cake. It’s my favourite time of the week.
Now. I’m actually not that experienced with coffee based fragrances nor with tuberose fragrances but I am a real gourmand lover. Most of the times, gourmand fragrances make me feel comfortable, at ease, cudley, happy and warm.
My favorite Atelier Cologne is without a doubt Blanche Immortelle. I find this one, and all immortelle fragrances, underrated. Immortelle has a really nice sweet, haylike brown sugar smell that I just love. I live in Belgium.
Thank you so much for the giveaway!

  • Sebastian’s review was so interesting and wonderful as always. Unfortunately, I have never had a chance to try any of Atelier Cologne. But I’m really the fan of gourmand and coffee scents. So this fragrance is for me. Thank you very much for the draw. I live in Europe.

  • Always love Sebastians reviews. He has brought numerous fragrances to my attention I wouldn’t have known about otherwise. Sebastians reviews are somewhat like parables. He relates locations and experiences there with smells and makes it easy for viewers to relate and associate with those descriptions. I don’t have a favorite but Atelier fragrances are always a stop of mine when I go to some department stores and love the naturalistic smell to the fragrances. So Im sure this take involving coffee and chocolate will be great. I love gourmand fragrances as I know Sebastian does.
Im in the USA. Thanks for the opportunity!

  • Iuno Feronia says:

Sebastians reviews are always a delight. Thanks a lot. I love the perfumes of Atelier Cologne and I would like to win a bottle. I live in the EU, thanks for the draw!

  • Thank you, Sebastian, for a great review! As some sites had excluded coffee from the notes listed, I was a bit confused by the fragrance’s name and unsure of what to expect. I LOVE coffee in fragrances so I’m excited to experience this scent. As always, I appreciate your ability to give both a concise and specific description of the fragrance, before speaking about your interpretation and opinion. As we all interpret fragrances differently, and are often influenced by our experiences with similar notes or genres, the scientific/straightforward information is so useful! My favorite Atelier Cologne is Vanille Insensee (and Vetiver Fatal is a very sexy masculine I appreciate on others). Though, I always end up thinking Vanille smells so much better on my man than on me, so I’m eager to find MY Altelier scent, and am hoping this is the one! Thanks for the generous draw!

  • Sebastian’s review is perfect as always, thank you Sebastian. The notes sounds very interesting especially mix of gourmand with flowers, unfortunately I know only Orange Sanguine from this house which I like. I like gourmand scents especially with cocos note. I live in Poland.

  • OmarAladdin says:

The fact that coffee is not listed but is dominant in that fragrance is one interesting thing that I learned from Sebastian.
Tuberose is one of my favourite notes in fragrances which is quite picky cause it mostly feminine in fragrances.
Coffee dominating! *Take all my money*
I love coffee in fragrances and I absolutely love gourmands, my favourite gourmand is Feve Delicieuse…
Atelier Cologne is such an amazing house and I trust them, something about their fragrances that make me fall in love right away.
I love Silver Iris and Rose Anonyme

  • A gourmet lover’s dream……you have my interest. Great review Sebastian. Your enthusiasm truly came through. I really got excited to hear that the chocolate and coffee are not in the background. Looks like this fragrance is going to be widely available. I started my perfume journey with gourmands, mostly vanilla. I do have Noir Exquis which has coffee, still too warm of weather to bring that out. My favorite ftom Atelier is Oolong Infini. Thanks for the chance. I live in the US.

  • “Gourmand lover’s dream come true” that’s all I need to know! I’ve been looking for the perfect coffee fragrance, and was glad to hear that the tuberose is not the main actor in this scent.

One of my favorites from Atelier is Pomelo Paradis. I also love Clementine California.

Thank you for the opportunity! I live in the U.S.

  • beingcrystal says:

I have always enjoyed Sebastian’s reviews and I have been a subscriber for years. His videos are very personal, not so technical, and not trying so-very hard to sound like an expert in perfumery.
I don’t really like gourmands, but some notes of coffee or chocolate I really like. Café Rose is my signature scent (even if the coffee note is not apparent…).
I own Pomelo Paradis by Atelier Colognes, which was heavily used at the peak of summer here in Austria. The only citrus fragrance i love and own at the moment.

  • I see how excited Sebastian is about this fragrance and how he says it’s delicious, comforting, excellent and he wow’ed so liking white lowers, cacao and coffee, I think I would go ga ga after Cafe Tuberosa!
I do like coffee as a note in perfumery and it’s not that often that it gets well done.
    I live in the EU.

  • What a lovely description, Sebastian! I’m a fan of chocolate and coffee fragrances so this sounds good.

