Amouage Reflection Man Review (Christopher Chong and Lucas Sieuzac) + Give That Man a Floral Draw

Christopher Chong joined Amouage in 2007, and his first perfume was Jubilation. Christopher is one of the more fearless Creative Directors in niche perfumery and over the past  eleven years has overseen the House’s perfumes, often taking chances and reinventing artistic perfumery with narratives, as well as bringing us modern classics. Amouage Reflection Man, is such a classic, composed in 2007 and is a great introduction for men who are wary of florals, thinking they are too feminine.

The heart of Amouage Reflection Man is floral… with Neroli, Ylang-Ylang, Jasmine and a powdery note (orris) that for me is reminiscent of Dior Homme with a  sandalwood drydown.  When you buy perfume look beyond the gender designation and find the fragrance that suits you. • Loved how Sebastian explained the fragrance and I have had a decant of the fragrance and I love how it smells. That fragrance is something I wear with confidence.

  • Sebastian is the best and mist knowledgeable fragrance reviewer on YouTube. His clarity of thoughts and description of fragrance is excellent. He travels to various cities and meet with frag houses and executives to collect valuable information on new releases and old.

I personally dont feel any differece if the floral fragrance is marketed to women even though its created for men. I do like hint of floral and sweetness in my fragrances.

I truly enjoy all hos his reviews and selections.

    Happy Thanksgiving.

  • I love the clarity of sabastians reviews. I’m a man that don’t typically wear women Scents but I do enjoy some floral Scents.

  • I love Sebastian’s taste. I smelled Amouage Reflection Man at Bloomingdale’s before and it was LOVE AT FIRST SNIFF for me!! However, it was so pricey haha. I love and enjoy rose fragrances so much I knew I had to have a bottle of this one one day. So, hopefully I get this chance. A loyal Smelling Great Fragrance Reviews Subscriber From Los Angeles, CA.

  • I really enjoy Reflection Man. My brother bought a bottle and made me a small decant and I love it. It is definitely on my short list of future purchases. I like how Sebastian recommends it as a entry-level floral fragrance for men. I don’t currently wear any fragrances targeted for women, but i’m not opposed to it. I typically stay away from overly floral scents, but I do love Reflection Man.

  • I’m a guy that loves florals – as long as they are not too punchy or generic smelling! Nightingale by Zoologist is one such example; I love wearing it.
Sebastian is my most trusted nose, I get a great idea of what the scent is like based on his description. I have yet to try Amouage, and would love the chance to do so! WA

  • Sebastian nailed it with his take on reflection man. I do not like florals but reflection man is an exception. Love this scent. From Montana, USA. Wishing you all a happy thanksgiving!!

  • middleagedandmixed says:

I always enjoy watching Sebastian’s videos and today’s no exception whether there’s a giveaway attached or not. I’m absolutely intrigued if he describes a fragrance as love at first sniff like Amouage Reflection Man. He proceeds to describe it as powdery & classy which further piqued my interest. I’m a woman who loves wearing fragrances marketed to men. I don’t think it matters. Cheers from WA!

  • Sebastian always has a knowledgeable appreciation for fragrances and his descriptions are always on point. He seems like a genuinely nice fellow and is very loyal to his fanbase. I really enjoy floral fragrances. They seem to wear well on me and they add a dandy characteristic to ones presence, which is great for gentlemen. I wear Dolce and Gabanna Light Blue for women and men because they’re both unisex in my humble opinion. Salutations and thank you for the opportunity to participate in the giveaway.

  • Alex Khodyrev says:

I absolutely love Amouage fragrances. Personally own Amouage Beloved Man, but have sampled many others and Reflection Man is on the list. They’re very unique and as they say “Often imitated never duplicated“

  • I just love Sebastian’s appreciation for the art of perfumery. His descriptions and note breakdowns always draw me in. Just when I think I have enough fragrances, he makes me interested in getting my nose on something new! No difference this time around… can’t wait to experience Refection Man myself!

  • I really appreciate the way Sebastian describe fragrances in general. Very pleasant and relaxing videos!
There are a couple of women perfumes I wear, like Tom Ford’s Black Orchid, and I love florals perfumes: I can cite Dior’s Higher or Chanel’s Platinum Egoiste.
Thank you for having organized this giveaway!

  • Sebastian always describes the scents so well that you have a great idea of what it will smell like. I do wear fragrances marketed to women as well as florals. Marketing means little to me. If I like the scent I will wear it.

