AETHER Rose Alcane (Amélie Bourgeois and Anne-Sophie Behaghel) Perfume Review + Molecular Rose Draw

In our Best of Scent Awards 2016 I chose Nicolas Chabot as the best creative director of the year.  (for those who don’t know, Nicolas revived Le Galion in 2014, a house that is famous for Sortilege by Paul Vacher). Two years  later he debuted  AETHER Parfums an all synthetic line of excellent fragrances.   Such different approaches may seem counterintuitive, but both incorporate major trends in modern perfumery… a nod to the past and a look forward to the future. AETHER Rose Alcane is amazing because it really smells like a rose, capturing every aspect of the rose from bud, stem, to blossom and even the steel shears for the cuttings. Although it is 100 percent synthetic it smells photorealistic using two listed ingredients Rose Oxide (an aroma chemical found in rose oils and wines) and Oxide.

    Thanks,

I do like rose but it’s very hit and miss on my skin but I do like a good jammy rose. Sebastian said it was very unisex and I trust his nose so I would love to try this one out. I do also love bright green fragrances so this should be interesting. I haven’t tried anything from AETHER yet but I have heard good things. The idea of fully synthetic fragrances doesn’t bother me it actually intrigues me all the extra work to synthesize the notes and such very interesting stuff. As always great article keep up the good work! I am in the USA.

  • Sebastian’s excitement about this perfume really comes through in his review. I love rose perfumes and this one definitely sounds interesting. Amazing how just 2 ingredients can produce so many nuances.

  • Garden shears, tart, green, Rose and unisex?!? I’m in. Also linked to Europerfumes and Aether parfums. Thanks for the opportunity to sniff, I’m in the USA.

  • I love Sebastian review. He told enthusiastically that I want to test this jammy rose , even I do not like rose in Male fragrances. I am open to 100% synthetic perfumes, if is same grade are 100% synthetic and perfumes with some part of natural ingredients I will prefer with naturals.

Of the reviews Sebastian has done, this one I’m surprised to see him so surprised by the fragrance. I enjoy rose fragrance and regardless if it genuine or synthetic, if the smell is good I’m down. With the way regulations are going, 100% synthetic fragrance truly might be the norm in the future. So with that said Aether is ahead of their time. In the USA

  • Really enjoyed Sebastians vivid description of this one. Sounds very intriguing without a doubt. No problem at all with synthetic fragrances

  • Ivan.napoleon says:

Totally open! There are great fragances and this one sounds interesting
    Sebastians review perfect as usual.

  • Sebastian’s enthusiasm for this fragrance is palpable! A photo-realistic rose fragrance made entirely from synthetic ingredients…I’d love to experience this. I’d be very open to using completely synthetic fragrances. Anything that smells good to me is fine as far as I’m concerned. I am in the US. Thanks for a great review, Sebastian and also thank you to Aether perfumes and Cafleurebon!

Sebastian has created a big lemming on me for Rose Alcane after such an enthusiastic and exciting review. I am a rose lover and the fact that this perfume smell so real makes me crave for it. I do not have any problems with 100 percent synthetic perfumes. Thanks for the draw.

  • fazalcheema says:

I learned from Sebastian’s review that Rose Alcane has lot of fruity notes that have been used to create the effect of rose smell. thanks for the draw. I am in US.

  • jeremyn87 says:

I’m a big rose fan. The synthetic ones can have a really dynamic and multifaceted smell. From what I recall, Tea Rose from Perfumers Workshop is mostly synthetic, and Sebastian’s review reminds me of it a bit. I like synthetic frags when they don’t smell harsh, eg how Escentric Molecule’s fragrances are really smooth and pleasant.

  • Not fond of rose but this sounds like I could wear based on Sebastian very good review. Synthetics are ok but I do like natural too. Didn’t know they owned Le galion. My grandma wore that.

  • newyork318 says:

Green rose with hints of twigs and shears sounds pretty cool! I have a sample of Muskethanol from this house that I haven’t yet tried, but this one also looks great. Looking forward to trying their whole line.