My favorite Atelier is Silver Iris. Thank you for the chance! I live in EU

  • I appreciate Sebastian’s enthusiasm in his videos and he really makes me want to seek out this fragrance. The combination of coffee and rose sound really intriguing. Just purchased A*men Coffee and can’t wait for colder weather to be able to wear it. Thanks for the chance. I live in the US

  • Atelier Cologne’s Vanille Insensee is one of my favorite vanillas and it sounds like this one could be just as intriguing. I generally love gourmands, although I don’t have a lot of coffee-based fragrances. I do enjoy L’Artisan’s Noir Exquis and Bond’s New Haarlem, though, so I think this could be a winner. Sebastian describes is as a comforting, cosy fragrance and I could definitely use one of those these days! Thanks for the chance to win/try! I’m in the USA.

  • I like Sebastian’s channel and his review of Café Tuberosa; he has gone ga ga over this one so I would really like to sample it, it does make it sound great.
I like gourmand fragrances, although not my favorite genre, there are some very good fragrances out there. Thanks for the draw, I’m looking forward trying this one. I’m in EU.

  • Thank you Sebastian and Cafleurebon for introducing new fragrances. Today, I tested it at Sephora. To me, Cafe Tubrosa is not gourmand, it is beautiful and dominant notes are Coffee, rose and vanilla.

Thanks for the draw and I live in the USA.

  • What I enjoyed about Sebastian’s review on Cafe’ Tuberosa is how he mentioned the note composition and what he enjoyed about it. From all the Atelier fragrances mentioned during my fragrance journey, there have been many that peeped my interest but I haven’t actually had the chance to try any of them. I’ve always been a fan of the gourmand type fragrances. I would love to enter the contest and hopefully get the chance to finally have the opportunity to sample this amazing house. I live in Queens New York.

  • I love the fragrances from Atelier and frequent the San Francisco Fillmore location quite often. I received a vial sample of Cafe Tuberosa before it was released at the store, it is amazing as I am a big gourmand lover. Sebastian’s review and insight into the notes and his experience led me to want it even more because I am a big fan of coffee, cocoa, Tuberose notes even though this flower plays a small supporting role. It is a new quintessential scent for Fall and Winter and right up my alley!

  • Oh I just this and am really excited as I tested it at Sephora. It is wonderful although I definitely smelt the tuberose. Enjoyed learning about the coffee accord and the brand’s history.

  • Adding to my previous comment. My go to scents from Atelier, Sous Le Toit de Paris, Clementine California, Camelia Intrepide.

  • Coffee and tuberose merge beautifully together and done in the wonderful Aterlier Cologne style, they are pure bliss. Sebastian describes the fragrance perfectly enthusiastic as a result of this wonderful composition !

    Reside in the UK, Europe.

  • Great video Sebastian as always. Love his personal take on it. Love coffee as a note my favorite note is cardamom. Love me some gourmand fragrances too

  • I live in Romania (EU). My favourite Atelier fragrance is Pomelo Paradise.

Sebastian’s reviews are always on point, he puts emphasis on what’s important (smell & performance), without unnecessary information. It was the case with this launch as well! I love fragrances with a coffee note, I love gourmand notes and, lately, I’m starting to love tuberose as a note (although it’s been hard finding fragrances that use the note in a masculine way). As a result, I’d love to give this one a try!

    Thank you for the giveaway!

  • I think I’m just getting in under the wire here. I always love Sebastians reviews. He made this sound so delicious and tempting. I love coffee scents but haven’t come across one I wear regularly – so maybe this is the one! My favorite Atelier is Tobacco Nuit. I’m in Boston, Ma USA

  • Sebastian always have great videos. Honest, informative, useful. I’m very fascinated with the combination of coffee and tuberose. I love gourmands, if they are not too sugary. If i feel drained in pancake sirup, it’s too much. Haha. I live in Copenhagen. I have several favourite Atelier Cologne fragrances: Rose Anonyma, Trefle Pur, Cedre Atlas and Cedrat Enivrant.

  • Im a gourmand maniac so Sebastian talking about it being a gourmand lovers dream is my 2nd favourite part. My first is that it doesn’t list coffee but there is a note. I am desperately anticipating how they managed to pull that off.

    I’m in Connecticut

  • Xavier Reynolds says:

Like many people out there, I love Sebastian’s reviews. His description of Cafe Tuberosa of how citrus, coffee, and rose kicks in with the fragrance without being too overpowering. Thant was my favorite part. I’m in Columbus, OH (USA)