  • yungcherrypops says:

Loved Sebastian’s review as usual since he describes things SO well. Always concise, descriptive, to the point. I trust his nose so much. As a man, I do have some fragrances that are marketed towards women – Noir de Noir by Tom Ford (unisex) and Portrait of a Lady by Frederic Malle and I love both of them. Florals are great – iris, rose, geranium, orange blossoms – and there’s NOTHING “feminine” (or gendered) about them. Would love to get a full bottle of this – I haven’t smelt it before, but I love Lyric, Interlude, Jubilation XXV, and Epic. Never been let down by Amouage.

  • ratik mittal says:

I love woody floral perfume but never had to chance to smell this gem i hope i can get a chance to win this

  • I’m a middle aged man and love florals. Like the review. I blind buy lots of perfumes based on Sebatian’s YouTube reviews and love every single one of them…finally got my hands on a bottle of Dior Homme Parfum!

  • I love how Sebastian starts with the concentration and the pricing and then jumps into the notes, and he always keeps the bottle right in front of the camera so we could see it.
    I’m from CA USA

  • doowtnehpets says:

Sebastian’s description is on point. He’s good at making me want to buy more fragrances. I don’t think I’ve worn anything marketed to women before, definitely unisex. I’m ok with florals, except the white florals, those are usually too much. Lavendar, iris, violet all work well. I’ve smelled this before and the jasmine isn’t too strong, definitely a good scent.

  • Sebastian is dead on about Reflection Man. It is powdery, yet sophisticated – it screams elegance. I love how he breaks down the notes. In my opinion, while there are similarities to JPG Le Male, this is a refined version of that.

I am a guy, and I love wearing perfumes targeted at women. Really, a lot of it is just attitude. If you wear it with confidence, there are no worries. Just today, I wore Tom Ford’s Black Orchid EDP. Earlier this week, I wore Parfums De Marly Delina, and one of my spring and summer go to fragrances is Chanel’s Beige.

  • I like Sebastian’s opinion about this fragrance, and how he markets this as a “beginner” floral scent for men. I think the note breakdown is also genuine, and his opinion on heart notes is spot on. I also love floral scents; my current favorite fragrance is Maison Dior’s Gris Dior. I also wear Balade Sauvage, which I try to use sparingly because I want to enjoy it for long (it’s a tiny 40ml!). And I want to get hold of Chanel’s Les Eaux Venise, which I enjoy plenty! Neroli and orris have always been notes that play fantastic in my all-time tropical weather. It would be an honor to have this fragrance be part of my small collection of fragrances.

  • Interesting review Sebastian. Reflection Man has been on my radar for a while, but the floral aspect has been holding me back. While Jubiliation XXv is a nice fragrance and well suited for the holiday season, my favorite from this house is Interlude Man. That being said, as far as female marketed fragrances go…I can’t say no to YSL’s Opium. I don’t know which formulation my Aunty owned, but every time I visit her I would sneak a couple sprays. The cloves and cinnamon remind me of Costume Nationals Homme (another favorite). Thanks for throwing this giveaway. Cheers from CT.

  • Chuck Goodpaster says:

Sebastian always gives good advice. I have a few fragrances marketed toward females but I like the scents. Most at neroli based. Thank you for the opportunity!

  • Sebastian had a really great review that has turned my head towards this frgrance. As always.. thank you!

  • MARIO SHERRILL says:

Sebastian is the man! Havent had a chance to get my noe on this one but it seems to be very popular, soon!

  • Ylang, orris and jasmine but gets masculine in the base! That’s what interested me. I have never tried this house. Yes, I wear men’s frags. I am 49 and wore Fahrenheit in high school before unisex was a thing.

  • Great review from Sebastian as always. I do wear some fragrances marketed towards women and i think as long as it fits to you, your personality and you feel good with it than it’s all perfect. Floral fragrances are not my favourites but i have a few special ones that i love, JPG Fleur du mal woud be one of them. Thanks for this wonderful giveaway and happy thanksgiving. Oakland CA

  • Not big on fragrances marketed to women. However if I ran into something that suited me, I would have no problem wearing it. Reflection Man has a floral componen, but I find it easily masculine enough. It is clean and refined, a perfect introduction to the house. Sebastian dissected this one tona tee as usual. Never disappointed.

  • Happy Thanksgiving! I will wear a fragrance marketed to either gender, but find that most of my fragrances are unisex marketed. I am a man that does enjoy florals. I know rose oud is over played but I just love it! Akaster by PDM is great and some what unique one. I absolutely love jasmine and neroli but find them a little hard to pull off. Love how personal Sebastian makes his reviews. Def shows his passion for the art form. Thanks!!!