  • Thank you, dear Sebastian for this review. i was realy enjoyed your video. I understand how you like this perfume.
It is good new that this perfume with rose in center is not only for woman.
I would love to wear that jammy rosy, green, fresh perfume.
I think a big part of perfumes even in nich hasve mostly synthetic ingradients_ so I am open to that.

  • Sounds interesting with rose perfume. I have tried some of roses perfume and I think this one will change the game. Wish to win this perfume.

  • Thanks Michelyn! And great review Sebastian! A green, metallic, unisex rose sounds like it would smell amazingly good! Sebastian did an excellent job describing Rose Alcane, and I would definitely like to try it. I haven’t tried any of AETHER’s fragrances, yet, but it sounds like they’re a really great house. I have no problem with synthetic scents, whatsoever. Thanks for the draw!

  • I forgot to add, I’ve liked Çafleurebon, and Sebastian on both Facebook and Instagram, as well.

  • OudPecker says:

I do enjoy a nice rose fragrance and Aether’s synthetic take on rose seems like a great next adventure! Like others have mentioned, Sebastian’s beaming endorsement of the scent definitely piques my interest and I’m glad to know that Twisted Lily carries the line. Sebastian’s interpretation of this fragrance is very enticing as I do enjoy unisex earthy rose-based scents. (I have liked the Facebook page and do appreciate the opportunity for the drawing; thanks Ca Fleure Bon and Sebastian!)

  • Fusiongel says:

Interesting concept using all synthetic ingredients. I’m new to this brand of fragrance. However, I’m intrigued by Sebastian’s take on this fragrance. It seems like a fragrance that hits all the right spots despite being completely synthetic. Rose is an all or nothing note for me. Either I love it or I don’t. Haven’t found one where I’m undecided. Thanks for doing this giveaway. Cheers from CT.

  • Lori Laws says:

Sebastian’s review was great! I’m intrigued by this being synthetic and using only 2 ingredients (rose oxide and oxane). This sounds like a wearable rose scent to me, especially when he said it could be unisex. A great concept in perfumery. Thanks for the draw and I live in the US! 🙂

  • 100% synthetic is fine with me. Rose essential oil is divine, and so are rose perfumes that skip the flower and come straight from the laboratory. I most often look for written reviews, but Sebastian is turning me into a fan of the video format. Rose Alcane’s jammy rose with citrus and green notes sounds like a treat.

  • Another great review presented by Sebastian. He is always expanding nasal palette. As a lover of roses and somewhat of natural snob I’m looking forward to the giveaway of Aether Rose Alcane to see if it stand up to the real stuff. Here in the USA

  • doveskylark says:

I”vr only recently begun to wear rose fragrances. The metal in this rose sounds intriguing, especially thinking that it is the the metal of the shears that creates the note.
I don’t mind synthetic notes. I just care about the final result.

One of the greatest factors i consider when gettng a fragrance is longevity and performance. Nothing is more delightful than getting whiffs of your perfume 5-7 hours after you sprayed it. I always found all natural perfumes to be faint and weak performing, so I am for synthetics all the way. I think Seb’s review has ticked off evey box on my check list regarding this frag. I trust his judgement. Looking forward to wearing this unique rose scent 😉 following you guys on fb and ig. Much mahalo!!!

  • Nicely done. I’m new to rose fragrances. Would like to try more and grow my like for them. I’m okay with synthetic perfumes but do prefer
More natural fragrances. This sounds good. Thanks for the giveaway

  • I always enjoy Sebastian’s reviews! And this fragrance has my name all over it! I love rose perfumes. And I like that Sebastian describes it as being very green. That’s my favorite kind of rose fragrance that includes the notes of the green leaves.

  • Beautiful description by Sebastian-one of the best Youtube reviewers.Bought so much fragrances because of him.
Great rose smell, green and juicy and a bit tart from the greapefruit , with a hint of jaminess – should be a fantastic scent.
    Fantastic draw.