  • Just Add Light says:

Definitely wear fragrances marketed to women! Most of the best gourmands are anyway, but there are also some stunning florals, even in the designer realm. Glad that Sebastian mentioned the JPG connection to Reflection because I certainly get that too, although sometimes I find it could come off a little liquorice-y on my skin in the drydown, mainly due to that jasmine. Love that he also brought up the greenness, because few reviewers ever do. But it’s in the opening for sure. Definitely a great starter floral for men! USA.

  • I love masculine florals. This is the first time someone mentions a resemblance with dior homme which is one of my most favorite perfumes. Sebastian also mentions Le Male which I have heard about before but he adds Fleur du Male which I have not heard anyone mention before. That may be due to neroli in reflection. thanks for draw. My favorite Amouage is Amouage Gold. I am in US.

  • I love rose in my fragrances and would love to try this one. I love Sabastian’s videos and how he describes all the notes of the fragrances.

  • Great description. The orris powdery vibe is a surprise!
Sebastisn is grest at describing scents…

  • I think if you can pull off a fragrance, it doesn’t really matter who it’s specifically marketed to. I don’t mind florals but feel they have to be done a certain way to fit for my own taste. Having recently sampled Amouage Reflection Man I also noted that for a brief period of time it may have leaned feminine before the more masculine base notes settle in. I felt like Sebastian at Looking Feeling Smelling Great really nailed down that experience.

  • One of my favorite scents as a guy is TF Black Orchid. It’s nice to hear his note breakdown and not reference Le Male as a similar scent much more than it is a powdery scent. I’d look forward to smelling this Amouage fragrance.

  • Gabriel Garcia says:

I believe Sebastian got me into amouage, after a review of lyric man.
That was in years ago, turn the clock forward and here we are, amouage is very important in the field, since the scents are so special and creative e. And I do love florals and even more than masculine wooden scents.
Sounds like this could be a great scent.

  • michaelprince83 says:

Great review by Sebastian as always. I enjoy many on the Amouage fragrances including Reflection Man. Great description and breakdown of the fragrance notes.

  • I loved that he did a review again in this new channel of his. It’s awesome that there are floral fragrances targeted towards men, that speaks mastery in blending materials from the perfumer. The fact that it has a gentleman touch to it sounds awesome. I like florals on me, particularly Aramis Calligraphy Rose, Montale Aoud Lagoon and More than Words by Xerjoff.

  • Loved the way Sebastian broke down the notes and helped paint the fragrance. I love florals and reflection sounds like it would be a nice addition to the collection

  • I appreciate Sebastian’s very detail review of a classic fragrance Reflection Man by Amouage. I did have a small sample of the scent years ago and enjoyed the scent a lot. Would love to win a full bottle. Happy Thanksgiving to all! Blessing! My fav from this house is Reflection Man.

  • Also will wear unisex floral fragrances for men and women. I do love Rose fragrances. As long as it smells good I will most certainly give it a try.

  • I’ve heard amazing things about Reflection Man and now I have a chance to own it – thank you! What I enjoyed about Sebastian’s review is how much he loves the fragrance. I’ve worn fragrances marketed to women before but I typically won’t wear anything too sugary sweet. I also really appreciate florals – especially in the spring. Arkansas

  • I have loved my taste of Reflection Man in the past. Would love to win a whole bottle. I don’t check the marketing for fragrances. I wear what I like and what wears well on me. US

  • I own many Amouage fragrances Dis, interlude, epic and Gold. I haven’t tried reflection yet but hearing about the nice florals but woody drydown sounds great. I never knew Dior homme had iris in it. Great review and liked the Bond pic
    Hope I win

  • Ivan.napoleon says:

Sebastián s review perfect as usual and Id love to try this one. I wear Black orchid and love floral. Miami Florida Thanks

  • A great review for a great fragrance! I love the house of amouage and this is one of my favorites from them and sebastian did a perfect job describing it. On me I get a wonder fresh powdery vanilla. The florals are great in this not too overpowering to be feminine but very unisex In my opinion. I hope to get my hands on a bottle it’s not cheap but I still have a fairly decent sized decant. Thanks for the giveaway keep up the good work! I am in the USA in AZ.

  • I always enjoy how Sebastian breaks down the notes and further explains them. One can always envision the way the perfume is gonna smell based on his reviews. He really loves this one. I can wear a male perfume if I like how it smells.
    I live in California.

  • As always great job, Sebastian!!!
I have tested Reflection Man for many times, and I like it- powedery- floral.
It was interesting to compare my vision on this perfume with Sebastian’s.
I read here that in some phase it remind Dior Homme…hmmmm …I dud not find noticable similarity, but I csn say Refkection Man are very close to JPG L’Male.
    US

  • I really liked Sebastian’s note breakdown. He is always so thorough. I have never worn a strictly feminine scent but I am not opposed to it!

  • Thank you amouge for this generous and lovley oppurtunity. Sebastian is lovely and describes the fragrance very well ! I find the fragrance soft, charming and romantic as well. since the topic was brought up, I wonder if women wear reflection man, since I think it is unisex.

I dont wear fragrances marketed towards women, but I find black orchid interesting and love wolsbane, which I find unisex and better on women.

I do like florals, but It has to be in the base, like in Bvlgari man in black.

I am not sure if we can choose the amouge we would like, but it seems like we can. If that is the case, I have been yearning for Amouge Journey man so badly.

  • Sebastian’s review hit the nail on the head when comparing Reflection man to Le Male and Fleur de Male, I think it leans a little closer to Fleur de Male, but I have only smelled Reflection man on a sample card. I do tend to wear florals in spring/summer.

  • I like how Sebastian mentions Le Male as I think Reflection Man greatly resembles it. I respectfully disagree with Michelyn in regards to the Dior Homme comparison. Just shows you how different our noses can be! I enjoy fragrances market towards women, Tom Ford has many of them that smell great on me. I also enjoy florals, Amouage Lyric Man is a floral masterpiece. Cheers from Indiana, USA.

  • Happy Thanksgiving!!

I love Sebastian’s reviews and I’ve had this fragrance on my wishlist for such a long time. I especially love the drydown of Vetiver, Patchouli, Sandalwood, Cedarwood.
I love all perfumes so I don’t care if a scent I like is geared towards men. If the fragrance grabs me, I will wear it, despite it being made for guys.
    I live in the USA.

  • Mohammedhabib says:

I really like how clear sabastians reviews are. I’m a man and I do enjoy some floral Scents. I’m middle eastern who live in the US and I know Amouage has these unique mideastern notes that I love

  • I don’t think I’d ever wear a scent made for women, but I do enjoy a lot of the unisex fragrance. I like how Sebastian makes a floral sounds like it can be an exclusively masculine fragrance.

  • I wear what I like and what smells great on me. So yes I wear frags that are marketed towards women–floral or not. And these fragrances can be loud, so most men 1 spray is enough, no more than 2. I’m aware of Amouage line , but I have not tried anything from it. Like always Sebastian’s reviews are on point therefore so Reflection Man should be a winner. California

  • Late to the game. Wasn’t quite sure as to the rules nonetheless Reflection Man is my favorite Amouage.

  • I enjoy Sebastians straight forward knowledgeable reviews. I have not worn a fragrance directly marketed to women. I am a man and do enjoy a good floral scented fragrance. Would like to get my nose on Reflection Man.

  • Sebastian Gallegos says:

We have the same name!!! I love the way he perfectly describes the fragrance I have small amount of this one and I absolutely love the scent!!!

  • I like Sebastian for being unapologetically honest in his review. Like his dislike of Versace Dylan blue.

I don’t wear feminine scents but would be open to masculine florals.

  • I wear a lot of unisex marketed fragrances, but I can’t think of a female marketed fragrance I have worn. Maybe Black Orchid? I am not opposed to it if the fragrance suits me.

I wasn’t sure Sebastian would like Reflection Man in that it is not that creative or unique, and more of an office scent to me. He usually likes bold things. I enjoyed hearing his opinion on it and would love to be considered for the give away.

  • As i said a couple of times here Sebastian is the best in the business – bought a lot of fragrances because of his reviews-mostly niche.
To me Reflection Man is 100% unisex , and i know a few guys,my husband included that find it way too femine , and i’m talking Amouage fans.
As a woman i do love the house of Amouage , but to be honest i much prefer men’s versions. To me Jubilation XXV is A LOT better fragrance compared to Jubilation for Women,Reflection Men > Reflection Women , Lyric Man>Lyric Women and so on.
I do own full bottles of Jubilation XXV – 100% unisex fragrance , Journey Woman -the only one better than men’s version, and 10ml decant of Lilac Love-a fragrance i adore , and i do plan to get full bottle.
Amouage is such a great house with high quality fragrances – every fragrance lover should have at least one in her/his collection. There is only one fragrance from the brand i don’t like. It’s called Opus IX – on my skin is SUPER indolic and animalic at the same -not my thing at all.
Happy Thanksgiving to Cafleurebon and all the contributors and readers .
    Cheers from VA USA

  • I don’t pay any attention to fragrances marked for men or women. I wear what I like. Sebastian’s reviews are always great to watch and listen to. I haven’t worn this particular Amouage, but would love to try it. Thanks for the draw. I’m in the USA

  • Enjoyed the review by Sebastian. Always does a great job explaining a fragrance. I’ve snelled this one before and it’s a nice scent. I did enjoy it
I’m a man who does enjoy floral scents but won’t be able to wear one wear it leans more feminine. Thanks U.S.

  • I like and follow Sebastian’s Channel for a while now. I enjoy how he explains the notes work out over time and gives a sense what to expect from a scent which also gives confidence in buying a bottle. and when/what occasions to wear it.
I am a man and wear florals targeted to man like amouage lyric man and dior homme.

  • I like and look at a lot of Sebastian’s videos, I enjoy most about his video’s are that he has convinced me to use fragrances that may be geared towards women before I wouldn’t have tried them but now I wear what I think smells good.

  • Reflection Man is classy suit only type of fragrance for me.I finished non-magnetic cap bottle a few years back , and i was wearing it only with a suit,at un important meetings .Works wonders and helps you to do well.
Atm i do own 3 Amouage fragrances – Jubilation XXV for men – the best Amouage fragrance , Intelude Man also known as The Blue Beast , and Lilac Love.
I wear what like-designer,niche,indie.Don’t care if it’s marketed for guys or girls…all it matters to me is my own opinion.I own not only Lilac Love but quite a few fragrances marketed for women.Does not bother me one bit.I’m wearing Black Orchid by Tom Ford right now-love it.
Thank you for this generous draw.
    I do follow all of you on Instagram – @cafleurebon , @lookfeelsmellgreat , @Offical_ europerfumes and @amouageofficial

  • One of the best from Amouage. If not the best. Better to me than Le Male. Sebastian always does great with his reviews. The winner will be very happy with this fragrance.

  • As always, Sebastian delivered a great review, I wear scents that I like, especially fresh colognes and woody piney scents. I don’t like fruity sweet scents very much, so many scents marketed to women are not for me. Thank you for the great review and the draw, I’m in the us

  • I always enjoy Sebastian’s reviews. I like that he evaluated each perfume on its own merit and happily wears more feminine perfumes as well. The perfumes I’ve been attracted to recently have mostly been unisex and so I’ve also enjoyed some men’s fragrances as well. I do like some cleaner florals but don’t enjoy the syrupy sweet super feminine florals. It’s mainly balance to be honest. I live in the USA. Thanks!

  • Great review as always from Sebastian, and thank you to EuroPerfumes for the giveaway. Sound like a great scent to me. I’ve never been to scared of floral perfumes as a man. I think it takes a lot for a perfume to smell like a man or women only perfume. I have never worn anything that wasn’t at least unisex, but i definitely smell the women’s perfumes that I find interesting. This fragrance sounds amazing and I don’t own anything from Amouage yet, but its great to have some variety in your perfume collection.

  • Great reviews, time and again, Sebastian! This would be a great perfume, which my wife and me both could use! Thanks!

  • First time subscriber to both Sebastian and cafleurbon. I love this fragrance but could never afford it. I like his attitude towards fragrances. Would love a bottle for myself. Praying to win.

  • dave.kirkpatrick says:

I tried a sample a couple years ago and was amazed at how incredibly perfect it is! Sebastian’s review gave me more insight on what I was experiencing with Amouage Relfection Male. Really am starting to enjoy floral scents lately and coming at it with an open mind.

  • dave.kirkpatrick says:

In addition, normally I don’t wear florals marketed to women but I guess Tom Ford’s Black Orchid might be a wild card… I tend to be more conservative.

  • In the past I tried and even worn a few Amouage masculine perfumes. This one seems to be quite a polarizing one though and I would be curious to give it a try too, especially since it does seem to lean feminine.

  • andrewparker22 says:

Sebastian has a highly refined taste and his nose seems to always agree with mine. That is why I want to get my nose on Reflection Man! I do enjoy florals, and wear a fragrance based on how I feel about it artistically, not based on sex.
